Fosse Boys - Leicester City Ultras

The club officialsI have seen all our faces and they will have over 90 minutes of high quality video from the CCTV of us. Personally I have nothing to hide as Iam a proud member of the Fosse Boys, however I understand why the group leaders could be concerned about publishing a picture without the express permission of all those on it. Yesterday shows how easy things can be taken the wrong way. I just thing the group are exercising caution rather than hiding anything. I accept what DavieG is saying about negative perception but Ithink caution is probably the wisest option. Also by having the question asked we have given the opportunity to put down the reasons for all to see so good question.

You guys done a good job first half but what happened for the 2nd ? I'm not being criticle but it was a shame you gave up at half time

I think that this act of covering the faces is just one of the few ultras 'traditions' (for want of a better word) that has been transferred to this style of support by the Fosse Boys.

It's akin to people who are into certain types of music and emulating their attitudes and fashion etc.

Agree that it could provoke negative feelings from those who see it. So it is up to us to let them know exactly why it is done.

Please enlighten us because you've just added to the list of possible reasons.

Just to clarify my view on the negative aspect, if I was involved at LCFC in dealing with this I'd be wondering as football fans what have you got to hide.

I'd also like to say that if I'd have been free to go yesterday I had been thinking of taking my cam and filming you in action and posting it on the web just like I have with the 36 members who attended the 6 a side footy.

No one that I know of before has ever taken this 'cover up' approach which in itself also makes it highly suspicious.

Yeah, you're right - far better to give the Club and Barclay the impression you've something to hide.

To be fair there were a few kids in the photo as well, not really a great idea to be posting pictures of kids on the web....Barclay knows we have nothing to hide as the main organisers have met him.

Another thing is that whilst all the posts on here are great, you have to understand that the views people make our not always representative of the group as a whole!

Yesterday was brilliant, was a bit worried when we got to the pub and no-one was there but we left to buy tickets and then came back everyone had turned up! Loved the continental march to the ground, first half was ace!

The "Viva Leicester" song was used a lot because it is the only way we have thought up a way of combating persistant standing. If there wasnt such a demand from the club for us to sit down i can say we definately wouldn't have been using it so much.

We also didnt think that incorporating more than 4 new songs would be feasable. We just wanted people to learn these for now. We have plenty more songs ready!

The Sshhing was annoying but annoying for a reason (Yes it was immature).

On a personal view, not sure how people can actually sit through 90 minutes of that, 2nd half was dire !

Anyone remember this song,

Sung to the tune of I am a Union Man by the Strawbs,

Now I am an Leicester fan,

Amazed at what I am

I say what I think

That the other teams stink

‘Cos I am an Leicester fan.

When we meet in the soccer ground

We’ll put up such a sound,

With a hell of a shout

It’ll be get the others (buggers) out,

And the price of the sodding(facking) pound,

Oh you don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

You don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

You don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

Til the day I die, til the day I die.

As an Leicester fan I’m wise,

To the lies of the others spies

I don’t get fooled

By the fa’s rules

Cause I always read between the lines

And I always get my way

If I shout for the team to up their play

When I show my shirt

To the others they hurt

And this is what I say

Oh you don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

You don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

You don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

Til the day I die, til the day I die.

Before the team they did appear

My song was not as clear

Now I’ve got the power

For the next full hour

And every other game of the year

So though I’m an Leicester fan

I can ruin the others plan

Though I’m not too hard

This game will get hard

We’ll be some kind of superman

Oh you don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

You don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

You don’t get me I’m part of Leicester

Til the day I die, til the day I die.

Yes Davie.

What I think we are talking about here is transparency.

What are ultra groups all about?

If we say that the 'Fosse Boys' are a group of passionate fans attempting to restore a more vocal atmosphere to the stadium who love football and detest the inherent violence, racism, homophobia, gang mentality and hooliganism associated with other football supporting collectives traditionally associated with the latter - then great, I wish them every success.

If the Fosse Boys don't want to be labelled as any of the above I think the group needs a degree of transparency. If there are elements of the above within the membership group, organisers should consider the following:

Who is being represented, by whom and for what reasons?

If the Fosse Boys wish to involve the media and create a quality public name and reputation, issues regarding transparency and connotations of associated hooligan behaviour must be considered. Unfortunately those who have preceded you have not made it easy for you to establish your motives without negative association and suspicion.

I say this only so people consider their position and their actions, the posting of the last photograph with faces blacked out will do far more harm than good. In fact not posting the photo at all would have been a wiser collective move than leaving the Fosse Boys open to public speculation as to why they may need to hide their faces.

You may have already done this but decide who you are, what you want to achieve and how you want to do this. Then decide what you don't want to be a vehicle for, how you can ensure your name remains unassociated with traditional fundamentalist / extremist football groups and how you communicate that to your members, without having the old cliche: "That wasn't one of the Fosse Boys who did or said that - It was a splinter group......"

Once you've done the above, think how you communicate this to the public. How will they know you are not an extremist football collective hell bent on handbags and 'jack-a-nory' tales of pointless masculine confrontation? What will be different and how will the public know? (Apart from the lack of violence of course) I ask these questions so the Fosse Boys can prepare in advance - so when their identity is questioned, the Fosse Boys can say " we are a transparent collective - we have nothing to hide"

I then as a Foxestalk community member can then in turn say "They are a great bunch of people and I understand what they stand for."

It's going to be a difficult ride - good luck,

N.

we really have got nothing to hide!

the club know exactly who we are

we sat opposite a desk from barclay and we would have been on cctv cameras all afternoon yesterday

i really just dont like the idea of having my face all over a public forum!

nothing more!

it really shouldnt be a big deal!

I think people are getting slightly ahead of themselves here. The photos have been posted on an obscure internet forum and show some teenagers holding a flag, this is not and will not be V for Vandeta and the very fabric of society will not be changed by this. All these lads want to do is inject some fun to the match day, if people want to join them they can they only ask that if you join in you are respectful. If you cant then I very much doubt you'd enjoy their company anyhow.

Maybe just wear balaclavas in future - save yourselves the hassle of all that editing.

Or a Burka?

Burdda could make LCFC Burka's, Marketing options for the club.

Yes Davie.

What I think we are talking about here is transparency.

There are many good and legitimate reasons to edit photographs - usually because they are potentially offensive on internet forums, such as this one:

I'd imagine the original picture showed someone fist****ing a vole or something. It would be best if none of us pried any further. :yesyes:

Its embarrassing really, RL nowadays seem to talk more and more shit.

And sorry if this is a stupid question, but I dont understand why Strigner said 'Portugese contingent' why would he think that?!

Probably assumed that because we had a Portugese manager, Portugese people are bound to come all the way on the plane just to have a sing and dance.

We've opened up a huge gap in Portuguese followers since appointing Paulo Sousa didn't you know?! :giggle:

ahhhhh right. Apart from names being read out, what else do you want to hear at a football match apart from singing?

Anything but 40 children screaming in my ear.
