syston_fox Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Right, here's my view on it all from yesterday. I didn't join in with all the fosse boys stuff but sat behind you all so I could give an outside opinion on it so don't shoot me down. 1 - Visually - pretty impressive. It's clear that a lot of work has gone into this and the scarfs and banners looked impressive, as did all the balloons being waved around as the teams came out rather than just throwing them straight into the air. 2 - Chants - loved some of the new ones but the "Down low" one was way over done and was just doing our heads in by the end. A few rounds of it used throughout the game for maybe three or four verses might have been better because to be honest it sounded like a lot of people involved in the fosse boys were fed up by the end of the song and wanted to try something new. As I said though, the new songs were very catchy especially the one with "the ghost of filbert street still roars." What I would say though is try to include a few more of the older well known chants that are used. I know you want to try something new but when you did "Oh when the blues", people around you in the next block joined in as well instead of just staring at you wondering what was going on. A bit of variety between older and newer songs could help to get more people involved and raise the profile when within the stadium. Failing that, how about putting leaflets around where you position yourself telling people who you are and what you aim to acheive - put a link to the website on and you might get a few new members joining. 3 - The shushing in the second half - I understand what you were trying to acheive but it just pissed everyone off. We applaud a good pass and just get shushed. I know that wound a few people up the wrong way and in my view undid some of the good work you had done in the first half. Just my opinion on it. Overall though, this was just a dress rehersal and Im sure a few lessons have been learnt and will only help to imrove things in the long run. I didn't know what to think about it ahead of the game but good luck for the future with it all.
purpleronnie Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Yeah I think the whole shusshing will just alienate the group from the rest of the fans. You need support not just from the club but from fellow fans too. Having said that it sounds like it was a pretty impressive start. Well done!
LCFC-ARAB Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 The pictures werent taken from the best of angles, you cant see the people behind the banner but thats the first couple that have popped up on facebook
davieG Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Looking forward to seeing them. A bit of editing for anonymity purposes might be advisble though. Why the need for anonymity? It comes across like you've got something to hide. There's been plenty of images on here and facebook of LCFC/Foxestalk fans. Puzzled

AndyBrew Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 I have to agree the ssshing was not required but I think it was directed at mr barclay as opposed to other fans, born out of a bit of frustration I think, as said lesson learn't
Bettsj2 Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 I just knew someone would ask that. Whats the link to your facebook page?
davieG Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 I just knew someone would ask that. Not disappointed then! Perhaps you have an answer.
AoWW Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Maybe just wear balaclavas in future - save yourselves the hassle of all that editing.

AndyBrew Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Yep I'm confused about the covering faces thing to?? However my 13 year old son who's on the end of the banner is well impressed that his face has been covered up, he's not quite sure why, i think he feels that he is now an international man of mystery !
davieG Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 I'm not very photogenic. I had a big spot on my nose to hide All very amusing, but that and the original anonymity reinforces a negative view of you. Shame really because what the basic idea is very commendable.
purpleronnie Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Not disappointed then! Perhaps you have an answer. Maybe some members dont want their faces plastered all over the WWW. Any group can become focus of prying eyes. There are more reasons but one alone is enough. There's no harm done anyway, no big deal just because some faces are blanked out.
leftsideoverhere Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Maybe Arab felt he couldn't just post up a picture with people's faces on it without their permission?
foss1884 Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Right boys and girls, the Leicester Mercury have been in touch. Tim Murray got back to me and he is passing the idea of a story onto Steve Pumfrey who will be in tomorrow. I will keep you posted. These names mean nothing to me, but the email was very positive. Come on!
foss1884 Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Oh and on behalf of York City Football Club they wish us the best of luck in getting this off the ground and support our actions!
AndyBrew Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Maybe Arab felt he couldn't just post up a picture with people's faces on it without their permission? Now that makes sense, good point
AoWW Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Maybe Arab felt he couldn't just post up a picture with people's faces on it without their permission? Yeah, you're right - far better to give the Club and Barclay the impression you've something to hide.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 The fact is, i just don't like my face all over the internet on a public forum i don't think that is weird....

davieG Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 The fact is, i just don't like my face all over the internet on a public forum i don't think that is weird.... Fair enough but there's no denying in the scheme of things it comes across negatively. If you get filmed by the TV companies or photographed by the Merc/LCFC are you going to ask them to cover your face because you can guarantee it will end up on the web. As for asking someones permission which has been given as a reason well that's just rubbish as anyone of us attending a game are likely to end up in some media. Anyway it's your decision just an extremely odd one.
leftsideoverhere Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Yeah, you're right - far better to give the Club and Barclay the impression you've something to hide. Like what? Besides, since the club and the police can, and do, video fans whenever and wherever they like, they can, and will, have video and photos of anyone who took part yesterday. They'll hardly need to scour foxestalk for pictures. FWIW, I'd be fine with my face being shown in the pictures. But I can imagine someone objecting if Arab had put the photo up without asking. Instead, he's got stick for doing it this way. Typical.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 1 August 2010 Posted 1 August 2010 Just outside the Granby Halls car park. Welford Road area was covered with em! and the little white stickers with the site adress.
