Karljohn Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I went on my own last night, saw a couple of lads that I know but its no big deal for me to travel on my own as the missus was working and couldnt come along last night. It also saves me getting an ear bashing of her when I had to take a leak on the way back to the car after the game in the street.
leftsideoverhere Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Would recommend having some children - it's a long-term strategy, but if you keep trying, eventually you'll get one that will go to games with you. Well, it worked for me anyhow.
Corky Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Never been to an away on my own, but I have been to home matches alone. You will miss the company of talking and doing things with people, but you can dictate what you do, when you want to go etc so on that side of things it's not too bad.
skinnydipper Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I went to the Crewe game on my own last season. My son was away but I wanted to go as it was the last game of the season. Had hoped to meet some off here but that was thwarted by some incredibly bad luck !! Still had a good day though.
Ozwin Posted 19 August 2009 Author Posted 19 August 2009 How do you know if you're meeting a FT'er though, I don't think I've seen a picture of anyone on here, well... ever?
skinnydipper Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 How do you know if you're meeting a FT'er though, I don't think I've seen a picture of anyone on here, well... ever? Arranged by P.M Oh yeah, and the red carnation in the buttonhole
Granno Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 How do you know if you're meeting a FT'er though, I don't think I've seen a picture of anyone on here, well... ever? Add people on facebook and shit like that. Or just say 'Hey do you post on Foxestalk'. Even if they don't it still gets the site name out there
Head Honcho Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I prefer to go on my own and maybe meet up with a few mates or on the other hand maybe not. When we play in London I like to take in a bit of shopping and maybe a museum before the match so being on my own is just great. .............as long as I'm in the pub for around 4.30ish
Katy Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 How do you know if you're meeting a FT'er though, I don't think I've seen a picture of anyone on here, well... ever? <_<
Guest Bilo Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 How do you know if you're meeting a FT'er though, I don't think I've seen a picture of anyone on here, well... ever? In my case, look for someone who looks like either Will from the Inbetweeners or a skinny Alan Carr. Tragically, I've been compared to both.

lildave3 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I probably would yeah, fortunately I know enough people on here that I could always find someone to go with.
Koke Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 How do you know if you're meeting a FT'er though, I don't think I've seen a picture of anyone on here, well... ever? <_<
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I'm only just contemplating going to a home game at all.

You're actually a carbon copy of a fella I used to work with many years ago. You're so identical - the height, glasses and hairstyle.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 And I thought that was you in your avatar Plenty to be said for the Slim Fast diet.

skinnydipper Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Plenty to be said for the Slim Fast diet. And the cure for jaundice
tbf Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Yeah i tend to decide I am going and then see who wants to come too (non-Leicester fans). Usually I end up going on my own but those that do come usually have a great time. I was apprehensive at first about doing it but I've never looked back. Do it. Do it.
Guest Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I am really surprised by this topic. I didn't think blokes minded going to places alone, and when I first started going to games, it seemed like there were a lot of them about! For me, I was more concerned that as a single female, I would be seen as a sad loner. But I didn't want to miss games, and went on my own any way. It's easy to get talking to people once you're out and about, especially if you are a lone female..... You're actually a carbon copy of a fella I used to work with many years ago. You're so identical - the height, glasses and hairstyle. There's a guy at my gym who looks very much like Bilo; I had to do a double take when I first saw him, and he spotted me, so lord knows what he thinks!!
LCFC-ARAB Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 i never knew there was so many people who went games alone fair play to you! i dont think i'd ever go to an away game alone cause i dont really like talking to people.... so would be shit at the making friends part
foxoffderby Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I goto home matches with my brother who lives in Leicester, but because of work he doesnt go to many away. Living in Derby I dont know many city fans and end up going to a lot of away games on my own. You do end up talking to the person next to you and I often wonder if so and so a few seats down is on foxestalk. Maybe one day will meet some of you guys in person. Its not bad though we are all a family united in blue.
bigneville Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Only been to a couple on my own. It's a bit daunting at first, but you can soak up the atmosphere and had a good time. I met up with some FT'ers at Stockport away last year, made my day a lot easier.
