Lillehamring Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 It's quite funny though. I remember one night me & my mates were completely stoned and we came up with gazillions of negative thing accosiated with the word "black" - Although to be fair, with some of them we were clutching at straws did you include the prize game in 'bullseye' - 'stay out of the black and into the red...' as i say, not really a suprise, though, given such ancient, nay primordial associations - not that that is much comfort if you happen to be a persecuted black man
Hugo Sanchez Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 did you include the prize game in 'bullseye' - 'stay out of the black and into the red...'as i say, not really a suprise, though, given such ancient, nay primordial associations - not that that is much comfort if you happen to be a persecuted black man Yeah but what about the Neil Young lyric ... Out of the blue and into the black You pay for this, but they give you that And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black Are they infact more then just lyrics but more of a insult to black people all over the world ?
Koke Posted 5 August 2009 Author Posted 5 August 2009 Are they infact more then just lyrics but more of a insult to black people all over the world ? I'm starting a race riot in Leicester now. And in 20 years time, some knucklehead will make a film based on me.
Dr The Singh Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I'm starting a race riot in Leicester now.And in 20 years time, some knucklehead will make a film based on me. I've already started making one, it's called Kareem's Cream, it's a porno!!

Zingari Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 thinking about the conundrum of why so many bad things are associated with 'darkness' an 'blackness', and it probably stems from the associations of fear, and i don't mean charles manson helter-skelter fear but the most common type of fear found in western society, that of the 'unknown'...most fear is usually some strand of a 'fear of the unknown', especially 'fear of death' and 'fear of the dark', both of which are naturally associated with darkness, in the case of death, the dark/black element is from the comparitive sensation of 'an eternal sleep' thus, things that are perceived as bad are inextricably linked to 'blackness' and 'darkness', complimentray to this is 'birth' and 'sunshine', things connected to life are connected with lightness... pretty simple really.... just an unfortunate coincidence that black people fall into this first, ahem, colour scheme... good explanation all here in black and white some folks is just too damn sensitive
Koke Posted 5 August 2009 Author Posted 5 August 2009 I've already started making one, it's called Kareem's Cream, it's a porno!! Kareem's Bukkake Cream Kareem = black Cream = white We're all winners.
MC Prussian Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I'm starting a race riot in Leicester now.And in 20 years time, some knucklehead will make a film based on me. There's only one knucklehead who can use the word "knucklehead" on a knucklehead basis: Yes, Charles Barkley. Oh, and btw: What do you make of this "Brown vs. Black" debate? What are people with an African background more likely to respond when asked about the colour of their skin?
Alexikokopops Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 What do you make of this "Brown vs. Black" debate? What are people with an African background more likely to respond when asked about the colour of their skin? I find you avoid many of the pitfalls associated with this by calling all people with an African background "chocolatey"
cisono Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 OK, but how do you explain this:Wild rice = Black/Brown Regular rice = White Blatant racism, I think. It's a compliment, as I see it! Wild/interesting/good-for-you rice = Black/Brown Regular/nothing special/mass-of-glue rice = White
cisono Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I find you avoid many of the pitfalls associated with this by calling all people with an African background "chocolatey" Great idea! I cannot think of any people that would object to being associated with chocolate
Koke Posted 5 August 2009 Author Posted 5 August 2009 I used to go to school with this innocent Vietnameese boy and he always asked me hook him up with some "chocolate sisters" Even to this day I laugh at that phrase.
Koke Posted 5 August 2009 Author Posted 5 August 2009 What do you make of this "Brown vs. Black" debate? What are people with an African background more likely to respond when asked about the colour of their skin? When I was younger and lighter I could pass myself as brown without problems. I've become a lot darker in the last 6-7 years. On application forms I always tick White British or sometimes Other in the ethnicity box just to annoy the fuck out of them.
lou Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I call my kids Brown as theyre mixed race and full Black people I call Black. Ive never met a black person yet who was offended by being called Black. I do find terms like "Coloured and Half Caste" offensive but not to the extent Id pull someone up for saying it. We just dont use the terms in our household.
Koke Posted 5 August 2009 Author Posted 5 August 2009 Ive never met a black person yet who was offended by being called Black. I'm deeply offended that you have called me black time & time again. Racist. Just because I am black doesn't mean you can call me black.
lou Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I'm deeply offended that you have called me black time & time again. Racist. Just because I am black doesn't mean you can call me black.
lou Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I'd prefer it if you all called me 'pinkish'. Then youd better call me Pinkish with Brownish face and arms
Webbo Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I am L'Oreal Fair to Medium at the moment. Because you're worth it.
Koke Posted 5 August 2009 Author Posted 5 August 2009 I've always found it funny that black women use all these chemicals to become lighter and at the same time their white women friends are going to Spain to get a tan and become a bit darker-ish. I wish people could donate their skin colours to other people to balance it out a bit and we'd all live happily ever after. No one wants to be as pale as Andres Iniesta and no one wants to be as black & ugly as Wesley Snipes.
lou Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Same thing as Curly haired people straightening it and straight haired people having it permed.... no ones bloody happy with what theyve got My youngest had perfect ringlets but has straightened the feck out of her hair so much shes bloody ruined it!
