Ermm is it just me that thought the thing with the dogs following her eyes to find the treats under the plastic bowls is more a case of the dogs can SMELL the treats?! :frusty:

This Collie is fecking amazing though!

:giggle:

I think some of it is just bullshit, common-sense stuff, but because they are doing the correct things for their tests it must be down to the moving eyes

(Someones gone to uni to come out with that conclusion :S)

But I do think Dogs are very clever, I myself can understand my Dog, and he understands me - He can sense stuff like he just goes quiet and its hard to explain, but he just acts different when i'm going on holiday before I even get a case out or a week or so before i'm even going away, i'm sure its cos' he can 'sense' it lol.

Dogs really are amazing

Oh definately! Ours always seems to know when were going away too. Though she can be incredibly stupid in some ways too, launching hersef at the TV whenever an animal appears is a particularly annoying habit

at least she doesnt appear on this list.....

Ive trained mine to bite runners...;) nah its the one thing mine doesnt bother with to be honest.

Ours runs up behind them, darts around the front and stops, sending them flying.

Without fail, I find it funny every single time.

Teach them to be in our park.

I loved it when they did that when I was wearing six 15mm long spikes on the bottom of each shoe - it's like picking up litter with a spiked pole

Black and white cocker spaniel puppy. For a cute soft fuzzy little thing, she's a fucking mentalist!

I have one too and she is also mad lol, but cute with it

We are babysitting a boxer for the sister-in-law. I don't know much about dogs, but I guess on a forum this large there are a few dog-owners.

Therefore, in the light of us getting one sometime in the future (lady states repeatedky she wants one in the future, but not untill we move out of the city), what is your dog, and what is so great about that race?

If I could choose I would like a Rottweiler, I think they look great, but I hear they are quite stubborn and not easy to handle.

People who dislike dogs are of course also free to speak their will.

I have a rottie mate and she will be 13 this year, best dog we have ever had, soft as shit and good as gold

it will break my heart when shes gone, all this talk about them is rubbish its how you train them

Have just had to put down our 13 year old jack russell :(

We got him as a 6 week old and my daughter was 8 years old, they grew up together and he was her "brother". As with all JR's he was a litttle stupid, a lot needy and incredibly protective. every night he slept on her bed, every day they walked together. she took him for walks in her pram, he would meet her on the way home from school.

She was an animal resuce person as she grew up, so we had sick, injured and dying creatures of all kinds in the house and he never harmed a single one of them, he had kittens trying to suckle from him, rats playing with him, baby guinea pigs climbing on him and even possum joey's sleeping on him. Never once did he threaten or harm them.

Sadly, last month, his time came and we made a decision that caused more anguish than you can imagine (we could have kept him going for maybe a month or 2 more, but... is that in his best interest or ours?), we took him to the vet and my daughter knelt and stroked his head as he left us.

:unsure::cry:

That is truly crap, sorry to hear that - I have a lurcher that isn't long for this world and it will break my heart when it goes.

However, I was really enjoying this thread, the first three pages had me laughing my head off until this post which took my laughter away like a cold cup of sick.

Could we have a separate 'dead dog thread' to 'run along side' / or not - or is that inappropriate on a variety of levels?

here's my dog , unfortunately he died last easter ,he'd suffered a lot so i suppose it was a blessing in the end

That's excellent, now we need a dead dog / god thread to 'not run along side' this one.

We could have a Dog Deathlist 2010.

Any member that owns a dog puts their name on a list and then we have to pick five dogs who are going to the kennel in the sky in 2010. Don't forget to put their ages so that we can have a 'Bonus Death Under 5' or something like that.

Just watching a programme on BBC1 about Dogs and how they communicate with Humans, Quite interesting so far.

I did laugh when that daft Siberian woman was demonstrating how aggressive some of the snow foxes were by sticking her finger in their cages, then surprisingly got bitten. I'd take the scientific claims of someone that dozy with a pinch of salt

Ours had her fur trimmed on Saturday, so naturally I've spent the weekend pissing myself with laughter whenever I've seen her since. She looks like a bit of a nutcase with short hair which really doesn't suit her.

My dog is a spag. Everytime the washing machine makes a noise he gets terrified and has to find a corner to lie in. Sometimes he comes up in my room and sits in the corner trying to dig up my floor. Then Friday night he got in the tiniest corner possible, got in a basket that we use to keep logs in for the fire and got stuck. Idiot.

Oh, and he's fat.
