Ozwin Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I want to go to as many as possible this year but a lot of my mates either don't have the cash or don't support Leicester so I'm in two minds.
Granno Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 You meet loads of people. I used to go on my own. Now I go with my mate, also NSLL from here.
Guest Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I sometimes go on my own, don't fuss me. Would be good to meet some FTers sometime though, that's my mission, should I choose to accept it
AoWW Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Yes, have been to countless away games on my own. It's no big deal, really. You'll always find someone to have a chat with.
Joe. Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 If there was nobody else to meet up with then no. I'd probably travel on my own though. Half the fun of an away day is in the company...

Yeah that's exactly what I think. The whole make a day out of it thing. On your own you can't really do that.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I travel away on my own. Not the biggest deal in the world. I have plenty of coach entertainment, and I spoke to a couple of people on the way back yesterday (also had some good central reservation fun with Granno and NSLL against Ipswich) I go to support my team, so if I didn't make any friends, it's not that big a deal, but I imagine it isn't that hard, I mean we're all going for the same reason. In terms of in the ground, it's fine. I have stood and sat next to great people against Ipswich and Sheff Utd, all sound. No problems at this end
chesterfox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 being a sad bastard stuck up north and billy no mates - I often go on my own. Try to bring my son as often as possible or try FT spotting - have seen the great Thrac at Tranmere - perhaps should set up an FT meet......anyway it's still good
Ozwin Posted 19 August 2009 Author Posted 19 August 2009 Being at the actual match wouldn't be a problem, it's the travel down and the hanging around doing something before the game that'd do me.

That's what bothered me the most when I started last Saturday But so far, we have arrived at the ground with 45m and 1 hour to kick off, so I just go to the stand and wait for kick off. I may look like a lonely ****, but it's something to do. I am sure we'll get to a ground one day with 90-120 mins before kick off (maybe) i'd have to find something to do then.

BedsFox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I always go on my own Partly, I am a loner Partly I am based North of Luton, so have to at least get there on my own I also enjoy getting to grounds and in the stadium early. Many of my friends think this is barmy I am sure I have run into quite a few people on here at games, but wouldn't know it!!

Chelsea the other year, cos I came straight from work in central london, I was there almost 2 hours early
Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I used to do home games on my own, which is probably why I didn't go to many before I met a lot of people off here.
Bryn Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I'm thinking of doing it this year, my Dad can never be arsed to go to games. Living up in the North East half the year and the North West half the year I'm tempted to catch a couple of away games but would probably have to come by myself.
Rich_Sheffield Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I go all the time on my own, lets face it we've all got something in common. met a load of sound people.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Similar to what Alex said above I go to home games alone aswell as away games (away games now my friend can't afford it ) Is it that big a deal though, I didnt think it was. Maybe I understated it
Kilworthfox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I want to go to as many as possible this year but a lot of my mates either don't have the cash or don't support Leicester so I'm in two minds. All the time mate. Just organise something with people off here, get a lift or something. You will meet loads of people from FT they are all friendly even the utter twats

What's the problem? It means you can go at whatever time you like rather than at the most sensible time, make of the day exactly as you like and return when you like. I generally travel with family and/or friends and it seems to work out well but have also travelled alone on occasions and enjoyed it just the same.
Webbo Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I went to Scvnthorpe away on my own a couple of years ago after the person I was going with let me down. Can't say that I enjoyed it.
Matt Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 You meet loads of people. I used to go on my own. Now I go with my mate, also NSLL from here. Saw you yesterday at the service station, from a distance, was time to get back to the coach though.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Didn't bother me when I went to Peterborough on my own as I met a few people from FT there and had a bloody good day in the end, despite the result. Once you start meeting a few off here, you should have no reason to go on your own.
Katy Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I have gone to home and away games on my own in the past when I've had to, rather that than miss games. Obviously I prefer to go with others as it's more of a laugh and it makes travelling less dull.
