StanSP Posted 7 October 2009 Posted 7 October 2009 Saturday 10th October/Wednesday 14th October (Teams in RED are who I think shall will win on the night) Group 1: Denmark v Sweden (10 Oct, 1900 BST) Portugal v Hungary (10 Oct, 2045 BST) Denmark v Hungary (14 Oct) Sweden v Albania (14 Oct) Portugal v Malta (14 Oct) Situations: Two draws - or better - will secure Denmark's qualification. Sweden, Portugal and Hungary can all take advantage if the Danes slip up, otherwise it will be between these three teams for second place and a probable play-off spot. Group 2: Luxembourg v Switzerland (10 Oct, 1745 BST) Israel vMoldova (10 Oct, 1900 BST) Greece v Latvia (10 Oct, 1930 BST) Switzerland v Israel (14 Oct) Greece v Luxembourg (14 Oct) Latvia v Moldova (14 Oct) Any one of four teams could still win the group, though Switzerland are in the box seat with a three-point lead and their next game away to minnows Luxembourg. Greece v Latvia in the next round of matches could go a long way to determining the runner-up spot, assuming Switzerland maintain their lead in the group. Group 3: Slovakia v Slovenia (10 Oct, 1930 BST) Czech Republic v Poland (10 Oct, 1930 BST) Czech Republic v Northern Ireland (14 Oct) San Marino v Slovenia (14 Oct) Poland v Slovakia (14 Oct) Situations: Slovakia need a draw or better against Slovenia to qualify. If they lose, they have another chance to wrap up the group against Poland four days later. Slovenia are the only team that can catch Slovakia, but if they do not do that, they are in pole position to claim second. Northern Ireland, Czech Republic and Poland could all still grab second. Group 4: Finland v Wales (10 Oct, 1500 BST) Russia v Germany (10 Oct, 1700 BST) Liechtenstein v Azerbaijan (10 Oct, 1900 BST) Liechtenstein v Wales (14 Oct) Azerbaijan v Russia (14 Oct) Germany v Finland (14 Oct) Situations: It's a straight race between Germany and Russia for top spot. Germany have the upper hand at the moment, but the 10 October match between the two is likely to be pivotal. The winners of that match are set to top the group (a draw favours Germany), with the team that misses out facing a play-off. Group 5: Estonia v Bosnia-Herzegovina (10 Oct, 1700 BST) Belgium v Turkey (10 Oct, 1945 BST) Armenia v Spain (10 Oct, 1700 BST) Turkey v Armenia (14 Oct) Estonia v Belgium (14 Oct) Bosnia-Herzegovina v Spain (14 Oct) Situations: Spain have qualified after winning all eight of their matches to date. Bosnia-Herzegovina are favourites for second spot, although they will want a win in their penultimate match in Estonia as their final game is against Spain. Turkey are the only team which can profit if Bosnia-Herzegovina slip up. Group 6: Belarus v Kazakhstan (10 Oct, 1600 BST) Ukraine v England (10 Oct, 1615 BST) England v Belarus (14 Oct) Andorra v Ukraine (14 Oct) Kazakhstan v Croatia (14 Oct) England have qualified. Croatia remain in second place, two points ahead of Ukraine but with only one game remaining to Ukraine's two, albeit a winnable game away at Kazakhstan. If Ukraine can beat England at home in their next game, they will be favourites to take the runner-up spot, with their final game away to minnows Andorra Group 7: Serbia v Romania(10 Oct, 1930 BST) Austria v Lithuania (10 Oct, 1930 BST) France v Faroe Islands (10 Oct, 2000 BST) Romania v Faroe Islands (14 Oct) Lithuania v Serbia (14 Oct) France v Austria (14 Oct) Serbia's draw with France leaves the former as strong favourites to top the group, and they are guaranteed at least second place. Victory over Faroe Islands in their next game will ensure France a runner-up spot at least, but an unlikely failure to win that match could see it go down to France v Austria in the final game, the latter retaining a slim chance of second place. Group 8: Montenegro v Georgia (10 Oct, 1800 BST) Cyprus v Bulgaria (10 Oct, 1800 BST) Rep of Ireland v Italy (10 Oct, 2100 BST) Rep of Ireland v Montenegro (14 Oct) Italy v Cyprus (14 Oct) Bulgaria v Georgia (14 Oct) Italy are guaranteed at least second place and need only to draw away to the Republic of Ireland in their next game to win the group. The Republic could still win the group and look odds-on for second place, but could miss out should they take no more than a point from their two remaining games with Bulgaria winning both of theirs. Group 9: No fixtures left for Group 9. Holland have qualified already.
lildave3 Posted 7 October 2009 Posted 7 October 2009 If you are right then i'll be happy. But there is no way Bosnia will lose to Estonia. Turkey probably won't even beat Belgium <_<

There's a couple of other games happening on each day (e.g. Brazil vs Peru I think) but this doesn't affect anything
LCFC-ARAB Posted 9 October 2009 Posted 9 October 2009 Algeria v Rwanda on sunday, a win and we are all but into the World Cup. Will be watching it with my dad so he can translate the Arabic commentary for me, it is bloody confusing otherwise cause they always seem to be shouting! can't wait!
lildave3 Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Well today I watched Wales U21's, Wales, England, bits of Russia/Germany and a bit of Denmark/Sweden, then all of Ireland. Really enjoyed watching Ireland actually. WIll watch Argentina later too. Good to see Ireland have got to the playoff, not an easy group. Hope they make it. Someone who haven't made it is Turkey, as expected really. Bosnia won 2-0 against Estonia and the Turks lost 2-0 to Belgium. Bye bye Terim We now know half of the teams that will be in SA I believe.
Fox You Forest Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Looking forward to the Argentina game now, so much pressure on them. Should win comfortably tonight though.
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Very pleased for Bosnia. There was a great article on them in fourfourtwo this month. If Argentina don't win at home to Peru tonight then they are not worthy.
CosbehFox Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 No-one will want Bosnia in the play-offs. Arguably one of the most form strikeforces in the world, got nothing to lose and it would be their first appearance for a smallish and newish country.
lildave3 Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Looking forward to the Argentina game now, so much pressure on them.Should win comfortably tonight though. They really, really should. No-one will want Bosnia in the play-offs. Arguably one of the most form strikeforces in the world, got nothing to lose and it would be their first appearance for a smallish and newish country. Ibisevic and Dzeko is a quality front two, and Misimovic(?) just behind them aswell is quality. But you look at the rest of their squad and they have done really very well to get into the playoff. Turkey were very poor throughout though.

You have Egypt last game....even a win tomorrow leaves a decider.
Jordan Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 Didn't get to watch much of the European games today However, I will more than make up for that by watching the action on my side of the Atlantic this evening. Mexico-El Salvador is on TV en español in 15 minutes (6 pm here). I'll get one of the South American games on my computer at 7 pm. After that, it's Honduras vs. YOOOO ESSSS AAAYYYYY at 10... but since Honduras fvcked the USSF on TV rights, the game is only being shown on closed circuit TV at a handful of places across the country. I don't feel like going down to the city to watch the game and spend a lot of money at the bar, so I'm going to try to get that one on my PC as well. CONCACAF and CONMEBOL qualifying is madness right now. Here we go...
CosbehFox Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 In other news, New Zealand managed 0-0 against Bahrain in the play-off between Oceania and Asia. Fair to say whoever gets through will be the poorest side in the competition.
MC Prussian Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 One point away from automatic qualification for South Africa 2010. Shame the Greeks had to spoil the party which is now postponed until Wednesday evening.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 10 October 2009 Posted 10 October 2009 You have Egypt last game....even a win tomorrow leaves a decider. if we win tomorrow by just 1 goal then they will need to beat us by 3 goals in the final game, and we have only conceded 1 goal in this stage, and we're playing against Rwanda tomorrow who only have 1 point although they got that from us in the first game of the group. nervous stuff though!
