Nigel Pearson says transfer window could stay shut at Leicester City

NP has always said he won't buy for the sake of it. As has been said, I don't think there's a lot out there at the moment, we can always recall the loanees should we get mega desperate. I'm not saying we don't need anybody but if NP isn't going to bring anyone else in then there's not a lot we can do about it.

There will not be a lot of transfer activity at Leicester City this month, manager Nigel Pearson has said.

Ever since the January transfer window opened, speculation has linked City with several potential targets, while other clubs have also been linked with moves for some of City's stars.

Pearson has already secured the services of striker Martyn Waghorn and defender Ryan McGivern on loan until the end of the season, while DJ Campbell and Max Gradel have been allowed to remain with Derby and Leeds on short-term loans.

However, Pearson said he does not expect there to be much more transfer movement this month.

"I know there is speculation but I don't get involved in speculation," he said.

"What you have to ask yourself is where are the stories generated? Until there is something to share with people I don't get involved in the speculation.

"There has been talk about some of our players but, at this moment in time, there is nothing to report. Ryan has done very well for us so I am pleased to get that agreed with Manchester City.

"Paul Dickov has been fine since he came back from his loan spell at Derby and again we will see how his situation develops over the next few weeks. But I don't expect to be doing a lot of business."

One of the reasons Pearson will not making too many additions this month is because he is happy with his current squad, who are nicely positioned at the halfway stage of the season in fifth place on 38 points, with a game in hand on the other sides in the play-off places.

Pearson believes City deserve their lofty position but is expecting a very busy and difficult second half of the campaign.

"We are halfway through the season now, 23 games in, and I think we are where we are on merit," he said.

"We have competed pretty well and we have scrapped well from time to time. We have also played very well on a number of occasions.

"I have said from the very start of the season that this league is very difficult to be consistent in.

"It is competitive and there are a lot of clubs that would probably think they have a chance of being involved in the promotion shake-up, and that in itself sets it up to be a fascinating league.

"You don't always get the quality week in, week out that you would like, but every game is a challenge. We are going to be very busy, as most clubs will be, in late January, February and early March.

"Most clubs will find themselves in a similar situation and you have to get on with it.''

Leicester City's Championship match away to Doncaster has been re-arranged for Tuesday, February 23.

The match, originally scheduled for December 28, was called off because of bad weather and rearranged for Tuesday, January 19, depending on Rovers' FA Cup third-round tie against Brentford. However, that game also fell victim to the weather.

Translation:

I think Milan made a mistake by making that statement as it will probably talk the price up a bit of players im interested in. I wonder what i can say to get the price back down....

I'm in the group that believes promotion would be too soon, but if we do go up, we've got to try and make the most of it, and enjoy it if we can.

***NEWSFLASH***

The club has no money!

The club "may" buy players in the window, but they need to move DJ & or Dickov first!

Mandaric is not piling Millions into the club, especially for transfers!

Mandaric will sell the club "if" we get into the Prem, at the earliest opportunity

Mandaric is a businessman, not a Leicester fan!

He is probably covering losses on wages but that will be about it.

My take is this.

MM did the press release stating we wont see first teamers sold and will support NP if the right player is found. This translates to we not going to sell fryatt.

Pearson (probably MM told him to) then does a press release saying he is not interested in buying this window so as such conveniantly for MM there is no need to back him.

crystal palace and portsmouth both full teams are for sale.

Would these improve the LCFC side?

Would they be interested?

How much would they cost?

Are they realistic?

Really? It's been reported that Portsmouth can't buy or sell until the transfer embargo is lifted.

The Portsmouth players are on too high wages for MM to consider (unless he can come up with a nifty deal involving his mate down there).

An interesting concept, would uncle Milan actually be interested in losing money owed to him for the sake of our club? How selfless!

I was thinking more on the lines of off-shore payments, obviously with no tax implications. I'd hope Milan hasn't got any interests left in Portsmouth as that would be a conflict of interests and also not allowed by the FA.

Would you be suprised?

Personally i would be disappointed if we don't get any real quality players on board during the transfer window, as i think we are 2-3 players short if we are to push and/or maintain our position.Whether this is possible? who knows, dont know a thing about what state the club is in financially and whether funds are available to pearson

I didnt expect us to be in this position at this stage of the season, and i think some of the teams below us will start climbing the table, which is why we cant let it slip

we have done fantastic thus far, but its easy for us to slip into mid-table mediocre position

I'd hate to look back next season and think we didnt have a real go at it and take a risk with a couple of signings.

this is just a personal opinion, but if wigan did offer 5 mill for fryatt, which i doubt, but if they did, i would have sold, and gone for a couple of decent loan signings, i hear leeds are after marlon harewood if beckford goes, he wouldnt be a bad shout

a premier striker on loan to see us through, with a decent attacking midfielder

we need a "danger-man" in the middle, a player when he gets the ball, you expect something to happen.

Either way, whatever happens, we have done brilliantly so far, so mustn't grumble too much on reflection

Mark Davies ain't gettin a game at Bolton, lol. All jokes aside we do need another option for opening teams up because when we come across sides who play for a draw, we seem to struggle to break them down.

Can't say i agree with the Fryatt thing, over the years, how many teams have benefitted from selling their top goalscorer/striker... Look what happened to us when Heskey went. I definitely think we need another ball-winner to cover that defence, and another winger because Dany N'Guessan seems to be suffering from Mid Season Lloyd Dyer syndrome.

He might now that they have a manager who uses the lovingly prepared grass to play on, rather than the smoggy skies of Bolton.

I'd imagine that one or two may prefer being paid less per month to not receiving their higher salary at all...and if they stay they'll be taking a 25% anyway hit as soon as the team goes down.

i heard just buying players, also they'll have to sell players for offers the FA/Administrators/whoever controls finances during this period, considers reasonable so as to cover the debts to creditors.

Think you've heard wrong, the transfer ban on them is both in and out, this is half the reason they are totally knackered, they can apply to the premier league to be allowd to sell players but they may not get the go ahead.
