DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Why? Because of the money? He'd probably be playing against teams or equal staure here in The Championship. With the exception of European games and those against Rangers, the rest are very poor. And NFP seems to impress, whereas Lenny is very unknown. Nobody improves their CV by playing or managing in Scotland.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 What a load of garbage. The most successful Leicester team we ever had, contained many Scottish players, and a Scottish manager. Matt Gillies (Manager) Frank Mclintock Ian King John Sjoberg Jimmy Walsh Davie Gibson Ian White Bobby Roberts These, plus others. What a load of garbage. Guest Basildon Fox Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 you answered your own question there, pal. It would be the perfect environment for someone like him to go on loan for a season to pick up match fitness.. Also Home games in front of 58,000 fans, champions league games against the likes of Arsenal... ect last season... I dont care who the opposition is... the chance to play in front of 58,000 people who are fanatical about the team you are playing for... what better way to get a much needed season under your belt.. i mean... yeah.... who would want to go there... If that is his ambition to play in front of a large crowd against the likes of Calley Thistle every game then I don't think he is the sort of player we require anyway. I can understand people like Lennon and Keane going there because of the Irish Catholic club thing but that does not count for players like Vaughn.
MPH Posted 18 June 2010 Posted 18 June 2010 Playing in front of 58000 people one week and then playing away at the equivalent of an english 3rd tier the next. Even the sweaties admit that their standards are low. If you want to improve your CV and prove yourself against a decent calibre of player don't head north young man. But thats the thing.. i think he doesnt need to improve his CV, just his fitness - There probably isnt be a Prem manager who wont be keeping tabs on him. Sure they can judge him on the wet windy Wednesday away nights if they want to, but i bet they will be seeing how he gets on in the champs league aswell.... Having said that, those Wednesday away nights will probably be just as much a test of his character.. will be hard for him to stay motivated for games like those..

Many english clubs had numerous scottish and irish players in their squads at the time. They don't any more. Scottish football is in the main very poor NOWADAYS

h1210 Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Bolton are set to sign £1m-rated 21-year-old Everton striker James Vaughan. Full story: News of the World
Callabinho Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Bolton want him also don't think we will make many signings. Pearson won't want to unsettle the team too much, however we do need a class playmaker !

How would it unsettle the squad? He most likely knows the team that he will be playing with if he came here.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 June 2010 Posted 21 June 2010 And when was that team playing? Many english clubs had numerous scottish and irish players in their squads at the time. They don't any more. Scottish football is in the main very poor NOWADAYS You must be joking. Most of those players I mentioned were discovered in Highland league football. Are you trying to tell me that only England can supply quality players? Hope your watching the World Cup, and enjoying the best of England's footballers. There are plenty of players in Scotland. The problem is with the clubs who do not have the set up, or ability to find them. You seem to think time has eroded Scottish player's ability, while ours remain supposedly wonderful. Take off those rose tinted glasses, and talk some sense.
hackneyfox Posted 21 June 2010 Posted 21 June 2010 They are doing better than the sweaties, in case you hadn't noticed. Name all the top sweaties playing in The Premier. There are probably more Innuits playing than jocks. We may be poor but we're not as poor as the Celts.

The Doctor Posted 21 June 2010 Posted 21 June 2010 Emile Eskimo. some real players. Tbh i don't know why how many scots are playing in the top tier of english football affects the quality of the scottish leagues. It's like claiming that there are very few english players playing in spain and so the english league system is poor. edit: or should that be how how many scots are playing in the top tier of english football affects the quality of the scottish leagues?
hackneyfox Posted 22 June 2010 Posted 22 June 2010 The fact that there aren't any english players in spain is to the detriment of english football.
