LEICESTER and Coventry are battling it out for Kevin Phillips’ signature after he was released by Birmingham.

The Midlands rivals are convinced Phillips, 36, can still find the net on a regular basis.

The Foxes could even offer the former Sunderland hotshot a Premier League return if they go up via the play-offs.

Ive always liked him. I would love him here if we were a Championship side. Probably not if we are in the Premier League.

Believe it when I see it but it would be good to have someone like that to come off the bench.

until this season i would of loved him to come to us, but think about it, do we need him? Fryatt, Gallagher, Howard, Kermorgant, Dyer, N'guessian all most probably be here next year with the addition of Waghorn / Vaughan if promoted?

Dont see the space for another 10/15 k In wages a week for a sub

I've always wanted him here, if i'm honest he's had a good season with Birmingham playing a bit part season off the bench.

But his age worries me, start of this season i'd snatch your hand off for him.

Always been a fan of him though.

Always seemed to me as though he scores every time he plays against us, wouldn't mind him in the championship, but wouldn't be extremely happy if we signed him should we go up.

I'd have him in my squad, he's been prolific at this level.

Do we need the "Wholly Made-up & Unsubstantiated Groundless Rumours Forum" opened up again? :dunno:

I think it may be that time of year again

I really can't make a judgement on this one - If he was fit and sharp enough and we were in the Championship... maybe - but without a detailed dossier of info I'll leave judgement to "Team Nige."

I'd take him, he is Birmingham's top scorer i believe, even at his age

cant see any of those in Bold playing in the prem if we get promoted

Good player, but too old. Lets focus on youth as our core squad are all early twentys.

Yes ; i think this is always the best policy , for a club such as Leicester ,

Bring in the good prospects and budding stars of the future and it's at least an investment ( okay i know it may be a lot harder than i've made it sound ) but we seem to have wasted an awful lot on the over 30's in fees and inflated wages over the years

yes. Then all these rumours will be in there and we don't have to scroll past such tripe for actual news.

Well if it was in The Star then it MUST be true!

And even though it isn't, we don't want KP anyway... we already have enough slow strikers.

Im a big fan of Kevin Phillips, a prolific striker and a player that has done it at the highest level.

But at 36, as we are building a squad capable of becoming a permiership mainstay, not now.

If we got up this season, he'd be no good for us. He's been a peripheral figure this season for Brum and i imagine he would be much the same for us IF we got up.

If we didnt, would he contribute to what we already have? i mean would he work with Fryatt well? i dont think of him as a target man or holdup type player so id say no. Furthermore, he would be another forward without pace.

If this opportunity had arisen one or two seasons ago, id have been delighted. But now, im not so sure
