lou Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 The Bernie Mania always struck me as a bit off, to be honest. No doubt I'm being overly PC but I always found it a little bit sad. Everyone harping on about how much of a legend he is isn't exactly cheering along with him, they're ultimately laughing at a chap who's clearly not all there.Hope he's alright, sad if not. But I agree with Tilley really... legend? Christ. Bang on the money!

Apart from twats trying to make him perform for their shitty cameraphones like a circus freakshow, people are trying to be nice. He's accepted and looked after in a way.

Most of the videos on YouTube are people expecting him to perform like a trained chimp which is obviously wrong, but there is a lot of affection for the bloke and admiration for the undying support he has offered the club for longer than most posters on here have been alive. I'd hesitate to call him a legend, but he is after all an extremely loyal supporter and I'd be saddened if this rumour turned out to be true.

Almost always the sort of peoples who things TyPiNg In AlTeRnAtInG CaPiTaLs is the height of cool as well. But yeah exactly, he's almost certainly mad but people are still for the most part far more affectionate than piss-taking.
lildave3 Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Bernie is fantastic. He's the modern day Michael Jackson. Weird as ****, but loved for what he does
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Has anyone noticed though that sometimes he would get up in the middle of a match and walk off and he wouldnt be see again.
Koke Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 I always wondered how he affords going to every single match. I mean, who would employ a man in such a dire state? He's quite a character and he's a loyal supporter - I got nothing against him, even though you can smell him 7 blocks away.

I've been on trains a couple of times when city fans have told non city fan ****** actually taking the piss out of him what's what. I'm sure most pisshead geriatrics who aren't 'all there' would love to have thousands of people who know who they are, say hi to them, look out for them.
Uncle Albert Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Don't get me wrong, I hope he's ok.... but, legend?? ! My thoughts exactly. Hope he hasnt passed away but in all honesty the man is a fucking idiot.
lou Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Has anyone noticed though that sometimes he would get up in the middle of a match and walk off and he wouldnt be see again. Hes in the concourse finishing off all the dregs in beer glasses people have left
Big Ol' Bob Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I LOVE TO WORSHIP TRAMPS WHO STINK OF PISS AND WEAR FACEPAINT!!!!!
Darkzzz_ Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I hope I am him in 40 years time. The thought of drinking my own piss and smelling of vomit at the age of 63 excites me.

Apparently, he was a chartered accountant in his younger days and was fairly well-paid. Quite how this has paid for an intravenous beer drip for the past 20 years as well as every City game is something of a mystery though.

lou Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Maybe he still is a chartered accountant.... I have a wonderful image now of Bernie suited and booted on a Monday morning with his briefcase! Friday nights he soils himself and puts on the smelly blue tracksuit ready for Saturdays game... Brilliant

Asha Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I have a wonderful image now of Bernie suited and booted on a Monday morning with his briefcase! Aye, with his hair slicked back and a twinkle in his eye.
isaidno Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Bernie used to work with my dad in the knitwear business.
lcfc_jme Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 Hope he's fine, obviously. He is no hero or legend of mine, though. I feel sorry for him more than anything.
Corky Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 Another thread said that he was seen in Loughborough yesterday, alive and well
Ultra Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 I'm sure he'll be seen at either Mansfield or Shrewsbury...
Part Of The Crowd Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 We have our equivilent to Bernie down in franchise country, he's known as Wolfie or Wolfman, turns up in a homemade leapord print affair, has a tattoo of the club logo on his forehead, is drunk, and occasionally wipes up the result of a kid having a burger too many with his jacket. For this reason I hope your Bernie is alright, as I know the attachment that can be formed to these bastions of awesomeness.
