Brainy Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 The people waiting outside wanting to get a thug's autograph
lou Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 He'll get away with a small fine (like thats gonna hurt him) or a few hours playing football with some local kids. OR he'll get found not guilty Id take out a civil action and sue the pratt
Simi Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 The people waiting outside wanting to get a thug's autograph Yes because until this incident nobody had heard of Steven Gerrard, Liverpool legend and England international.
RedHux Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 He did say sorry so i guess thats okay!!Or making him play for City as punishment..... :D Footballers are always saying they deserve to be treated as if it was just a normal job as far as contracts/wages etc goes. I know if I'd belted someone and ended up in court for it my employers would take a very dim view of it.
Flynny Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Yes because until this incident nobody had heard of Steven Gerrard, Liverpool legend and England international. Who?
Simi Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Who? Steven Gerrard mate, made his name decking some willy puller outside a club. Might have seen him on the news a couple of times this week I reckon.
Fox92 Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Can I just say I love Steven Gerrard very much, he is my most favourite player in the world I know he did this, but do we know if the man actually wound him up or something - we don't actually know what happened and although the CCTV footage says so, you can hardly make out what happened If he did, then it serves himself right, because we all know how Gerrard can get wound up on the football pitch never mind in a nightclub thing.

If I decked every person who wound me up, I would not only spend most of my time hitting people, but would also find myself up in court facing assault charges. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Guest Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 Breaking news:Not Guilty I would love to know how the discussions went in the jury room!
AjcW Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 I would love to know how the discussions went in the jury room! You and me both, to be fair its the most feeble self defence plea I have ever heard "oh i though he might punch me so i punched him(several times). As someone who has studied law for a plea of self defence to be allowed it has to be proved that the self defence was reasonable, I dont see how bunching someone repeatedly is valid self defence myself but oh well, another footballer gets away with it.
Babylon Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 I would love to know how the discussions went in the jury room! How about "that 5k bribe each will come in handy, not guilty it is then". What an absolute shambles.

This is what happens with jury trials. The law says one thing, but it's down to those 12 people to decide if that's the case or not. Have you been to watch any real life trials? That's a real eye opener!! The one Crown Court trial I saw on my mini-pupillage was unbelievable; the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, when it was so obvious that the guy had done it. They were no doubt of the opinion that the victim deserved what was coming to him, and/or that a frail old man could not have done what he was accused of doing. This was in spite of the evidence going against him. I also knew that the defendant had previous for the same thing, and had been found guilty on that occasion, but as you know, that cannot be put to the jury.
haraven Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 If he was found not guilty, obviously there were not enough Everton supporters among the jurors.
Maybes Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 Lets be honest we hardly know every fine detail of the case.....
Matt Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 Lets be honest we hardly know every fine detail of the case..... Exactly, I know Gerrard is famous, does have alot of money and it is easy to make conclusions he has just been 'let off', he had admitted throwing a punch but thats about all we know really, but obviously most of the people on here were witnesses on the night. Having said that a couple of my mates a few Christmases ago were involved in an incident where a group of lads kicked off for no reason, but my mates are pretty tough lads - the group kicked off with the wrong lads, my mates were just acting in self defence but got abit carried away ended up battering the group of lads, my mates were the ones who got in trouble, only got warning's/fines/community service but it looks like Gerrard got off scott free.
davieG Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 Not exactly a new phenomenon people with money and with the right contacts have been getting away with it for years, even murder. They don't know what happened to Lord Lucan, now that's funny - Where's El Empty when your looking for a good conspiracy theory?

davieG Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 I know where he is. I always knew you were one of those 'special people'
dandannieldanok Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 What a joke! Self-defence? It was Gerrard's mate that initiated the violence and then he followed with no apparent provocation. I know it's hardly crime of the century but people get away with far too much mindless violence.
Ultra Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 I bet Joey Barton wishes he'd hired the same legal team as Gerrard..

Too right, if we had one King like Henry V111 and no Prime minister people it would be better and the country would be a better, safer, nicer place. Prison sentences should be better as well, and also the death sentance should be around like in America. People do anything because they know they can get away with it... Not talking about the legend Stevie Gerrard here, just England in general.
