KFS Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 We can strengthen the squad now. No real promotion threat from teams in the Champ. I'm happy, the lads did me proud tonight, battled so hard and have done all season. I'm only worried that King, Hobbs and co won't stay and Pearson will go. I can't bring myself to hate Kermo, never really rated him but I can't hate him.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 I agree with you, a bit of investment in the right places and holding onto our best players and I can see us having a good season again.
Narborough_fox Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 God I don't know where I stand. League 1 teams coming up are stronger than the Prem ones coming down. Fear Pearson & Co, may go. BUT right signings up there again just have to wait and see!
Ricey Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 Couple more quality players and we could be a real force next season. It wasn't pivotal for us to get promoted this season, another season in the Championship doesn't worry me. Hopefully Hobbs, King, Fryatt, Peason etc will stay. We are still on track.
jonthefox Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 regardless of tonight. i am so proud to be a fox. roll on next season i say.

KFS Posted 12 May 2010 Author Posted 12 May 2010 So what positions need filling lads? Solano is too old I reckon and we need another centre back to replace Bruce/ Brown. That is if Bruce doesn't stay. Need a CM and a new striker to fill Waggy's boots.
Bilo Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 We need a left-back to deputise for and eventually replace Berner. Same with a centre-half for Brown, or possibly a right-back to enable Morrison to move into the more natural position in the middle of defence. Oakley is on his last legs so a good centre midfielder would be a wise move, as would a striker with ability to hold up the ball and win flick-ons a la Howard. Four players and we could be on our way.
Bryn Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I think a few ins are needed to sustain our level of performance. Long term replacements for Berner and Howard. A striker or two to replace Waghorn and Vaughan. A defender to replace Bruce (I'd promote Morrison to first choice centreback in the continued absence of Tunchev. A credible rightback. Hopefully Spearing can come again, failing that another energetic midfielder to replace Oakley. I wouldn't be adverse to a right winger as well. I make that at least 6 signings, possibly more. That's definitely the downside to the loan system, having a turnover of players. I reckon if he could choose Pearson would have a squad to which he would add few additions to each season.
Ozwin Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I honestly think Waghorn will be with us perminantly next season, his contract's up if what we've heard is true and I reckon he'll want to make up for tonight (allbeit it wasn't his fault in the slightest). He collapsed through sheer sadness/exhaustion which just shows how much he's put into the club, I think he loves it here.
topharry123 Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 i think we need at least 2 more strikers. Howard can do another year, he's been excellent the last few weeks, but he's getting on and won't be able to play as much in the future. Kermogant just hasn't cut it and waghorn and Vaughn are likelyto be out. That doesn't leave us with much up top! I think the midfield is pretty strong. Wellens shows great passion and skill week in week out, and dyer and gallacher have really come on a lot. maybe we could add another center midfielder but i think that's oour strongest area. as far as defence goes, 1 more center back or right back, depending on where morrison plays. i like Nobby Solano, but he's definately past his best. Every time he got the ball today my heart felt like it was in my throat as he did some strange things (like the handball and the odd tackle), We need to keep the backbone of the team, which i see as weale, hobbs, wellens and fryatt. Hobbs might be tricky because of the season he's had but think he'll stay. Pearson has to stay. This season i 've really started to rate him incredibly highly. Don't get me wrong, he did a good job last year but i think 90% of managers would of taken us up last year with the team we had, so for me how he did this season was a test of how good for us he really was. he passed it with flying colours, and i have no doubt that this man will take us into the premier league at some point. He's installed agression and passion in the players, they all look proud to be wearing the blue shirt now, whearas under past managers they didn't!
flanimal Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Relegation looms. Wankers. How dare you think you'd actually beat us. 90 Million, here we come. Bye bye The score was 3-2 to us, you mug. We did beat you.
Chrysalis Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 next season is there for the taking. I feel the only other team next season that are likely to go for it are forest. It seems tho even they are in for trouble as davies might be leaving them in the summer. if blackpool go up they will probably buy DJ when a few months back we couldnt even give him away, so we can potentially have a couple of million in cash from him, and him of the wage bill, clemence off the wage bill also. I think with a bit of ambition from mandaric we can have a go at it next season.
AndyBrew Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Relegation looms. Wankers. How dare you think you'd actually beat us. 90 Million, here we come. Bye bye I'd spend a bit more time on your own fans board or don't they let you on there either, you're making yourself and your club look a little silly mate
Callabinho Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Waggy will stay i think ! If Cardiff can get there why wont they let Celtic and rangers have a go, they are actually good teams anyway D.J Will sink them and i hope he does, they dont belong in the prem !! and for the record the peno was never a peno chopra was a mile off side !! And how dare you come on here and call us ? your sorry club will never reach the heights we did ! im sorry but if you go up, youll come straight back down again, both chopra and bothroyd are kack in the premier league ! i hope you get battered by d.j and co i really do ! any was next season top on the league !!! C'MON YOU BLUEEEES !!
Guest Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Ignore the idiots and be genuine. Cardiff played really well and should do okay in the Prem. How could you possibly want hollowhead to get in the Prem (or DJ)?
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 For the majority of the season, we were a pretty strong team and most other teams were worried about us. We played some excellent stuff against Cardiff (barring the first 15 minutes or so) and looked like we could score each time we went forward. Kept the ball well and we have some intelligent players. True, they also had us on the ropes but Cardiff have to be one of the best attacking teams in the league this year. I would hate Holloway to take Blackpool up, but if they do then Cardiff could be in a bit of money trouble and I would love us to go for Bothroyd. Just the sort of player we'd love to have playing for us but hate to play against. Whittingham would also be quality. We have played the loan market excellently over the last two seasons, so hopefully that can continue (maybe even trying to pick up one or two of this season's on a permanent basis like we did with Hobbs). If we keep Nigel and the team sticks together, there's no reason we can't give next season a really good go (although expectation will be cranked up by how close we have come). Our win against Boro with a reserve team and our subs bench for most of this season shows the strength of the squad - players like Vaughan, Adams, NGuessan, Brown, Oakley, Morrison, Kermogant etc would get into most first XI's in the rest of the Championship teams. The Championship is always an especially difficult league to predict, but I can't see a Newcastle or even a West Brom (always strong in this league) among the teams coming down. Hull are on the slide, Burnley have probably had their day and Portsmouth are likely to implode. Norwich and Leeds might have momentum coming back up, although Leeds only just scraped up and I think they will find it difficult. Who else? Forest are likely to be strong again, Cardiff will be up there if they don't win at Wembley but I can't see Blackpool giving it another charge. Sheff United, Reading and Middlesborough are probably the only other ones I would see challenging for the top two. That's how I see it now - could all change in three months' time.
