Brainy Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Coventry have some very good strikers like Eastwood, Morrison, Leon Best.. but they never really hit top form last season. If they find form this season they'll survive easily.
tartanowl Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 A lot of people are seriously over-estimating the Blunts. They will be playoffs at the very best next season. United are being forced to sell their best players, there are rumours of protests amongst the fans against the chairman, they have had to remove close to £10m off their wage bill for this season so they are now more in-line with everyone else, they tried to sign McIndoe from Wolves a few days ago but seemed unable to come up with the funds in time despite the recent multi-million pound player sales (Tonge, Beattie, Jagielka, Stead, Hulse) they have made in recent seasons. It was shit or bust for them last season and they failed spectacularly at the final hurdle. They sold Beattie early because they knew they couldn't afford to keep paying a player on close to £40k a week in the Championship. No goals from Beattie this season, no parachute payments, McCabe their chairman struggling financially, Kenny to be banned for the drugs episode, Kyle Naughton on the way out, Kyle Walker leaving, rumours of Kilgallon going too, a massively reduced squad and they can't afford to replace them with equal quality. Troubled times at the Lane!

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 They've been on the edge for the past 3 seasons, I think they will drop next year. Hope so! When we went down they only got 53 points, while the season just gone I think they only got 54/55. It shows they have not improved much at all and were very lucky that there were at least 4 or 5 teams a lot worse than them, which unfortunately did not go for us at all. But Cov have always been lucky with escaping for years now.
Webbo Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 I really can't understand why so many people are tipping Midlesborough.I like Gareth Southgate but he never did anything last season to prove he was a good manager and they are likely to lose their best players.

Ultra Posted 3 August 2009 Posted 3 August 2009 Can't see Reading doing much this season. The team Steve Coppell built has largely been broken up.
