davieG Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 From the Merc Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson is one of four nominees for the Coca-Cola Championship manager of the month for October. Pearson's side City shot into the play-off places thanks to three wins and two draws. The three other candidates boast identical records and they are Billy Davies of Nottingham Forest, Swansea City's Paulo Sousa and Dave Jones of Cardiff City. The winner will be announced tomorrow. For his services to sports journalism

Dr The Singh Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 ...and there was me thinking it was for Sports' Personality. I was thinking Playmate of the year!!!
StanSP Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Hopefully spur him and the team on to keep getting awards like this. I don't believe in the 'poisoned chalice' award thing these days.
Guest Bilo Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 It'll go to Billy Davies I reckon, our success has seemingly slipped under the radar. Let Florist have the poisoned chalice.
iancognito Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 The poisoned chalice thing isn't based around any sort of fact anyway. It happens a couple of times and it becomes like an urban legend where the winner of any award is suddenly struck my a mysterious curse. It's right up there with City fans burying shirts in the Ricoh Arena concrete and that time Derby got a gypsy woman in to remove the spirits that were putting a hex on the old Baseball Ground goalmouths. Give Nige the award and we'll see how much it's cursed.
Koke Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Billy Davies has a pretty good month. Forest were languishing near the bottom and they suddenly went on a winning run, 5 in 6 or summat like that.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 'Poison Chalice' The same 'Poison Chalice' that he won twice last season... remind me what we did again last season?
muffin Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Billy Davies has a pretty good month. Forest were languishing near the bottom and they suddenly went on a winning run, 5 in 6 or summat like that. Yer but Pearson could be on 4 wins in 4 games. That would surely win Pearson MOTMA.
Father Ted Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 Could be Swansea aswell. Changed their ways massively since the bad start to their season.
Jiggers the Fox Posted 6 November 2009 Posted 6 November 2009 All good candidates to be fair. But Nige has a good a chance as any of them
davieG Posted 7 November 2009 Author Posted 7 November 2009 Yer but Pearson could be on 4 wins in 4 games. That would surely win Pearson MOTMA. Isn't this for October? So that would be 3 wins & 2 draws
Ford Super Sunday Posted 7 November 2009 Posted 7 November 2009 Dave jones has won Not that I want to start a conspiracy, but the Sky employed panel gave the award to the manager of a team who are conveniently live on Sky today... Maybe it's just me
