Scow Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Despite keeping two clean sheets prior to the QPR game, I couldn't understand how Berner was dropped for McGivern. Granted, Man City probably enforced some sort of loan agreement, but replacing the Championship's best left back made no sense at all. Tonight, he showed what he was all about.

Squad ethic.... he got it bang on.... Again.
MC Prussian Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I fooking love the Swiss. Blimey. I'm a little overwhelmed.
Fosse Boy Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Crucial challenges, a wise head, and he's Swiss. Berner is awesome.
Ozwin Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 He didn't even play left back that much last season, now he's like the fans first name on the team sheet.
MC Prussian Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I'm going to have a good feeling about going to sleep tonight, with all that Swiss Love 'n all.
jonw88 Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Wonder how long before he's recalled to the Swiss national squad?
MC Prussian Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Wonder how long before he's recalled to the Swiss national squad? Would you mind give Ottmar Hitzfeld a ring this weekend to let him know that we've got Bruno FOOKIN Berner playing like a god this season?
Frenzied Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 It was Berner's reading of the game that initially set up our first goal. He left the winger knowing the space into which the the ball would be played; then set up the attack - had a great game all night.
ashwj Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 McGiven is a bit better on the ball but he made muchas mistakas against Reading. His replacement and the introduction of N'guessan were telling tonight. I'm just slightly concerned why NP didn't pick them on Monday as it seemed to me and my friends the obvious (& apparently more effective) choice.
Scow Posted 31 October 2009 Author Posted 31 October 2009 McGiven is a bit better on the ball That's probably the oddest thing I've read on here.

I had that in Hungary once, too much salt for my liking.
lcfc_jme Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Bruno Berner - as previously mentioned - is a white Swiss version of Chris Powell. That makes him almost God-like.
Koke Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Absolute baffled me why he was dropped for Reading. He returned back to his rightful position tonight - and he showed why we lurve the Swiss bloke.
MPH Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 I'm going to have a good feeling about going to sleep tonight, with all that Swiss Love 'n all. i find it all a bit cheesy ...
StanSP Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Absolute baffled me why he was dropped for Reading. He returned back to his rightful position tonight - and he showed why we lurve the Swiss bloke. Probably to be saved for last night.
lcfcadam Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Surely up there with the very best Championship players this season with the way he's playing at the moment - simply unbelievable determination to save every situation, superb awareness, and the ability to occasionally turn the screw and make great runs down the left. What a hero
lou Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Cant believe he'll not start against West Brom.... surely? McGiven is no where near as good as Berner in any way, shape or form! Thats not to say he wont be in the future but hes sure as hell not there now
dandannieldanok Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Was quality as we've come to expect, barely gave Routledge a sniff.
lou Posted 31 October 2009 Posted 31 October 2009 Was quality as we've come to expect, barely gave Routledge a sniff. Gutted I missed most of Routledges appearance on Soccer AM this morning
