lou Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 It looked like he was reacting to someone who said they'd be at another game rather than Leicester's. I'm not defending your 'elitist' fans I was condemning anyone that has a go at how, when, where, why someone chooses to support LCFC. I concur... Tommeh didnt say anything "elitist" while I recognise there is that attitude from some fans but he didnt come across that way to me, just that he'd rather spend the day with his Dad at a beter game. Didnt see any need for the other guy to have a go at him for that.
Guest Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 I wasn't refering to you Lou nor Lisa or anyone else who goes to away games for a good day out or to support the team. Just the type who think they're better than the rest of us who don't go away that often. I know you weren't referring to me.
Webbo Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 I know you weren't referring to me. Glad to hear it. I know we disagree a lot but it's nothing personal.
Fosse Boy Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 Oh and Fox in Essex (I think), there's no reason why we couldn't turn the Walkers in to somewhere with a half decent atmosphere. Who cares if it looks like its been assembled like a flat pack piece of furniture (it probably was to be fair)? The away fans are right in that corner and we could easily sandwich them between K+L and N blocks if people were willing to fill those particular blocks. The problem is there just aren't enough people willing to stand up and do that at home. It's pisses me off more than anything but it's just a fact of life sadly. People would rather sit in the South Stand and pretend that they're still in the Double Decker than make the effort to congregate near the away fans because of some vague notion that because the old and new kop both face the same direction they're the same stand. Also, it's hardly a problem unique to Leicester is it?
The Doctor Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009  If I saw him, I'd be bricking it. WTF? Why waste your time building a terrorist out of lego?
Podge Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 Not an exciting draw but not too bad better then getting some league one team, i was hoping for a prem team or little team away. I really wanted Stoke away to gain a small feeling of revenge.
lcfc_jme Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 I dunno... seems to me that we seem to have a large number of 'terrace warriors' on here. Lot of people that go on and on about away days and 'terrace banter', as though it doesn't matter about the Walkers. You know, those people who parade around going, "Oh we are DEFINTELY standing up, no matter what some disabled tell us"... We must be one of the few clubs where a large majority of our fans don't give a shit about their home ground, why is this?! Surely it should be like a fortress for the club where away fans should be made to feel intimidated, etc etc. Its attitudes like this that help contribute to the lack of atmosphere at home by staying away. Since when did football become about 'a day out' too? I couldn't give a flying fook about whether I'm particularly entertained (although its always a nice bonus), I just want to see my team win. If that means against Swansea on a cold January afternoon, so be it. Hello sbfox. That comment certainly applies to me; I don't give a shit about our home ground and now rarely, if ever, go to home games. I do object to you suggesting that's why there's a lack of atmosphere, though. I tried, and tried, and tried some more to help with the atmosphere at our home games. You know where that got me? My season ticket taken off of me and a banning order from the ground. I would suggest that the club's marketing and stewarding policies, as well as our fans' general apathy towards actually getting behind the team at home are the problem rather than fans "not giving a shit about the home ground". I'm sure if the club actually valued fans who try to create an atmosphere instead of shafting them every which way possible, they would be more inclined to attend home games than stay away.. Maybe that's too rational an assessment, though? Yours, Terrace Warrior #218

The club maybe a complete joke as far as the stand behaviour stuff goes but i doubt they'll have done this for simple atmosphere encourgement (e.g. getting groups of people together in different sections of the ground and working alongside them to raise the atomsphere where they sit and hoping that then snowballs through the ground etc.)

Maybe that's too rational an assessment, though? Yours, Terrace Warrior #218 On the bright side mate, it's another trip to the Walkers for Dorus! Won't be going to this one. In response to sbfox, there's very few grounds left that are intimidating today. Largely thanks to the authorities and jobsworth stewards making treating us like schookids. Us being there means they have to work. The life and soul is being took out of football and it's turning away supporters who like to help create a decent atmosphere. Hardly anyone tried to create an atmosphere yesterday, and that was because they were all sat on their arses drinking Bovril. The only time we made a decent noise, was before the game when the song that we sing about Fryatt came on.
lou Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 No one was sat down on the left hand side and we sung all game? Thought that was the case all over but obviously not.
Bert Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 No one was sat down on the left hand side and we sung all game? Thought that was the case all over but obviously not. If you did, I didn't hear it! Had some right misery guts near us.
lou Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 If you did, I didn't hear it! Had some right misery guts near us. I did honest! Fair few singing near us but we were right near the end of the stand. I kept grabbing the knee of the bloke behind me instead of the back of the seat too.... made his day anyway

Got ejected for standing on the back row of the stand when everybody else was stood infront of me. T'was me and a lad a year younger than myself. Funny how it wasn't a mid-late twenties/early thirties bloke, eh?? On the bright side mate, it's another trip to the Walkers for Dorus! I love the entire breed of de Vries players. Hero!!

Ultra Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 The draw might have been worse. We could've had Swansea away. That would have been a real anti-climax, given the league game there is only two weeks later. Only the true hardcore will want to make THREE trips to South Wales in as many weeks, so let's hope the tie is settled at the first attempt.
StanSP Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 Not bad. Could have been worse. Put it this way, we've proved we can beat them already this season, and we're a bit better than when we played them in August, so hopefully we should win. But football doesn't work like that .

Ultra Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 Obviously promotion is the priority this season, but I'd still like a cup run as well to boost the coffers. Put it lkike this, I'd be slightly miffed if Swansea knocked us out. I'd prefer us to test ourselves against a top-half Premier side.
StanSP Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 So are they. Should make for an interesting game then. We're more better . Any idea when the TV matches are going to be selected?
Bugg Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 Should make for an interesting game then. We're more better .Any idea when the TV matches are going to be selected? Man U vs Kettering/Leeds is obviously going to be one and i can imagine Chelski and other prem teams getting the TV rights over championship teams.
ozleicester Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 BAH!! Unless you've travelled 12,000 miles to see a game at the Walkers....You are ALL fairweather fans! Seriously people... we need all kinds of fans, whether they go once a year for glamour ties or every week, they all put money into the club which will hopefully go towards building a side ready to challenge the Premier league. cmonnnn yoo bloooooooooosssssssssssssss

I'm guessing some old guy complained because when you stood up you spilt a drop of his bovril.
davieG Posted 30 November 2009 Posted 30 November 2009 now that is ridiculous. I'm guessing some old guy complained because when you stood up you spilt a drop of his bovril. Let me explain: Jamie and some others on here met club officials to set up a singing section in the North Stand next to the awayers. The 1st game went well but the thinking is that the club regretted the decision so when the next game came along the stewards and set out to cause trouble and proceeded to disrupt the whole set up. They seemed hell bent on making it fail and targeted Jamie, as the 'leader' by actively going for him amongst a whole swathe of people standing up and ejected him from the ground and later banning him. Subsequently the whole North Stand singing project failed and the club got their way by appearing to work with the fans only to renege on it so that they can maintain their music controlled monkey like support. No one complained, just like with most ejections for standing.
