Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 May 2011 Posted 26 May 2011 Rome in Italy has many truely great sights (including the ladies!!!) but the colleseum (sorry not sure of spelling) is absolutely amazing, went there in 2007, ive just come back from a holiday which took in Oslo in Norway, Copenhagen in Denmark, Stockholm in Sweden, Helsinki in Finland, St Petersburg in Russia, Tallinn in Estonia and Bruges in Belgium which all had wonderful sights but the best were Church on the Spilled Blood, Catherines Palace and the Hermitage in St Petersburg - all three were just breathtaking

Yeah for a couple of nights had my birthday there to be honest after doing Copenhagen and Stockholm just before, Oslo dissapointed a little still loved it but compared to the other 2 it was a little second rate. The rest of Norway especially Geringer Fjords and Nordkapp where truly stunning.
ajthefox Posted 27 May 2011 Posted 27 May 2011 Been there Sam, well I've been to Yosemites and looked across at Half Moon from opposite. Got a few photos lurking around at home, shall try and get them up in summer

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 27 May 2011 Posted 27 May 2011 probably, and you've seen more of norway than i have... where did you go in oslo, should have given us a shout. Mainly just walked around the city and port all day, visited the viking mueseum, the freaky nude sculpture park. Was staying at camp Bogstard which was a bit out of town but had a really beautiful lake there. After Oslo stayed in Andalsnes (stunning) and did a day trip to the fjords from there. Trondeheim, Steinjeker, Korgen, Tysfjord, Skibotn (did an artic polar plunge up there off a 3metre high bridge in to a freezing river almost died) , Russenes (up near Nordkapp). Also did Bobsledding on the old Lillehammer Track that was so much fun. You live there get visiting it's a great country.

MikeyT Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 came across this the other day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Crest_Trail basically a hiking trail that runs all the way from the mexican to canadian border across America. People walk segments whilst a couple hundred a year attempt the 2600 mile trip across the whole thing. Apparently takes around 4 months walking about 20 miles a day. The scenery it takes you past looks absolutely stunning. Can imagine itd be an amazing experience to walk even some of it. Looks amazing there. Want to be there now!!!

StanSP Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 http://www.amusingplanet.com/2011/05/astronaut-paolo-nespolis-photos-of.html Mind. Blown. It's like on first sighting (before reading descriptions) that they're zoomed in pictures of something in a garden or actually on ground level on earth, as opposed to from space!

How much did it end up costing you? Already seen a bit of Norway (been through Hardangervidda, been to Bergen, Oslo and the beautiful south coast as well as the top of Galdhøpiggen), but definitely want to see Lofoten, Nordkapp along with some midnight sun and northern lights if possible before I quit this Earth

Just stayed in Cabins the whole way thru Scandinavia.

The transport must've cost a bomb altogether though. I mean, getting from Gardermoen (Airport) to Oslo alone costs about 180 Nkr. And coming from Down Under you must've won the lottery
