Sparky Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Clubs agree to avoid fixture clashes29 July 2009, 5:25 pmBy Andy Mann Following the recommendation of the Safety Advisory Group, which includes Leicester Tigers and Leicester City, that both clubs play their home games at least 24 hours apart both clubs spoke to their respective governing bodies about the need to avoid, where possible, any home fixture clashes for the 2009/10 season. The governing bodies were very accommodating and understood the reasons for this. When the fixtures were provisionally released, instead of the seven or eight fixture clashes both clubs have experienced in previous seasons, there were only two fixture clashes to discuss, on Boxing Day and Saturday, January 9. Both Leicester City and Leicester Tigers sat round the table and discussed how best to avoid the clashes. It was agreed that Leicester City would keep their traditional Boxing Day fixture, this season against Sheffield United kick off 3pm, as Tigers have previously played home games on both December 26 and December 27, when they traditionally played the Barbarians. It was agreed that Tigers would move their fixture against Sale Sharks to Sunday, December 27, kick off 3pm. It was also agreed Tigers would retain their Saturday, January 9, fixture with London Wasps, kick off 3pm, and City would move their game against Ipswich Town to Sunday, January 10, kick off 3pm. The clubs agreed they would use a fair system of alternating kick off changes for future fixture clashes with the proviso that live television broadcasts would take priority. This will result, over the course of the season, in a fair and equal number of fixture changes for both clubs

God knows why the fixture lists couldnt be done so we don't clash in the first place.
john_lcfc Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 still think they should move every time. We're bigger, matter more and football is the national sport.

Suppose its hard enough trying to sort all the clashes in the football league that they have to avoid without them having to avoid local rugby ones too.
Webbo Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 It was also agreed Tigers would retain their Saturday, January 9, fixture with London Wasps, kick off 3pm, and City would move their game against Ipswich Town to Sunday, January 10, kick off 3pm. I alway celebrate Volunteer Firefighters Day. on January the 10th. Why do we always have to change to suit the eggchasers.
Babylon Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 with the proviso that live television broadcasts would take priority. How often are we on TV compared to them!! I hope this doesn't mean if they get chosen for a tv game and it's moved to one of our home days, we then have to shift ours!
Nick Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I bet some will still be unhappy with this..... Here they all are now Lisa, let's not share anything, we have the divine right to get what we want every time, egg chasers........... la blah la blah blah.

Guest Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 How often are we on TV compared to them!! I hope this doesn't mean if they get chosen for a tv game and it's moved to one of our home days, we then have to shift ours! I would have thought that it would be moved from a Saturday to Friday night, or to a Sunday, and not changed drastically, say from one Saturday to the next.
Babylon Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I would have thought that it would be moved from a Saturday to Friday night, or to a Sunday, and not changed drastically, say from one Saturday to the next. I don't want any of them moving... I only go to Saturday games!!!!!
Jay Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 How often are we on TV compared to them!! I hope this doesn't mean if they get chosen for a tv game and it's moved to one of our home days, we then have to shift ours! most of the European cup games they play are on a Saturday aren't they? so I guess we will have loads of changes this season!! I trust as TV is the priority we will then be getting some sort of financial settlement due to the reduced gate when moving from a saturday to a friday evening or something
wigstonexile Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 still think they should move every time. We're bigger, matter more and football is the national sport. I say this as a LCFC supporter of 50+ years. The support of Football and Rugby union in Leicester is about equal, so so there needs to be a sensible approach to the problem. As the tigers ground increases in capacity it won't be to far behind the walkers. I'm sure we can live together and support our team as well as giving praise to the oval ball and all there achievements!!!.

I being Leicester born and having supported both clubs for many years find your remarks offensive as I work full time and went to a ordinary state school. Is it so difficult to wish all countys team well.

Is it so difficult to wish all countys team well. Yes when there fans are nobheads. I hope what happened to Notts RFC happens to Tigers. They are nothing but a pain in my life, constantly moving our fixtures, being arrogant and annoying about how they "win" things and occassionally getting some media attention that would be better spent on football transfer gossip rather than their new shitty 10,000 stand. WOW.
john_lcfc Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 You can stick your fooking tigers up your arse! I remember staying behind singing this when their was talk of a groundshare "One team in Leicester, theres only one team in Leicester"
