City v Forest Match DVD

lol

oh dear. I'm cringing and I don't support Leicester!

Cringing is one of the side effects of getting soundly beaten the previous Saturday ;-)

It's a bit embarassing but fook it, you know some people will buy it so why not?

As cringe-worthy as it is, how many of those criticising this would have Sky+ed it, had it been on TV? Or videoed TV games on their old VHS systems, back in the day, then never bother to tape over it?

Ever so slightly embarrassing, not as if we've just beaten Man United in the cup by the same score. It's just a good win against promotion rivals in the second tier. Fair enough, give the game some prominence on the end of season DVD but a commemorative one for the game alone? Makes us look just a little bit tinpot don't you think?

The club obviously feel there will be a demand for it, possibly from fans who, for what reason, couldn't attend the game so this is the next best thing.

I agree though, it wasn't a classic.

Tinpot could probably be applied to almost all 'extras' to the actual game - most everything in the shop, music, our team announcements etc.

I'll get embarrassed when they start sponsoring goals, corners, substitutes etc now that really is tinpot.

It's not the merchandising, it just makes it look as though the game was some kind of a cup final or unforgettable spectacle of brilliance. When it was neither in all reality.

The merchandising I don't have a problem with, all of the stuff in the club shop has equivalent items in any other club shop from Manchester United to Darlington. I agree with sponsorship of goals and corners etc being pathetic though.

Now that, I agree with. I couldn't believe it when "Corner, sponsored by ..." appeared on the video screen at Cov! Plus they announced the winner of some lottery draw over the tannoy whilst the game was being played!

Reminds me on FIFA when tannoy announcements are made that the Club Secretary has left the building, or a congratulations is made on someone getting married lol

Funny how quick people are to scoff at opportunistic money-making plans from the club - just how exactly do you expect them to cover the vast financial demands of competing in professional football?

If I was chairman of a football club, I'd be taking advantage of any opportunity possible (that didn't impact negatively on the team or fans), and you'd have to be stupid not to.

If the club have figured out that they can shift 5000 of these or something and make like £45000 extra profit (I have no idea on the figures, they're just guesses) then they'd surely have to be a bit thick not to do it?

you are a bit of a tool , are you not?

thats the point right there. this is cringeworthy decision making in full flow... it was hardly a big achievement... its not like we won a cup or secured promotion or anything like that... it felects badly on us as a club we would try and exploit such a poor game because we got 3 late goals... there is nothing season-defining about this game at all..

I'm absolutely very quick and willing to scoff at opportunistic money making plans that are so dell-boy type stuff.

Well they have lost the last 4 away games in a row...have been pretty consistent at home... but it would be nice!!!

So tell me, other than a few extremely idealistic, egotistical, self-righteous, rather irritating fan-forum contributors who are currently holed up in bed suffering from a bout of cringing, not wanting to expose themselves to the embarrassment of being seen as supporters of a club who have released a DVD copy of one of their football matches, who exactly does such a decision affect negatively?

BTW: How many posts does one have to write on here before they're regarded as anything other than a 14 year-old idiot or WUM? I'm not sure certain members are aware that their way of putting things is seriously embarrassingly arrogant and self-assured (considering the context, a fans forum where supporters are supposed to give opinions about their football team).

Here, example, I don't really see what part of my original post constitutes me being "a bit of a tool" - simply it shows that we have different views considering the finance of a football club.

If you really want me to be a "bit of a tool" that's fine: "fuck off you pathetic twat" should suffice?

nice try. But try harder.

you seem to be the one who is hung up on post counts not me - if you hang around you'll soon discover i'll tell it how it is to anyone regardless of post counts or wether they are mods/ admins.

if you are a tool you are a tool, regardless of your status here.

No you see my problem isn't you in particular, it's the general attitude towards contributors who aren't in the little club of 'untouchables', who post like they've earnt some 'right' to shoot down everything that newer contributors make.

A 'tool' is someone who genuinely suggests that Pearson should sacked if lose 5-1 and 3-1 sequentially.

In my own opinion, people who moan about the Walkers and hark on endlessly about what a shame it is that we're not still playing at Filbert Street are 'tools', but I wouldn't generally start my replying post with it considering it's not exactly a cut-and-dry subject...

I've got this Image of Milan 'Del Boy' Mandaric scuttling from his merc into the office clutching a massive suitcase filled with these DVD's. :D

No income tax, no VAT

No money back, no guarantee

Black or white, rich or poor

They'd be 20 quid if we'd scored fooouuurr

That's the point though, it's not just one of our matches that they're releasing. It was a league game in which we beat our local rivals 3-0. That would be fine and dandy if all of our league games were released on DVD, there's consistency in that approach. However, the club are selling the DVD as some kind of massive achievement (like releasing a DVD of a Cup final/defining match in a club's history), which it isn't. Yes, we all love to beat the red scum, but in releasing this DVD it gives credence to the theory that F*rest fans hold about us that we're all petty ****** who are obsessed with them, which we're not.

Calling you a tool was a little harsh and uncalled for though in my opinion.

I think most fans would like to see the Walkers Stadium resemble Filbert St more, in terms of atmosphere, rather than still be there.

But really, is it that detrimental to fans if, for a few days or weeks, Forest fans are giving some stick because we've released a DVD of the match?

And let's face it, this DVD is going to shift more copies than 0-0 against Doncaster would have (making it financially an understandable decision).

Had it been my decision to make? Well I probably would've said yes but then I'm a massive sucker for City on/in any type of media. I'd probably pay a tenner for a DVD copy of any victory that I'd attended in person...

Fair enough, it's just I can't see the point of moaning constantly about the stadium you're playing in when it clear it's not going to change. Surely "making the best of it" would be the best tactic, as the people at the top of the Kop, L and K occasionally manage to do.

The club have been considering this for a while, and decided this was the best game to test the water on.

If we'd lost 6-0 the game would still have been sold on DVD.

Really? Well that's defo enough to tell to any pisstaking Forest fans...

It's alright - I've just seen the mock-up of the cover and it has a young lad holding a flare.

It's now cool enough for you all to like it.
