StanSP Posted 18 November 2010 Posted 18 November 2010 I think it might have been Stez who mentioned an astronaut on Twitter who posts pictures taken from space for us to look at. Well on the space station he's on, they have a hi-res camera called the Cupola, and some of the fascination pictures can be seen on this website: http://www.esa.int/esaHS/SEMG2856JGG_index_mg_7_s_b.html Pictures 6 through to 9 are my favourites, number 7.

BoneDog Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/11/national_geographics_photograp.html Woah, there's some powerful pics in there. That is the best Praying Mantis picture I've ever seen. And the Music of Love picture is awesome. You could use that to explain the meaning of life! Lovely stuff.
StanSP Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/11/national_geographics_photograp.html These are brilliant. I'm only up to #22!! Each one holds so much meaning.
Zingari Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 Lovely shot of a bird in flight. Something makes me imagine that bird is thinking " OH SHIT !"
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 That bird isn't in flight, it's being held by its wingtips under it's belly and forced to perform for the cameras!
Daggers Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 It's a phoenix! The bastard which flew into me as I was doing 80 a couple of months back didn't rise up again. It did leave me covered in more shit than a scat fan could dream of though.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Serves you right for speeding! But at least you finished it off humanely. Like the advert says: "At 30 mph there's a 70% chance you will kill me - at 20 mph there's 70% chance I'll live (in excruciating agony for the rest of my life)" They always leave the bracketed bits out though. Can't we just teach people to look first?
StanSP Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 I know it's a few months ago, but how awesome would this be! Just looking at the pictures and I'm blown away http://www.funzug.com/index.php/nature/amazing-sight-in-the-south-pacific.html
StanSP Posted 25 January 2011 Posted 25 January 2011 Not sure what volcano it is, but here's what it's like from space as it's erupting. Incredible.

samlcfc Posted 25 May 2011 Posted 25 May 2011 came across this the other day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Crest_Trail basically a hiking trail that runs all the way from the mexican to canadian border across America. People walk segments whilst a couple hundred a year attempt the 2600 mile trip across the whole thing. Apparently takes around 4 months walking about 20 miles a day. The scenery it takes you past looks absolutely stunning. Can imagine itd be an amazing experience to walk even some of it.
