Jackirius Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Dont think its already been posted, Looking through bbc sport this morning and this popped up... Leicester are keen on signing Everton striker James Vaughan on a permanent deal for a fee of £1m. (Daily Mail) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/8685915.stm
Fox92 Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 I'd take him. Fast, strong, good in the air, and can score when given the chance. Just abit injury prone thats all, so as long as Everton didn't want alot thats alright. Thought his contract run out anyway?
Callabinho Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Ive heard similar, but a loan deal and we pay 70% of his wages, I know he wants to stay ! if Brown is fired though, I think Vaughan was involved in that incident not sure how though, but id love to see him here !
Ike O'Noclassed Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Interesting if true. From talking to Evertonians, he's highly rated, but there is an attitude problem, reckoning his injury niggles are in part self-inflicted by poor training discipline. Had an inkling he might be the most likely of the Loan Rangers to become permanent, until I got hopelessly confused by his non-appearance in the play-offs... might find an explanation this week.
Leicester Bean Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 So happy when I heard this! I think that he could be a key signing this season!
Guest Bilo Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Would be a decent signing if true, on form and fit he could give most defenders in this division nightmares. He's quick, strong, good in the air as has already been said and has a vicious shot. If we can keep him fit, we're going to have a damned good strike force next season.
artursteppe Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 So happy when I heard this! I think that he could be a key signing this season! Great news if it's true! Manderic and the Everton chairman are mates. I very like Vaughan, if he could stay fit I think he will be better than Waggy, especially at 1 million instead of 2 million plus for Waggy.
marbelladave Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 He is a good young player, made quite a splash when he emerged a year or two back. If he has the kind of issues mentioned above then perhaps a change of scene would be good for him and we know Pearson will not stand any nonsense. Being a regular starter with us rather than a bit part player at Everton might concentrate his mind wonderfully. Fit and firing he would be a great asset at this level.
Bettsj2 Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 If we get him it will be a superb signing. He has the potential to be better than Waghorn and our training discipline would certainly reduce his injury woes.

If ever there was a manager to shake that attitude out fo him though? It has to be NP
DeclanMC Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Love that in one thread everyone is mass debating over waghorn coming here on a perm, and in this one everyone is saying how vaughan could be better than waghorn! Seriously though, Vaughan is prem quality, in the handful of times we have seen him play, we have seen it, like when he outmuscled that defender to go on to score against watford, that was straight out of a premier league match. If fryatt had to go for financial reasons, Vaughan could be a major part of how we play next season.
red5 Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 I also liked vaughan, fast, strong and good in the air, I would have him instead of waghorn, he's faster and can win the ball in the air.
Leicester Bean Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 It would be nice to have a forward who is good at everything. It's ok Howard holding the ball up and then Fryatt tapping it in. But to have someone like Vaughan who can do everything. Could be another key signing for next season.

But then we'll rely on him too much and in his injury-prone state (which I hope he gets out of during his career if possible). Once we rely on him too much, it means too much pressure is placed solely on him. It's good to have different strikers who can do different jobs.

Yeah I agree it's good to have different strikers for different jobs but it's always want good to have a main, first choice striker who can do a bit of everything. With Fryatt they'd be a great partnership I reckon.
lou Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Havent seen any signs of bad attitude from him and NP wouldnt want him back if he did. Would love him here but cant see it happening.

maddog Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 We've really moved on from Paul Dickov, Elvis Hammond and Barry Hayles.
StanSP Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 £1m would be a good deal for us. £1m is never going to happen/materialise .
dandannieldanok Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 £1m would be a good deal for us. If you can get him fully fit and keep him fully fit then yes. Otherwise it's a waste of money we simply can't afford to lose. Would be a massive risk imo.
