Webbo Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 I'm 57% through "the Scarecrow" by Michael Connelly. I only started it this morning. I've had to come on here to stop me finishing it today.
skinnydipper Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Got 1 of these for Xmas and I love it. Anybody else got 1? Mrs SD has ordered one for me Expecting it to arrive in a couple of weeks As I'm in need of a new gadget I'm quite looking forward to getting it
Daggers Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Still don't understand them. In an age of convergence, while gadgets are screaming out to be all things to all men, the Kindle is resolute in its singularity of use. I'm holding out for an iPad 2 with an iPhone4-like screen. I've got over one and a half thousand books waiting for it!
Zingari Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 I'm 57% through "the Scarecrow" by Michael Connelly. I only started it this morning. Webbo Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 that's quite precise There's a little thing at the bottom of the page that tells you how much you've read. All men like useless statistics.
Daggers Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 There's a little thing at the bottom of the page that tells you how much you've read. All men like useless statistics. Not all of them. ...sits back and waits for someone to post the percentage
Zingari Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 There's a little thing at the bottom of the page that tells you how much you've read. All men like useless statistics. really ? does it tell your reading speed in pages per hour , or ETA for the end of the book ?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 December 2010 Posted 28 December 2010 You can read books on an iPhone? That's that then - close the thread, I want an iPhone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O--IAEDZQQ "I can get an iPhone without giving any money to Apple. I'll be living the dream!"
Kingfisher Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 its brilliant go for it mate. Kindle on iphone, ipad or mac. Great advantages over paper books. 1. Much Cheaper . 2. Download in seconds . 3. You can carry your whole library in your pocket. 4. You can enlarge print so no need for reading glasses. 5. You can read in the dark especially on flights without having to keep every one else awake with overhead lights. 6. You can down load so many free books .
Zingari Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 bump got one a few weeks back and it took a while to get used to , but now i really would recommend them . there's loads of free books available and loads for as little as 89p . i downloaded the kindle app for my pc too and that is really good i think they have invested very heavily in something called kindle fire , but that's not available in the UK yet
The Doctor Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Meh, I still prefer the actual physical books.
AoWW Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Hmm, still undecided whether to put one of these on my Chrimbo List or not.

You can see im abit simples like!! i just got the basic one and it serves my purpose really well . all you do when you buy one direct from amazon is register it with them when it arrives. And you can buy the books and it just charges you from your account just as if you were buying a cd or dvd , but the book arrives in your kindle in a matter of seconds. the free ones are just the same , you down load them with one click http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/digital-text/341689031/ref=pd_ts_zgc_kinc_341689031_morl?pf_rd_p=260749847&pf_rd_s=right-5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=341689031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=164ZJXDP2J11XNXXE91H edit ; it really is very simple Raj or I wouldn't be able to do it

Thanks again x I'm not sure how difficult it is if you don't buy them direct from amazon ( probably not very much more ) I found it very easy because i buy and sell a lot of stuff through amazon so my account was already set up with them and adding the kindle account was very easy . presumably if you buy the kindle from tesco , you'll still have to set up an amazon account to buy the books. so i'd say you may as well order one direct from them
Webbo Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 I believe Tesco have got the new smaller version for £79.99 atm.
Raj Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 I believe Tesco have got the new smaller version for £79.99 atm. Is it just as good as the original version?
Houdini Logic Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 There's one reason I would never get a Kindle - my book collection makes me the pretentious tool I am and long may it continue and grow
Webbo Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Is it just as good as the original version? It hasn't got the keyboard which you barely use anyway and it only holds around 1500 books rather than 4000.
Fox You Forest Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Meh, I still prefer the actual physical books. How is the Biff, Chip and Kipper collection coming along?
Zingari Posted 11 November 2011 Posted 11 November 2011 Meh, I still prefer the actual physical books. i know what you mean , i like physical women
