Porky Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 Personally, gives me goosebumps every time I watch the video. I still remember everything about that day; A bright sunny May day, and me left with no finger nails left by the end. I was only ten at the time, but it's a moment I'll never forget.
ramboacdc Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 ive got that on dvd somewhere. was looking for it the other day and couldnt find it for the life of me.
Uncle Monty Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Quality moment. But kinell 1 mill for Claridge? What would that be in todays money?
MikeyT Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Absolutely brilliant. Gets the emotions going seeing that.
Unit Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Quality moment. But kinell 1 mill for Claridge? What would that be in todays money? A much better buy than £2million for DJ
wakeyfox01 Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 A much better buy than £2million for DJ Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up everytime I see it! Love the Walshy O'neill love in as well, always wondered what he was saying.
DanTheFox07 Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 I was there!!! still got my ticket burried away somewhere, amazing day that!
Jimbo Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 I was there!!! still got my ticket burried away somewhere, amazing day that! Still got my ticket, in between the pages of my programme, in a box under my bed!!
Spencer Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Quality moment. But kinell 1 mill for Claridge? What would that be in todays money? £1,000,000.00 in 1996 is equivalent to £1,257,334.65 in 2010 In other words, £1,000,000.00 today can buy the same as £792,109.34 could in 1996 (Assuming a yearly inflation rate of 2% from 2006 onwards) According to some website on google anyhoo
Aeropars Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 The best part about that clip was Alan Parry not registering correctly that Claridge took a shot. "Claridge... could win it for leicester her (looks down at notes)....... IT IIIISSSSS" Class
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 The best part about that clip was Alan Parry not registering correctly that Claridge took a shot. "Claridge... could win it for leicester her (looks down at notes)....... IT IIIISSSSS" Class Er does he say that? Prettys sure its: "That could be a winner from Claridge......It is!!!!"
Hugo Sanchez Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Well ... but ... That could be the winner from Claridge......It is!!!!"
cambridgefox Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 And that is why,i posted in Statue"Steve Claridge, hitting the ball with his shin"Name one player who can shin a ball better.Being from Cambridge,he is a legend there too, and would run, albeit slowly, for every lost cause, and for 90mins.Although my statue comment was tongue in cheek, that man gave us some wonderful years in the prem.all bow down to super stevie claridge! who would love to see anyone of our players do that exact same thing, against florist in the dying seconds.i would laugh till i wet myself(again)
Aeropars Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Er does he say that? Prettys sure its: "That could be a winner from Claridge......It is!!!!" OK, point taken but i was referring to the almost disbeleif that a shot was coming in. His hesitence just makes me chuckle.
muzzyisalegend Posted 8 May 2010 Posted 8 May 2010 Apart from the birth of my two daughters, this was the happiest day of my life!!! Goosebumps every time I think about it! I was there too, and I'm pretty sure it was the first time I saw my dad, who was with me, cry. I only saw the ball between Claridge's shin and the goal 'cos I was looking down the touchline at the Kalac substitution. It seemed as though most of us were doing just that as there seemed a second's delay to the celebrations as we all realised the ball really had just flew past the 'keeper. I still love to this day how Nigel Martyn didn't move a muscle.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 8 May 2010 Posted 8 May 2010 That commentary, as legendary as it is, is a brilliant example of how good Parry is, and his improv. At the start, he is clearly talking about Kalac... 'well, that could be..... ' obviously probably going onto say something about how the substitution could change the game. As he sees Claridge have a whack 'he winner from claridge' the way he says that line is quite downbeat, he's obviously not expecting anything. IT IS The rest is history Too much analysis sorry

IT IS The rest is history Too much analysis sorry It's why I find it hard to accept criticism of Parry when we've had a match on Sky, he was involved in commentating on all of our big games in the 90s, and ITV Sport were seriously weakened for having lost him, I'll be saddened if he isn't doing the final if we get there. AND THOMPSON HAS EQUALIIIIIIIIIIIISED! IT'S UNBELIEVABLE STUFF NOW!

BrummieFOX Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Another classic bit of Wembley commentary which is etched in the memory! "....Joachim bit of magic from him perhaps, it's a good ball. Grayson, Ormondroyd....brilliant save.....IT's IN, Walsh has scored, Leicester City are in dreamland now, that might be the goal that final takes them, to heaven. Because heaven is what these fans will regard, The Premierhsip!!!" Goosebump central! Sorry I couldnt be bothered to search youtube for a clip but you all know how it happened.
