So, after two years, how has he left us? What did he really achieve?

Players have come and gone but are we left with contracted players he signed who can move us forward?

Sure he could spot a great loan signing - but how does that help us next season?

None of your 'I can't believe he's gone' bollocks, let's stick to what he achieved over two years.

Weale, Hobbs, Morrison and maybe Dyer as pluses; on the debit side of the sheet we have a totally fvcked off DJ, the Scottish play(er) and a brace of misfiring Frenchies.

Are we better equiped without Stearman, Hume, Mattock and Gradel?

And then there's the old'uns hobbling about and a Chairman who has lost a prized manager because (for the second time) he failed to get a signature on a piece of paper.

I always said that a better man than Kelly could have got us into the playoffs - and I reckon that's all Pearson is. He didn't leave us better off, he could just do a job.

a first league title in 29 years and the greatest win ratio of any leicester manager, Stearman and Hume were already on their way out before pearson arrived.

Does he favour improving youth and lower league players or utilising experienced ones?

Hang on a minute, lets not dilute the achievements of the last two years. Yes he is leaving us at a very inopportune time and most supporters are pretty angry about the manner of it all, especially as it seems a sideways move.

But to turn around the mentality of a losing club which we were under ollie, into a steamrollering championship winning team in mere months is a good achievemnt. I think most people would have settled for a 12th place finish last season given the horrific period between 2003 and 2007, 17th place finishes, managers rotated every few weeks, succession after succession of awful, awful players. Yes he has left us in a much better state than he inherited and most fans will be grateful for what we have done when he has been at the helm.

Its defo a sideways move. Why would anyone want to go to Hull? They've got parachute payments thats it. Cant wait for Hull to fall flat on there arse and I for one will be watching their games with interest.

I reckon if you look hard enough their might be a thread on the first page in which that hasn't been said. :ermm:

He did a cracking job last season getting us to the play-offs. Winning League One was a good achievement but quite frankly it would have been pretty shoddy had we not got out that league at the first attempt.

He has done a fantastic job with us and has definitely changed out fortunes. Just a shame we have a chairman who who can't dig into his pocket for the best manager we have had since MON. Feel shit right now but IF we get the right man in, we could get another top 10 finish.

i don't know about that.

Many good teams have struggled in league 1 (man city, Sheff wednesday, Leeds, Charlton, Southampton (sort of - without the points deduction they'd have breezed that league IMO) etc.)

Before the season started I was worried we fall in that category, but after witnessing our first few games down there, the quality of opposition was pretty dismal bar the odd team.

On balance he was absolutely brilliant.

This, and i doubt he can be replaced with someone who can continue the strong footing he has given us :(

As pissed off as i am that he looks to be jumping ship, it would be very hard to argue that he hasn't left us in a far better position than we were when he took over.

Getting out of League One at the 1st attempt was a decent achievement, particularly given the squad that he inherited, coupled with the ingrained 'losing mentality' that was rife within the club.

He then followed up with a more than creditable second season, taking us to the brink of the Premier League. All this achieved without spending much money at all. Yes, he relied heavily on loan players, but that is more the fault of Mandaric than his own in that there was never much money available.

His 'permanent' signings were undoubtedly a bit hit and miss, but the acquisition of players such as Weale and Hobbs in particular will stand us in good stead. If a player exodus doesn't follow, then i think we are left with the nucleus of a good side, one which can be built upon if the right manager is appointed as his successor.

He brought back very good times and good feelings we haven't had for a while.

The League 1 season was the most enjoyable for years, but last season surpassed even that for me.

And he has made sure we have a pretty decent squad if we can keep them together.

Pearsons done a fantastic job. He's over achieved this season considering we used pretty much the same squad as we did in league 1. He did inherit a good squad but it takes more than just that to win the league. He rejuvenated Fryatt and got his full potential out of him, uncovered gems such as Hobbs, Davies, Waghorn and Morrison.

He worked within a tight budget and utilised the loan market magnificently. Pearson is a winner and that rubbed off on the squad. His main attributes are obviously his man management and being a great motivator.

I don't think we played the best football consistently under NP but we punched above our weight throughout this season and players were kept firmly grounded. Sometimes belief goes a long way and Pearson instilled that with great abundance. You could almost say he shared similar traits as MON but he's his own man. Under MON the football was dire but we were a solid unit, a team, not individuals and Pearson has built the same sort of mentality here.

I'm disappointed with him leaving but I'll always be grateful for the job he achieved here no matter how much spite I'm feeling.

The way he guided us back up was immaculate, we played some lovely stuff and never looked like slipping out of the top 2 all season. He finally got the best out of Matty Fryatt, brought in young gems such as Hobbs and Morrison and other terrific finds in Dyer, Tunchev and Berner. As well as nurturing Andy King into one of the best outside the top flight. Was very quite throughout and never lookd like a man under pressure but so focused, raising a smile only on that amazing day in Southend, He did what was expected yes, but also built terrific foundations for further progression which we discovered back in the 2nd tier.

Last season again featured a few excellent acquisitions, however how much credit does Nigel get for this? It's clear to many the huge role Steve Walsh played in the recruitment of players. Players like Weale, Wellens and Gallagher were key finds and the way he used the loan market (again Nigel or Walsh who knows?) with Waghorn, Vaughan, Spearing and Bruce was excellent. The were a few very dodgy signings however Neilson, Kermogant and a few others never really looked up to it. We surpassed many expectations and were a shoot-out away from Wembley, a shoot-out from what I firmly believe would have been a place back in the top flight.

On his way he also used a terrific combination of young and old, experienced and enthusiastic. For every Spearing, Hobbs, Morrison used there was a Powell, a Solano, a Howard, players who have been there, done it and seen it. He seemed to build a real togetherness about the side and certainly in the way they came across a side with great passion and pride for the shirt, club and fans.

If I wanted to criticise NP, well I'd say we wern't the most attractive side last season, he made some frankly baffling substitutions and tactics mainly over christmas and does indeed seem to have some favourites I'm still lost as to why Dany N'Guasan was frozen out so often and Paul Gallagher seemingly untouchable. But that is nit-picking to guide us up and come so close to repeating the feat was remarkable.

Quite frankly I'm still amazed he's gone. Not sure on what reception I'll give him yet, part of me thinks we gave him his big chance, look how he's treated us. But then a larger part says this is all Milan's fault and to be honest Nigel has above all given me a squad of players to be truely proud of again.

The makings of a long term saviour and genuine top flight leader but ultimately a man who has quit well before the job is complete. 8/10.

He kept Mandaric off the back page and out of our hair for the best part of 2 years, well he could do nothing about the financial shenanigans so that has to be a massive plus.

IF he does go then he has performed a brilliant repair job on a club that had lost its way.

The League 1 victory was an impressive task given the fortunes of S'hampton etc (as previously stated) but we should have been promoted at least with the talent that was in the squad.

Last season was brilliant as it surpassed all my expectations at least - regardless of any of my supremely optimistic predictions- but at the same time Pearson showed that he still had much to learn (Cardiff at home being the most obvious example) and that he was possibly a devisive figure on the training ground with no scope for personality (twat Campbell, Gradel).

He solidified us and turned us into a decent championship side and I hoped that he would build a dynasty here and bring more success but such is the way of life in football nothing is certain.

If it is true that he is departing I will be sad and through gritted teeth I wish him good luck for the future (apart from when he encounters Leicester) BUT he has made this club better and built a strong foundation for the next manager.

Milan can't give him what we don't have.

EDIT: Tommeh has said it better in a previous post

The only thing he didn't do was get us promoted a second time. He did a terrific job for the club- he took over a sinking ship, stabilsied it, re-decorated it and restored it with pride, dignity and class. Yes he wasn't tactically brilliant, yes we played some dull football at times, but mixed in with some class play, managed to sort our abysmal home record out, got us winning away on a regular basis and put together a good unit, backed up strong coaching set-up.

I don't think he could've done a lot more. He did far better than almost everyone expected, and I wish him all the best for the future, which sadly doesn't appear to be LCFC.

He made the club enjoyable to support and watch again.

He did a fantastic job here. When we were relegated , he came here with an open mind and then started us up again, getting us promoted. And into our return to the Championship, he gets us to a playoff finish. In my mind that is an incredible result.

Having said all that, i don't agree with him, IF he has gone for money, but i put money on it being due to an argument with MM.

Hopefully MM can appoint a new manager, which can do what NP has done for us this season, and maybe even better.

I think i will just approach the new appointment with an open mind.
