Just got back to Colchester after one of the most epic away days/weekends I've ever been lucky enough to have experienced. Absolutely worth every mile I travelled and every penny I spent. Special mentions to everyone in flare block, especially the geezer in front of me who bummed the fuck out of Wallace & Gromit.

Not gonna lie, I've looked more glmorous in my time. lol

Pity they didn't take one while I had my top off...

That picture just misses me off next to LD3. Fuming.

Had a fantastic weekend, from start to finish. To say it was eventful from start to finish was something else, starting with the "under 16's" on the train.

Had a good giggle with everyone, and the game was pretty good, and we were pretty decent I think, More of the same please lads!

Chris Weale looked pissin magnificent on the highlights, he deserved a clean sheet but never mind. After one of his saves I was dancin round the room singin Englands Number 1. Loved the goals, Danys finish was sweeeet, he put it right in the corner and the only place where their keeper stood no chance. Was great to see his face on tele, he fookin loved it ! And Lloyd Dyers burst of pace  Well done to all the lads in the last couple of games, they've been excellent.

Wish I was there, it sounded like entertainment :D

Oh yeah, how come Nigel didn't do the interview after? Walsh had to do it, he looked like he's not used to talking to the camera!

I was quite pleased to see Verma on the bench, I watched him a few times for Crewe and he looked good in spells. I think it was the first game of the season he had a great game (on highlights at least), showed some skills and I think he hit the bar from a free kick. Not sure how he got on overall at Crewe but the bits I saw of him he looked pretty useful.

I'm sure it was you who pushed me over the row after the first goal. <_<

Oh yes it was me, absolutely.

My right leg is phucked now partly that goal, partly walking through every street in the town trying to find the North station after abandoning maybes and the lads in yates at 9ish. Some weapon sent me directions to the south one!

There were a bunch of chossholes hanging around outside Yates' telling us to "fuck off back to Leicester" when we were walking back to North. So I put on a cockney accent and told them I was from Colchester. lol

Was away at the family home over the weekend, no Sky, no internet, just the results on 5 Live.

From the comments on here it looked like we continued with the 4-3-3/4-5-1 setup, that's good to see as it definitely is the best option for the players we have. It's a very flexible option and suits our midfield down to the ground, I've been saying this for months and we really need to give it a good long run.

Again from the comments on the forum (and elsewhere) it looks like Gallagher had a decent game, did he do his bit defensively?, its important that he does. The only downside seems to be that we let Fryatt get a bit isolated, again it's essential that the wide men get up and give him support in the box but since the goals came from them, they must have been doing a decent job.

All in all sounds like a good performance, away from home against a strong side, peeved that I missed it!

In this new formation the 2 players that are absolutely key to this is N'Guessan and Gallagher. Fryatt is an enigma of a striker who will get at least one chance a game and we've seen him play alongside countless strikers and it's hard to call who his best aprtner is or has ever been. With Fryatt, you always need to give him the ball at the right times in games.

Gallagher is technically our most gifted player, his attention for passing and his movement is as good as any player we've had for quite some time and in an attacking midfield role, he can dictate play. N'Guessan will hurt teams with his attributes and that is what we've been crying out for. Waghorn isn't in the best of form right now and I hope he'll regain it, but he's still a threat with his non-stop style of play. Both he and Fryatt desperately need a goal each.

That then leaves 2 positions for Oakley, King and Wellens. On form alone it's the former two for me, but Wellens is quality at times and it's down to him to fight for his place back. He should be up for it on Tuesday against his former club.

A FURIOUS Ian Holloway has axed three players from his squad after a breach of club discipline.

Neal Eardley, Barry Bannan and Ishmel Demontagnac were spotted out drinking just hours after Saturday's home defeat to Leicester City.

The squad were due to train on Sunday morning and all three have been dropped from the squad to face Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

Holloway will hold face-to-face talks with the trio today before deciding on what further action is to be taken.

"The three of them went out dancing on Saturday night, which I aint happy with," Holloway told the Gazette.

"Those three won't be in the squad on Tuesday.

"You can't hide a thing in Blackpool and I'm very very disapointed in them.

"Ive dropped them from squad the squad as I want to send out a message that I won't have that."

Whilst Gallagher's role is clearly the creative one he must continue to do his work defensively, just as Oakley and King (or Wellens) have to continue to work box to box. It is this flexibility that makes the system work and makes it difficult for the opposition to shut us down in midfield.

Both wide men are critical, they need to provide the width defensively and do enough in wide positions going forward to keep the fullbacks honest, but their main role is to support Fryatt down the middle. The highlights suggested they did that but others on this thread have commented that Fryatt was a bit isolated...... :dunno:

Still, looking forward to Tuesday, more of the same please - unchanged if everyone is fit!

At last we seem to be using a system which suits our players and which, at the same time, adds proper pace and firepower to our attack. I'm much relieved and encouraged especially by the number of chances we created compared to the disgraceful offering at Barnsley.

And once again, N'Guessan showed that, far from being a genuuine winger, he'sat he's one of our most dangerous forward when he's in and around the box.

Mind you, quite how we escaped conceding a penalty I don't know. Forget the inconclusive drama of the last minutes, Brown almost throttled a Blackpool attacker when he tried to break through along our goalline.

Was that Brown's 'tackle' on Dobbie when he had a fairly tame shot at the near post saved by Weale? I thought that was a nailed on pen, couldn't believe it wasn't given! Can only assume that the ref didn't give it as Dobbie got away and had a shot?

That's the one. Your explanation may be right but I'd never understand how any referee would see an acute angled shot towards the goalkeeper waiting at the near post as an advantage that would be prefered to a penalty. Wouldn't have mattered, mind. Weale would have saved it anyway on Saturday's form.:D

League Admit Adam Penalty Mistake

After several Blackpool fans emailed the Football League after referee Andy Haines failed to award the Seasiders a penalty in the closing seconds of Saturday's defeat against Leicester, the authority have responded by admitting that the official made a mistake.

The Football League statement reads:

'Having reviewed the incident in question, our head of referees (Dave Allison) acknowledges that a penalty should have been awarded in this instance.

'This is supported by the match assessor who was in attendance and it will be reflected in his report.'

As The Gazette state though, the admission will only add to the frustration for Blackpool - the penalty may well have seen them scrape a draw, whilst Adam's subsequent booking for diving meant that he got a two game ban and missed last night's trip to Sheffield Wednesday and will miss Saturday's game against Preston.

What a damn shame. I feel so regretful that the opposition were victims of a bad decision. If only that'd happen to us once in a while, just to balance things out a bit...

P.S. it wasn't even a 'mistake' - not awarding the penalty was the correct decision.

Wonder what the match assessor made of the Carroll handball in the Newcastle game then or the Stock/Fryatt penalty incident last night... maybe we should cry to the F.L as well... <_<
