George Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 Alright lads and lasses you might remember me from a few years ago , im a Coventry fan (Here in peace). Just a thread about the match in general, possible line ups etc etc. Good start from both sides i think so far this season, both have good young managers and i think both are being very under rated whilst the likes of Ipswich , Sheff Utd had all the talk, they are both total shit. I think Saturday will be a very good match, both teams like to pass the ball (From what i seen against Newcastle you passed it around and deserved a draw in my opinion) You have got a very good squad, The likes of Fryatt, Gallagher, Oakley and Wellens will provide a good backbone to your team, i was very impressed last season with Wellens at Doncaster Rovers, lovely lfootballer, superb vision, him and the combative Oakley should suit each other. Fryatt ( Like Morrison for us) has started the season on fire, he is finally starting to prove that he can cut it at this level. We have had a very good start in my opinion, we have been knocking the ball around well and outplayed everyone we have played against (Barring Blackpool) We are a bit leaky at the back but its a very youthful back line, The likes of Ben Turner has come on leaps and bounds since the last time we played you and i would expect him to partner Elliot Ward in the back four at centre half, Wardy has been out for a bit with an injury but when hes on form he is a top quality player at this level. The young lad from Chelsea Van Aanholt will make his first start since coming back from injury, he really is one to watch in the future , excellent going forward, very quick and he is a very exciting full back. In the midfield is where we have improved massively, the midfield 3 of Cork , Gunnarsson and Clingan is what is expected to start , they all compliment each other superbly , Gunnarsson has the energy and the bite in midfield, Clingan is the ball player , he is one of the best passers in this division a bit like Wellens he has superb vision and will sit deep and spray the ball. Jack Cork has been a revelation in midfield , really really good player , you can see why he has just signed a 5 year deal with Chelsea, he has every attribute to become a top class player in the future. Up front Morrison and Best have been on fire , scored 10 goals between them ... Best (4) , Morrison (6) . They both hold the ball up very well and they both know where the back of the net is. Besty has improved no end this season, he has all the attributes to become a fine striker, Strong , good in the air, decent finisher and he is lightning quick for a big lad. We will play with a front 3 , Morrison Best Mcindoe. Mcindoe has been getting better with every game, he can beat anyone down the wing and is an excellent crosser of the ball, lost a bit of pace but he can also see a pass. Prediction Coventry 2-0 Leicester Team: Westwood Cranie Turner Ward Van Aanholt Clingan Cork Gunnarsson Morrison Best Mcindoe
Nath Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 I am indeed. Shouldnt you be more concerned about tonight's game first?
DB11 Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 Shouldnt you be more concerned about tonight's game first? Shouldn't they be giving Man Utd a run for the money judging by how he rates his team
Koke Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 I remember George. He was a pretty decent lad for a Cov fan. He wasn't the usual run-of-the-mill Cov cunts - surprisingly. Pretty decent report that.
Fox92 Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Coventry's side this year, I think, is one of the best since they have been in this division. I love watching Sammy Clingan, and is he only 22? I am sure he will be a Premiership player in a few years.
marbelladave Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Thanks George..... Clearly written by a Cov fan, nothing wrong with that, thanks for the 'heads up'. In contrast our team and line up is shrouded in the mists of uncertainty with a couple of nasty surprises lined up for you. (I hope!) With reasonable luck I shall be getting to this one, have a good day George.

I'm really looking forward to this match, cov are looking like a exiting outfit, and seem to be quite open and attacking!!

Shall probably be with the home support. Can't stand being stuck in the corners of wretched half empty grounds! Still I expect there will be a decent crowd saturday even allowing for the silly start time. No time for a pie and a pint, bollox!

As an ardent Leicester fan - I think the two teams will cancel each other out, and Cov will nick it with some assistance from the ref. sorry but i have a downer on this.
MPH Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Hello George and good luck for the season. if you had asked most leicester fans before our result against middlesborough, you would of probably found even less people to be optimistic about the game. Winning away to a team who are 4th in the league is something that the players will gain alot of confidence from aswell.. Considering the good squad Coventry are assembling, i think most Leicester fans would be content with a draw, but a few will have one eye open to the win compared to one eye open to the draw like it might have been before last night!

Yes nothing like some optimism! (Or is it reverse psycology!) Raj and I should be in attendance, we are due a win!

lavrentis Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Fair assessment apart from the prediction though that's expected.
Aeropars Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Anyone know about parking and driving to the Ricoh? I hear its a nightmare to park
MPH Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Anyone know about parking and driving to the Ricoh? I hear its a nightmare to park depends how early you get there. there is a pretty big car park and shopping area just accross from the stadium and i wont confess to ever having got there early, done a bit of shopping at the various places , made sure the bags were visible and then buggering off to the game...

Lillehamring Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 i'd like to see the same side start, not much point changing things for one game, winning it and then going back on yourself, by all accounts howard did well, but perhaps this is more to do with only having to play 30 minutes instead of 90, and having something to prove... by the sounds of it, last night was not a game for strikers, with both ours and theirs seemingly in the pockets of the defenders - kingy seems to have found a bit of form and against a decent midfield, no point rushing wellens back if this is the case now NP has made the commitment to change, it would make sense to stick with it for a few games, especially if we are winning away games as a result... mind you, how similiar is cov's line up and way of playing compared to boro?
Kilworthfox Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Quick question for a football brainiac, When was the last season that Coventry City finished in the top half of any division?

Koke Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Quick question for a football brainiac, When was the last season that Coventry City finished in the top half of any division? I honestly cannot remember. Too far back in history for me to recall.
