maddog Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Our only 2 League meetings this decade against Blackpool have both ended in defeats, a 1-0 loss at the Walkers Stadium where we dominated but couldn't put the ball in the net, followed by a 2-1 loss at Bloomfield Road. We have met them numerous times in cup competitions this decade though, in 01/02 we knocked them out of the League Cup at Bloomfield, winning 1-0 after extra time. In 04/05 we beat them away in a FA Cup replay 1-0 after drawing 2-2 at home. And in 05/06 we beat them 2-1 in the League Cup at home. I agree with Wellens when he says we need maximum points from these 2 home matches, only then can we say we have started the Championship well. Last time we expected an easy victory under MA though, and were shocked to lose to the solitary goal. Blackpool have started very well under Ollie, they are yet to lose in the Championship, and have scored 9 goals in their previous 3 matches, clearly not lacking in the attacking and scoring department like ourselves, including a 4-1 pummeling of Premier League side Wigan in the Carling Cup. So to win this game would be a good achievement i think, and will give the boys a lot of credit, this isn't an easy match at all with the start they've had. The team selection is crucial for NP, he needs to get it right this time, i don't think he did at Newcastle, i would certainly change at least one of the front two and would be playing Adams on the left and Gradel on the right. Hopefully we can bounce back from the defeat at St James' and take all 3 points, i'm sure Holloway will get a great reception I will keep my winning predictions going, and say we will contain Blackpool and win this comfortably 2-0, with Fryatt and Wellens scoring. :locked:

If we take our chances then we will do well in the next few games. We need to get our scoring boots on though. We wasted to many chances at newcastle and got punished for it! The same will happen very often if we dont learn how to finsish. im going to go for 3-0 leicester, once we get one, more goals will come.
