lovelcfc Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 sorry if theard done but who achully thinks we will get promotion next year as i think it will be very hard
jonthefox Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 I think we have a great chance. Theres no one relegated from the prem that bothers me, so the usual suspects are forest, blades and whoever loses tomorrow. As long as we keep the bulk of our current squad and a few little additions , then i truly believe we have another great season ahead of us.
maddog Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 I think it's going to be a hell of a lot tougher than this season. First season is normally the best chance. 2nd season syndrome could kick in. Bristol City lost out in the playoff final in their first season and have finished 10th twice since then.
Flynny Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Wouldn't be unhappy with 10th twice if I'm completely honest, but I think we're less likely to sell our best players, more likely to kick on, and have a coach who is more than a motivator and tactically astute.
cameroon bluebird Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 Hi Guys, stop worrying about next season, it will take care of itself, look at us this time last year..........believe me we felt worse than you do now, at least you made the playoffs, you never blew an 11 point lead over 7th. a few facts. thoroughly enjoyed all five games against you, took my kids to the league match at your place, even though we lost had a great time, the drummer was a real laugh. not sure about his white shorts though??? your manager is very gracious, your supporters very passionate, your chairman enthusiastic and your team do not know the meaning of the word defeat. basically a lot going for you, if we lose tomorrow then I will be looking forward to playing you immediately, you no doubt likewise!!! even we do go up it will only be for one season as debts will swallow the filthy sky lucre and if we don't the championship is great, real teams, real supporters, not much corporate crap and unexpected results week after week after week. And just in case you think I have come on here to patronise you (had enough of our board, a bit too much over-confidence for my liking) then as a passionate welshman I would like to wish Engerlund every sucess in the world cup, hate the europeans and always support english teams in all euro competitions, that includes WC and EC. as long as it does not go to...........................................then you will probably win it. good luck next season

I think you will have too much up top for Blackpool, good luck anyway.

Whilst we'd all love to be in the prem I can't help but feel annoyed at the nobs that come out of the woodwork. It's hard to explain but when one year you've got mates ripping you for being in league one and the next telling you that they're massive city fans (when we're in the playoffs!) It all just reeks of ex Utd 'fans'. Ugh rant over, I wish I could get across in words what I actually mean!
cameroon bluebird Posted 21 May 2010 Posted 21 May 2010 most football fans are decent, even the majority of our inbred cousins down west are reasonable people, unfortunately people let hatred overcome rivalry and it all goes tits up. fact is that when I took my kids to your ground this season (72 down, 20 to go) the good folk of leicester that we met before the match genuinely seemed nice and we had a good time with them, it should be like that everywhere but as ever the idiots spoil it for us all. I will make a point of coming back on here next week if we lose to state again that I am looking forward to the Championship, other than the money it is miles better than the plastic league and that is a fact. what will you enjoy more, getting a 1-1 at Forest or losing 4 -0 at home to Chelsea...no brainer?......... nearly tired enough to go to sleep, enjoy the world cup, Wales have a friendly in Croatia tomorrow, no players and no fans, only the Welsh FA could have organised that... this is the kind of thing we have to put up with
David Guiza Posted 22 May 2010 Posted 22 May 2010 If Blackpool go up today i think it's hard to find many teams in the division who aren't in serious money troubles for a start. Preston, Cardiff, Sheff Utd, Pompey, Hull and Derby have all been roumerd to be struggling finacially. I personally don't see a reason why we can't use this season as a step towards a better season next season. Assuming we hang on to Hobbs, Weale, King, Fryatt and Berner and add to that some half decent signings i thnk we will be in a very strong position along with the likes of Forest, Boro, Burnley and Swansea for example. Very early to say but thats my opinion.
Spiritwalker Posted 23 May 2010 Posted 23 May 2010 Now that next seasons Championship line up is almost complete I think the main contenders will be : Burnley Middlesboro Forest Cardiff - if they don't have to weaken Norwich Leicester This could be our best chance for many years. There are no stand out teams and much will depend on our Chairman in the coming weeks. Will we keep our better players and add quality to the obvious weak positions in our squad ? We know MM has been putting his hand in his pocket for 3 years to cover the shortfall but there has been a worrying silence from our Chairman since the playoff defeat.

cameroon bluebird Posted 24 May 2010 Posted 24 May 2010 well I said I'd be back, and it's Cameroon not Cameron. I was brought up in Cameroon (they are my second country) and whilst living there met the great Roger Milla, only problem was he only speaks french, still, got to shake the great mans hand just before the 1990 world cup, they lost to your boys on pens (dodgy) but beat Argentina 1-0 with 9 men I believe. anyway, having put in our worst defensive 45 mins of the season in our biggest game we find ourselves still in the championship, although losing the best target man in the championship aftert 10 mins did not help, in fact we now discover that Burke was not fit either. Biggest shock was in the match day programme, Blackpool have 6 MORE players than us, our financial problems, second smallest squad in the championship and no players signed in any capacity since last august (only team to sign no-one during the season) has finally caught up with us. Any way good luck to them, from the chats we had with them on the trains before and after the match they will have to spend a lot of their cash sorting out their ground, at least they will get the benefit for many years to come whatever div they are in. the only good news and therefore made getting there worthwhile is that we get to keep all the gate receipts (about £3M) so not a complete waste of time. (in fact you only get that for winning the FA Cup) the malaysians as I write are still going ahead with their 50% purchase of the club, the manager is staying and we believe they are backing him so looks like we are going to be competitive and have to do it all over again...bring it on. looking forward to playing you already but as I have now crossed leicester off my list of grounds to visit it will have to be Derby, Sheff Utd, Norwich or Millwall (won't take the kids there) next season as I move ever closer to 92. Nessun Dorma to you all.
smokey Posted 31 May 2010 Posted 31 May 2010 I actually think we have a massive chance of automatic promotion this year! If Pearson stays and MM gives him a decent budget to play with then why not, remember we will have big earners like Clemence and DJ (hopefully) off the payroll. I dont think he will get much to spend, 2 Million tops but if he is wise with his money and cracks that Loan market again then we have a big shout. I am also not worried at all about the 3 Prem teams that have come down and feel if theres a year to have a real go then this is it.

Never read it myself but my mate told me the other day that he read in the mercury pearsons been told he,s got to sell before he can buy.
Ashley Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Burnley - 1-6th Hull - I'm sure there close to admin? 10pts deduction? Portsmouth - Will have a youth team if that come the start of the new championship season. 10pts deduction? Leicester, Forest, Swansea, Cardiff, Sheff Utd, Middlboro, Reading? will be contending for the play-offs in my eyes.
sdb Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Reading, QPR, Bristol City, probably Ipswich, they'll all improve on this year. Swansea and Forest will be strong, and i reckon Cardiff'll be ok too. Burnley will be there or there abouts, and the teams coming up are better than those that have gone down. No West Brom or Newcastle at least, and with 3 really good signings we can compete with them all.
Legend_in_blue Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 We need to bring in four players. On top of what we had last season. So replacing Waghorn and getting in Spearing will still leave us 4 short imo. Four players. Costing on average £1.5 million each. £6 million needed. I'll continue to pick out random figures from thin air but that's how it is.

surrifox Posted 3 June 2010 Posted 3 June 2010 promotion teams from the pack (ie not buoyed up by their £60 million parachute payment and playing a premiership squad) generally have certain key components -a stays fit striker who will deliver > 20 goals and a mentality that doesn't allow Doncaster/Barnsley/ Preston to equalise in 90+3 minutes and who can throw in the odd result when they are outplayed for 85 mins but win 1-0. I have the impression that NP if we hang on to him is the sort of manager than can instill that belief in the players or recognises it in players he signs. I would be quite optimistic about our chances for some of the reasons offered above - nothing much to be bothered about in the relegated teams and whilst we will never win at Carrow Road I can see us doing Leeds especially if we play them in the middle of one of their ropey patches
lanxfox Posted 3 June 2010 Posted 3 June 2010 We have beat Leeds once last season, we have a better squad now, we'll beat 'em again
