£12 return on the Megabus

Leave Newport 4.30am arrive London 7.30am Just time to grab a big breakfast before going on the piss

Leave London 11.00pm arrive Newport 1.55am Absolutely slaughtered

Yeah was looking at that Spoon's breakfast then off to Palace.

Dunno tempted to go to London Euston/Tubes/Selhurst or Thornton Heath just cos thats probably the route i'd be getting home on (Obviously opposite ways though) and if I go on the route i'd know the crack on the way home, i'll decide later, atleast I know what options i've got and prices.

Does anyone know if the Open Return prices on the trainline.com of £34.80 will rise closer to the date?

If it's an open/day return it should just stay the same. Fairly sure it's only the advance tickets for specific trains which change price

If the coach was free and the train was £50 it still wouldn't be a close decision.

The people that travel by coach really do not know what they're missing in my opinion.

This

Don't understand how anybody would chose fox travel over train

If fox travel was free and train was £50

it would still be an easy decision for me

It seems we are no longer able to order tickets via email after the response I received this morning. :@

They've kept that quiet! I pretty much relied on the e-mail service the last two seasons. Just looked on the OS and can't see the e-mail address mentioned anywhere anymore. I'm guessing this is something to do with the cost-cutting/outsourcing :dunno:

Did they just tell you the service was unavailable?

Palace tickets in my hot little hand have made my very shit day a little better

Just train to sort now!

Yeah, I got told that too when asking for confirmation of what priority I am. Right bugger for me, as I used to email every time.

Still, got my Palace ticket. Walked there and back from home, and although that took almost four hours, at least I'll be making my first trip to Selhurst Park next week.

Looks like it's back to (seemingly) hours on hold at work again then <_<

I wouldn't personally use Foxtravel myself but there is nothing wrong with it however I used it to get to Hartlepool and Leeds on Boxing Day and can't really complain. I used trains when I used to attend away days regularly in the League One season because it is a good laugh having a few drinks etc.

If I was to go on an away day now I'd probably drive because I can leave when I like etc and for me that'd be the best option.

For people that can't drive, families and people that don't like the hassle of changing at stations, Foxtravel is obviously the best option for them and I think it is pretty reasonably priced.

Another season with everyone bashing Fox Travel

Quite! It was invaluable to me when I had a seizure and couldnt drive for 12 months..... yeah you get some pratts on there but you do on the train as well lol

To be fair to them I rang at lunch and was on hold for about 5 mins and that was all. Not too bad really.

This may be a silly question, but I just wanted to know why so many people dislike Fox Travel? I have never used it before so dont have any opinion on it really, but just wondered why some people have that view.

Same reason some people look down on other fans who wear replica shirts or choose to sit down at games

Each to their own

There are certain people on here who believe anyone who deviates from their way of thinking is wrong.

"We go on the train, so this makes Fox Travel instantly shit."

"We attend most away games, so those who don't are part timers and ******."

"We're not going to Peterborough in protest at the prices, anyone who goes is a moron."

"We don't wear football shirts, so those that do are complete ******."

etc etc.

Maybe if the people who thought the above went on Fox Travel they'd save enough money to easily afford Peterborough

It's not really a case of affording it though, more being mugged off by fat wankers who have no place in football and in turn conforming to their modern way of noncing fans off completely.

I can afford to attend pretty much every game this season however I can count on one hand the ones that interest me at the moment. A good away day is priceless everyone knows that, i have no problems paying an awful lot for a

top laugh, last minute winner, night out etc. Following City away isn't as an attractive activity now as it was for example in league 1 or the year we went down.

To add on if people want to go Peterborough that's fine, your life your choice but fu ck me £17 for a pre season friendly is discusting and you keep paying it, clubs keep getting away with it and football remains a total joke. Unfortunatly I can see a good few hundred maybe more Leicester making the trip.

Oh I know you were, just wanted to clarify for some who would probably believe it was cost as opposed to principle.

In case these subjects haven't been explored enough..... :P

(a) Most people readily admit Fox Travel is a good way for fans (especially those of certain ages and situations) to get to and from away fixtures. I used to use it all the time before I could drive. What they do say, that seems to annoy the hell out of certain posters on here, is that they have a better time traveling by other means. I don't see where Fox Travel is made out to be 'instantly shit' there. Expensive, restricting and tedious maybe, but not shit.

(b) At MK Dons, I stood next to a disabled in a suit who didn't even celebrate Gradel's goal. He shouldn't have been there. People like Kilworth missed out because a load of part-timers decided they'd show up seeing as Cov was off the menu. Now I'm not saying people who don't go to every game aren't 'real fans' and that they're 'just part-timers'. That's stupid. But in my opinion it's only human nature to feel that the club and the good times and memories it generates belongs to fans who put in the effort to make every game more than those who pick and choose when they feel like it.

© Paying £17 to see a meaningless, glorified training session in, let's face it, a shithole is nothing short of lunatic. Fair enough some might want to go and stand on their terrace for the last time but when there's only a couple of hundred on there it'll feel like any other soulless yard. Talk about protests is a bit farfetched 'cos nothing will ever change as a result. In fact it'll only encourage them to put up prices further as they seek to minimise their costs and maximise their gains from those who still choose to go.

(d) Can't really argue with the bottom one, other than from a fashion point of view.

I prefer rail travel on awaydays (especially London ones) because...

a) I'm a massive trainspotter who likes to look at the Eurostars in St. Pancras

b) You haven't lived until you've sung the 12 Days of Ormondroyd on a Piccadilly Line train crammed with commuters
