What so when a Frenchman violently headbutts an Italian that's fine but a passionately reckless challenge from someone whose team is a bit lower in the Fifa Rankings makes them unworthy of their place?

We see shit teams kicking lumps out of good teams all the time, it's not unique to international minnows. Hello, Shawcross on Ramsey?

( lol Radio Scotland going nuts.)

Anyway, onto England.

Pleased with what I saw tonight, we controlled pretty much the whole of the game, and I expected the Swiss to be a lot better than that. We've looked dare i say it a much better team without Lampard, and Gerrard being able to play in the middle. Pleased that Darren Bent finally has an International goal, fairly decent finish from the lad too. Ashley Cole continues to be so consistent with yet another solid performance.

Plenty of positives to be taken from tonight with few negative.

Liechtenstein and the likes have one game plan and that is to kick the fvck out of the opposition until they submit. That's not passion it's cynical and dangerous.

Every other team seems to cope fine with them and just get on with the job and thrash them. If you want to point the finger of blame, point it at the officials. If they started dishing out red cards these minnows would soon stop this supposed dangerous game.

The good thing about Lithuania's win and Scotland subsequently topping the group is that this abysmal result and performance will be brushed under the carpet now and Scotland's deep problems will not be confronted.

Couldnt agree more.

The Liechtenstein players must be fairly gutted by now.

On track of beating Scotland, one of the motherlands of football, away and then conceding a 2-1 in injury time...

7 minutes of extra time when there were only five in total signalled for?

Or even 7 minutes of extra time when there was a minimum of five signalled for...

It makes no difference what happened elsewhere, Scotland are piss-poor and are going to get nothing from this group. Nearly as poor as Wales.

Yeah except we hammed the Scots this year and weren't playing Lichtenstein at home.

We're poor, they're fucking terrible.

Bent's the best of an average bunch of England strikers other than Rooney and Defoe to choose from. Nice to see him score I'll admit but he's not international quality, nor ever will be.

Pretty pleased with what I saw tonight, although I always find it difficult to concentrate in the pub if I'm honest. Adam Johnson yet again showed why he should be starting ahead of Walcott on that left hand side. Of course not everything he tries comes off, but he makes things happen and it's no fluke he has two goals in as many games.

We created chances which is always decent. On another day Defoe could have had a couple but finishing was a little wayward. Excellent movement throughout though, the chemistry between him and Rooney is something I didn't think I'd see for England.

As easy as it is to laugh at Scotland for being such utter crap, every England fan should look at them as a cautionary tale of what happens when the best players from the host nation can't get into the best sides. Up to the mid 90s, Scotland were frequently able to compete with England as equals but have gone backwards badly ever since. No coincidence that the number of Scottish players in the Cetlic and Rangers sides have decreased over the same time period.

But Scotland are shite, no denying that. I genuinely can't see them qualifying for Euro 2012. There's too much quality in that group for them to handle.

Yea, but it's funny how that rule always comes to bite the smaller opposition and never the bigger opposition.

Yea but when it comes to actual competitive games, Scotland have the slight edge on results picked up over the last few years. Both are shocking, something fundamentally wrong with both.

I have to say that as an England fan, being in the same group as Wales makes me sweat a lot more than being in the same group as that Scotland side. At least you have some genuine talent, they've got a 40 year old in defence and a player who can't score in the Championship up front.

So that's why Andorra, San Marino, Luxembourg or Malta lose 3-0 or 4-0 on a more or less regular basis?

I never said that they were successful, just that it was their game plan. I'm not excusing Scotland (why would I?) but it's absolutely hideous. Cheating.

Fair point about the officials from dandannieldanok, although I can't see them ever changing.

What I mean is there aren't many good Scottish players in the Celtic and Rangers sides, most of their teams are foreign. If English football goes the same way with hardly any English players in the top five or six for example, the English team will go the same way as Scotland.

I don't know what the Scots are going to expect with Levein in charge.

Never thought I'd say this but out of the home nations Northern Ireland are better than Wales and Scotland, with Scotland finishing bottom.

What are you talking about? 9 of the starting 11 either play for the one of the Old Firm or used to. the 10th is Darren Fletcher!

Celtic's Starting XI v Motherwell (Last Game)

26 Forster (English)

03 Izaguirre (Honduran)

05 Majstorovic (Swedish)

11 Cha Du-Ri (South Korean)

22 Loovens (Dutch)

08 Brown (SCOTTISH)

16 Ledley (Welsh)

27 Murphy (Irish)

49 Forrest (SCOTTISH)

09 Samaras (Greek)

13 Maloney (Irish)

Substitutes

24 Zaluska (Polish)

04 Juarez (Mexican)

06 Hooiveld (Dutch)

31 Towell (SCOTTISH)

18 Ki Sung-Yeung (South Korean)

20 McCourt (Northern Ireland)

33 Baram Kayal (Israeli)

So out of 18 players, Celtic picked 3 Scots. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Scottish talent from the SPL favourites.

I think Rangers have a greater claim to that tag right now. And they picked SIX Scottish-born players in the starting eleven for their last league game, with another five on the bench.

Gutted for Lichenstein. Probably the biggest night in some of their lives. Didn't one of their best players used to be a reserve at Darlington? lol

You mean Mario Frick? The guy who played in Serie A for a number of years? (more than any Welshman has managed to do for a while...)

Yeah. Arezzo, Verona, Terrana and Sienna. What a host of fabulous clubs. Nobody in the current Wales squad can top that.

Oh except Craig Bellamy of Man City and Liverpool. Oh, and Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal. And Bale of Tottenham, Ricketts of Bolton, Collins of Villa - the list goes on.

You prize plank.

I can take banter about how shit we are, I'm a pro, I've been doing it for well over a decade - but at least make it vaguely accurate or intelligent you braindead troll Your Lordship Braindead Troll.

Edit: Formalities and all that.

The guy that played for Darlington was Franz Burgmeier. Think he played almost every game for them the season he was there.

last night was an embarrassment. Never have I felt so terrible after a win.

Liechtenstein were a bunch of cheats though. Particularly that David Hasler, Stomped on Huttons leg and so close to breaking it, you saw the leg flex the wrong way. Yet he gets away with just a free kick while McGregor gets booked for remonstrating with the ref over how it should have been a red card (and so it should). Their number 23 should have walked - had a right go at hutton over a tackle that won hutton a free kick - got booked for it. half a minute later he takes hutton out and gets away with just a free kick while hutton has reached his boiling point and gives him an earful - and gets booked for that.

Still thanks be to McManus for digging us out - although he put us in that position by not trying to close down Frick, allowing him to turn and pick his place.

Cool bro

Scotland are hilarious! They need 7 mins of extra time to win haha.

How many mins added on?! Jammy bastards.

just spotted these about the extra extra time - didn't notice their couple of subs attempting to wind down the clock or the hutton - No 23 handbags then - that took up almost 2 minutes of stoppage time.
