Filbert_Ross Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Dagenham and Redbridge - Rushden and Diamonds - sorry I don't know the difference really, but thanks for the correction. thats alright. like ive already said, we've got a framed photo of Simeon in his Rushden days in our flat.
maddog Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...ootie-news.htmlLEICESTER are closing in on £1.5million-rated Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson, 22. City plan to fund the move by flogging Andy King to Aston Villa for £2.5m. The Gills signed Canadian international Jackson for £150,000 in January 2008. Leicester are also mulling over a £750,000 move for Norwich striker Sammy Clingham. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Surely we would have been better off paying £2m for a proven League One goalscorer than £1.5m for a proven League Two goalscorer. This is very interesting indeed. At least it's a striker possibly.
lou Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Like others have said I dont care where hes playing now (Leeds got Beckford from non league) but the price being quoted is ridiclous - I wouldnt mind us signing him for a couple of hundred thousand. If it meant having to sell Kingy though forget it! I think its all Bull anyway though
Mark Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Does look like DJ mkII I thought that the times I've seen him play, really not worth it. We might as well at least try to make some use out of DJ instead of splashing out more cash on someone so identical, where the only major difference would be his attitude?! Plus £1.5 million is ridiculous for a player only proven in league 2.
smudger63 Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 King is the Championships Gerrard. NO DEAL. A very poor mans Gerrard! Of course, it would help his game if he could tackle, and didn`t go missing in games, so often. 2.5 million, if true snap their hand off, turn and run very quickly, before they change their mind!
Asha Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Is this Nussuls doing? To be fair, he's a bastard to sell.
Guest Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 A very poor mans Gerrard! He can tackle, made some crucial ones last year, and after only missing a grand total of about 5 games all season last season I can vouch for the fact that he has 'gone missing' on very infrequent occasions
Pricey Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I would actually like to see Jackson come here, but not at a cost of King leaving. I think we need two strikers, a target man and a young pacey player like Jackson.

I found that when the game became a little physical, king would go missing, thats not to say that he wouldnt suddenly pop up from nowhere with a crucial goal, a very good habit to have!

Tackling is over rated in the modern game, mores the pity and increases the chances significantly of getting booked. Closing down and narrowing the passing opportunities is the way the game's going and King is as good as anyone at that.
Tilley Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I wouldn't sell King to sign this nobody. Simeon Jackson might make an interesting signing but if we spend over a million for him, I think we've been ripped off.

Edmund Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Based on what? skin tone? Get ready for the barrage of abuse Just like N'Guessan was a Momo Sylla MKII some people are so ignorant.
Golidfox Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 I think Mr Pearson must have watched the Villa vs. Gillingham FA Cup game earlier this year. Jackson left the Villa defence on their backsides before before cracking in a smashing goal. I tried to upload the clip but to no avail. My Brother's a Villa fan, which made the goal all the sweeter. I know it was only a one match but he looked a class act reminded me of Jermain Defoe
FOX_TROT_07 Posted 14 July 2009 Author Posted 14 July 2009 I think the guy is well worth considering. I think 1.5million is a bit steep and I deffinatley would not sell Andy King to fund it
sbfox Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Apparently radio Kent is saying we've put a bid in already...
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Not too sure about selling King to fund his purchase. If thats the case then it's a retrograde step to take.
artursteppe Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 Not too sure about selling King to fund his purchase. If thats the case then it's a retrograde step to take. My view is that Jackson will be worth double the value of King by this time next season. Apparently Super Stevie Claridge really rates the attitude of Jackson. He has huge potential and I think we would regret it big time if someone else gets him!

According to one of his many 'paid for blogs' he also rated King.
MPH Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 1m plus 500k if we get promoted it will likely be. We definately need another striker. what other option are out there?

fosse25 Posted 14 July 2009 Posted 14 July 2009 i know everyone says this but i live in morecambe and i have a few friends that are morecambe fans so i go and watch a few of there games too they say he was 1 of the best strikers in that league last season and that he ran rings round a lot of defenders last year he is worth a gamble but not at 1.5 million he might not be first team yet but by the end of the season he might be. he is fast and that is what alot of people wanted someone with pace. so give him a shot i say i would like to get lita and pay him a big goal bonus as we dont have to pay any transfer fee for him
