hibeeleicester Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 Not post here for a while but would like to pass on some sad sad news. For those old enough to remember Bobby , he has been told at the age of 55 he has not got long to live from cancer. Alot of hibs fans were gutted when he signed for you.

Vacamion Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 That is sad. I remember him well. A good player. I had him in his Hibs strip in my 1st Panini album.
Wycombe Fox Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 I'm gutted by this news. After the awful couple of seasons under Dr. Doolittle I remember him as the kingpin in Jock Wallace's promotion team of 79/80 with 12 goals from midfield. I loved watching him - as tenacious as they come - and still got a programme somewhere with his autograph on it. 193 appearances and 22 goals. Best wishes to Bobby and your family.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 I met him once after a legends game get together at the old City Limits. Was very happy to chat for a couple of minutes and as an 8 year old Leicester fan which I was at the time I was awestruck. Very sad news.
jonthefox Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 i remember him well. jesus, thats really shite news.
jerakin Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Signed my program when I was 9. I still remember how happy he was to sign and his big smile. Sad news. Thanks Bobby!
Fosse Boy Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Too young to remember him, but obviously sad news.
skinnydipper Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Wasn't living near enough to go to many games when he played for us but still have good memories of his time with us 55
FoxInWales Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Sad, remember him from my early days. Good player
Guest Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 He was one of the first footballers I ever met. Sad news.
Zingari Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 sad news ; he's the man who was mainly responsible for me making the misguided decision to have a bubble perm and droopy tash
chesterfox Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 sad news ; he's the man who was mainly responsible for me making the misguided decision to have a bubble perm and droopy tash Didnt quite go that far but I loved Jock's Leicester and Bobby Smith will always be one of ours. best regards to his family
OzFox Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 That's bad news. he was a good player for us Remember him scoring a couple of fine goals in a 3-1 win at Watford....he waltzed through their defence and buried the third, perm flying in the breeze, crowd going wild....oh happy days.
NewquayFox Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Sad news indeed, always a great character and gave his all for City, looked like one of the `Three Cavaliers`with his hair and moustache. Great memories of Bobby Smith.
Rich Fox Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Really sorry to hear this news about Bobby. He was one of my favorite players when Jock Wollace was manager, we could do with a Bobby Smith in the city team now a great player.
Karljohn Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Only saw Bobby a few times as I was 8-9 at the time he was a regular. One goal I do remember is against Charlton at home to clinch a return back to the top flight....Bob smashed the ball home in front of the kop. Sad sad news, I often wonder what lads like Bobby would be like now lining up against some of the gimps and pansies of modern football! My thoughts with Bobby and his family.
Guest Posted 14 November 2009 Posted 14 November 2009 Used to work his little legs off. Thanks for the memories bobby.
carterfox90 Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 very sad news a great player for us all the best bobby to you & your family
