DanTheFox07 Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Just curious to know people`s thought`s on how u see Nguessan progressing in our side into next season has spent a lot of it on the wings this year! Like what i have seen of him in certain games and ive heard negative things also but all in all still rate him as very good prospect! has pace and power which are good attributes. Im curious to know where people see him playing in future? do u think he will continue as a fringe player on the wings or we will start to use him as a striker/target man?
Guest Mee-9 Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 He looks a decent winger, very strong. Scored 6 goals this season so we know he can score.
UrbanFox Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 I would like to see him play upfront more with his power and pace. he could be a poor mans drogba!
Mee Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Very strong player in my opinion. Needs a few consecutive games under his belt to get into his stride. Wish we would play him more.
fosseman Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 I was disappointed in him this season. He looks to have all the attributes of being an excellent player but he failed to deliver too often when given the chance. I look forward to seeing him force his way into the team as a speedy winger.
DanTheFox07 Posted 20 May 2010 Author Posted 20 May 2010 I think could be useful as a striker, didn`t really get an opportunity to play there this season! should get some idea of what pearson plan`s to do with him in pre-season
Narborough_fox Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 He looks a decent winger, very strong. Scored 6 goals this season so we know he can score. I feel that if he had been played all year he would of been in 15 goals region! Prefer him to Dyer!

Bugg Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 He may be good and score goals, but in my opinion he sometimes never looks interested at all, but when he is interested he is a quality player.
martyn Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 In theory he has all the attributes to be a decent player, power, pace and the ability to cross and finish. For my mind however, he takes far too long to get the ball under real control, is far to hesitant to use the aforementioned attributes and lacks a Plan B if things aren't working for him. If some real confidence can be instilled in him, and he is somehow able to become more dynamic when receiving and in possession, he could be a very important player. As it stands, he is a squad player.
SirBlueFoxington Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Annoyed that Nige never really gave him many chances this season, because every time he did play he was good from what i remember.
Cobbo Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 He is, as many a winger of his age are, inconsistent. You see some blinding things from him, then he will dribble out of play under no pressure. The potential is there though. Good crossing ability (see Fryatt header vs QPR) mixed with pace and power are 3 good assets for a forward player to have. His goals:time on the pitch ratio must be pretty good too, another good knack to have. A good prospect with a fair bit of potential, managed in the right way & with the right attitude I would think he could become a top Championship player, but can't see beyond that. Good signing (again) by Nigel & his scouts.
Koke Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 He's inconsistent like. That's his #1 problem. One game he's absolute unplayable, giving the opposition a horrid time, and then the next game he's gash. Though his goal-to-game ratio is very good though. He's played far less games than Wellens and Oakley and he's still managed to score 6 goals. He has all the attributes to become a top Championship player if he gets more consistent.
FoxyPV Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Any time I've seen him he's been a constant threat but his final ball is generally lacking though. As others have said he has the potential to score 10+ goals a season if given the game time.
Ozwin Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 I want to see him up front as the target man type striker.
Cat Burger Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 If there's no attitude problem I think he should be in the team. Based on the QPR game alone he has more in his locker than any of our wingers. We can't call Dyer or Gally consistent either unfortunately and neither of them can do the same damage as an in form Dany. The only way to achieve consistency is surely experience and game time which he's not been given this season. Saying that we'll still do okay if he doesn't play at all.

Yep...brilliant at times and rather woeful at others. I agree that he will eventually become a decent CCC player (who knows he possess the pace what's needed at top flight level). I don't agree with the final ball comments. When he dribbles he starts well, then loses control and then when gets the chance, his crossing is immense. See QPR....when Fryatt scored (and the disallowed goal).
RowlattsFox Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 I'm expecting big things from him next season to be honest. Impressed me at times this season but as everyone has said consistency is poor.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 So far for me he's too inconsistent. Some great spells but other times just seems to not be up for it. Not good enough for a regular start as at time s lazy and disinterested. He needs to step up to command a starting place and cement it as his own. I still am not sure what his best position is. Gallagher and Dyer are better at present (and I think Gradel was too tbh). I just hope he can be nurtured into a more consistent performer. Seems better coming off the bench.
poopbutt Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 that's because he was playing well and then got benched for formation reasons and didn't play for ages. you can't expect him to come straight back into the team and play at his optimum. it is up to the lad to push that to one side and do his best, but that's easier said than done.
CosbehFox Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Point taken but he has a trait for being defensively lazy, that's something which should be expected.
Ike O'Noclassed Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Fans always expect too much too soon - scoring the winner on the first afternoon and generally looking very useful early on - probably inevitable he'd lose his way a bit ... but overall a decent season and plenty of potential. He could do a Hobbs and really blossom in his second season, or stay in the shadows and probably go out on loan (as Nicky Adams). His physicality (Drogbaesque as a poster has pointed out) should be his biggest asset. However, still remember the Imps fans warning us that he was lazy and could look disinterested - still needs to convince us that that is not the case.
marbelladave Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Some interesting posts. For much of this season, since the game at St James' park in fact, I have been calling for him to be played up front, in that game he was used as a target man (Howard was out) even though deployed to the right. His first touch is excellent as his ability to get clear of of the first defender, both qualities are of great value when displayed around and inside the box. Receiving the ball 40 yards out the defender is usually less tight and although N'Guessan may still get past him there is time for other defenders to close him down. Add to this his ability in the air and his goal scoring threat it is easy to see why he might do well up front. Ideally I would have him well forward on the left, his pace on the outside will keep the fullback 'honest' and he is a real threat coming inside. This should also suit Fryatt, who when looking for space away from the middle, usually pulls out to the left so the two of them should be able to interchange with some ease. Playing him well forward in this way would give him the chance to use his skills to best advantage, he is so much more interested and involved in forward positions than when required to work up and down as a wide midfielder.
RobHawk Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 He may be good and score goals, but in my opinion he sometimes never looks interested at all, but when he is interested he is a quality player. This! Cardiff and Swansea away he hardly looked interested!! Other games i saw he was a real handful! It seems to depend on him mood whether he will play well or not!! certainly not a consitent performer!

It seems to depend on him mood whether he will play well or not!! certainly not a consitent performer! True enough but it would be more helpful if we could find out why this is the case or whether he is just a 'daisy' as some suggest. I offer the view that he really wants to be an attacking player, I think many of his less effective games are when he is given (or has to take on) a conventional wide midfield role. Working up and down the flank is really not his game, he looks a much better player in attacking positions and he has scored a goal or to from a very limited number of starts. Again I feel this is a case of getting a player to work to his strengths rather than worry about his limitations.
