martyn Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I know this may not be of use to anyone but well, thought I'd share the wealth regardless. Orange are increasing their minimum phone call charge for out of allowance minutes from 4.9 to 14.7p starting in September, including to 0870 numbers and voicemail. They are sending out text messages informing of the change over the coming days. This price change activates term 4.3 in their terms and conditions: "4.3 You may also terminate your Contract if we vary its terms, resulting in an excessive increase in the Charges or changes that alter your rights under this Contract to your detriment" You can quote this to Orange CS and you should be able to cancel your contract accordingly. Finally i have been able to get rid of this awful phone and awful network which means I can get 1 bar maximum signal in central London. For more info I suggest reading the following 2 webpages thoroughly: http://www.bitterwallet.com/orange-increas...-contract/15723 http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showth....html?t=1825687

Bellend Sebastian Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I'll just use it as an incentive not to go over my minutes. Which I don't do generally anyway
lou Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Thing is with Phone companies theyre like political parties......... all as bad as eachother. Think Ive tried just about all of em and none have been any good.
Hitesh Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Def worth doing, even if you haven't got the text. I'd suggest reading all the comments on the bitterwallet page about this too as it really prepares you for when you are on the phone to them! It worked for me although my scenario was slightly different as I was due an unexpected upgrade, but either way they were happy to cancel my contract at first before finding this out!
Hitesh Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I have wanted to cancel for ages, thank god for this Did you try it/did it work?
Sir Fynwy Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 Initially I thought 'great I'll cancel and get a new phone' but on reflection no other company is going to offer me 1200 mins, unlimited text, unlimited internet (subject to ....) and the ability to ignore work calls because I'm out of coverage for <£20 a month.
Darkzzz_ Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 Bonus. I will cancel, I have been paying £40 a month for mine, couldn't wait to get rid now I will try this.

Tomassi Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 Ive just finished my 18 month Orange Contract, and was set to renew it Wednesday but i didnt like any of the new phones. After being screwede around by o2 before, i vowed never to go back to them and the Orange contract has been brilliant to me, 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £35 a month. They are now offering me 600 mins, unlimited texts, free internet and free sat nav for £30 per month. i never use all my minutes but send about 200 texts a month. This to me sounds like a cracking deal, as i wont go over the minutes so wont risk facing the 15p a minute charge, as i also very rarely get answer fone messages. The orange shop was trying to offer me a 5880, but i am dead against touch screen fones. Not sure what to do now...

If you already have a phone and like it, why don't you go for the 'sim only' option, the £30 a month deal may turn out to be around £20, saving you £10 for the non alcoholic beverages or alcoholic beverages for the poon!!
rs_shadow0000 Posted 30 July 2009 Posted 30 July 2009 Def account doing, even if you haven't got the text. I'd advance account all the comments on the bitterwallet page about this too as it absolutely prepares you for if you are on the buzz to them! It formed for me although my book was hardly altered as I was due an abrupt upgrade, but either way they were blessed to abolish my arrangement at aboriginal afore award this out! _________________ ip pbx
