If the balance of gases etc. in the universe were a degree different from what they are then there would be no life at all. But out of the infinite combinations possible, all these elements are perfectly balanced to hold life. So if it was chance, then I would call it a mircale that out of nowhere everything had just 'appeared'. That doesn't work though. You can't do that at the end of a sequence of co-incidences. If you shuffle a pack of cards and lay them out in a row until you're done, the chance of them having come out in that order is something in the order of billions and billions to one, but I don't think that proves divine providence, does it?

Maybe some branches of Christianity could (the newer versions) but most religion I know about says stand up against corruption, so I think that it would just cause the leaders trouble if everyone was religious. I don't think it would help them control us. Yes I do see how the church has used it's power for control. Make your mind up, chuck!!

First one said how some parts of Christianity is used for helping leaders control people, and the second one said about the church (I don't mean all churches or pastors, priests, vicars and whatever though, just some, especially in the US - the fake ass pastors on the TV stations). I still say that most of religion says stand up against corruption, so I don't see how it would help our 'leaders'.

I don't understand what you mean (reconsider what, wanting a debate? Or reconsider wanting action?!). I never meant anything like confrontation when I said action. It is true though that when that thread was going there were loads of posts in gc all day. I enjoy reading those debates, that's what I meant. It's not the main reason I post in general chat, but it's one of the highlights for me, can't see what wrong with that

No religion says kill your family if they want to run off with someone else. And many white English or American men who aren't religious murder their wives/girlfriends/family all the time. There are more murders in America than anywhere and most of them have nothing to do with religion. Insest what has that got to do with religion? That's just practised by perverts. And how can a pervert be religious? They can pretend to be yes. But if religion didn't exist, there would still be as many perverts in the world. There would also be just as many murderers, wars oppression and everything else that people blame on religion. I'm not saying people could live to 700 by the way, cos I don't know about that. I'm just saying it is possible to live at least 80 years on top of what people reach if we had no pollution in water, food, atmosphere etc. before the industrial revalution people were considered lucky to reach 70. nowdays people live to 90/100 if you ignore major health problems either heriditary and as a result of their lifestyle and deaths directly caused by other humans (murder, servicemen and women dieing in action etc.)
