Your first game against Swansea

I'm interested to here your views of this fixture. Swansea were certainly the surprise package last season but have lost their main assets in the manager and perhaps their best player this summer. So perhaps they could be considered a weaker team from the one that ended last season.

Usually a team that gets promoted seems to get off to good starts especially for those teams who are playing in a higher division for the first time. Most would have said you guys should have not gone down so perhaps the novelty of playing in this league will not count.

Certainly an interesting fixture and I would not like to guess which way it goes.

When was the last time we won the opening match on home soil?

I can only remember as far back as Luton away under R. Kelly - and we lost.

I can't remember a win on the opening game of the season in the Championship it must have been so long.

Remember being 2-0 up to Southampton in the Prem and Phillips scored a stunner, it ended up 2-2 and that set the tone for the season, we always lead and nearly always lost or drew, a lot of the time in the last few minutes.

Remember losing 2-0 at Luton, losing 4-1 at Sheff Utd, watched both of those on the tele, and the 1-0 loss at home to Blackpool 2 seasons ago.

Last season was a League One opening day win, would be fooking nice to finally win on the opening day in the Championship.

We may have done it years and years ago beating QPR 1-0 with a Connoly peno, although i may have just imagined that :P

Watford 7 years ago was when we last won a home match on the opening day in the Championship :P

Last time we won at home in the championship/division 1 was in 2002, when we beat Watford 2-0. We later went on to get promotion.

Does anyone see a pattern? We beat Watford 2-0 with a brace from Brian Deane, and 6 years later, we beat MK Dons 2-0 with a brace from Fryatt.

If we are lucky it will be nil v nil

It's a new era people!

Forget this first game Championship jinx we had, times are changing and we're going to win it comfortably!

My prediction; 2-0, should have been 4 or 5 nil.

First games are always a nervous affair. Nothing to do with the on field action, no. It's about the person who could potentially be sitting next to you for the whole season that is the worry.

I've moved seats and there are season ticket holders to my left - please do not be overweight (covering half my seat) / a 3 year old whining and chucking crisps at me / some moaning bstard.

We drew too many home games last season. Swansea drew plenty of games both home and away.

So most pools pundits will put this down as a draw.

We could really do with a win, though, especially given the tough trips to Portman Road and Bramall Lane that follow.
