whitlock Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Highly doubt squad numbers has anything to do with transfers, its just a number.
thybluefox Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 ...or because nobody wanted number six. Stop ruining my fun
VampLCFC Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Would DJ be given a squad number at all if he was about to leave the club? I'm sure there are a few people out there who will run out tomorrow morning to get "Campbell 32" printed on the back of their new home/away shirt. Seems very unfair if he's about to depart
Bernie's Love Child Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 now squad numbers have been announced all we need is the sponsor to be decided and we'll be looking like a proper football club!
andy_croydz Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Squad numbers are mainly just a number but they mean something to an extent. Obviously the players given number 1-11 are expected to be key players. DJ being 32 doesn't mean anything in this case though. Dickov was 22 for 2-3 years and he was a key player. I think Brian Deane was given the number 20 something when he played 30 odd games in Division 1 with Dickov wasn't he? Number 27 I think.
Jimothy Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Most of those numbers are the same as last year, with only Gallagher moving up to a vacant number and for some odd reason Tunchev moving to number 3 from 5. Squad numbers mean next to nothing, wasn't DJ something like 32 last season in the spells he was here? If they actually meant anything I'm sure Berner would have taken the number 3 shirt.
VampLCFC Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Wasn't DJ 23? why not just give him that number again? you never know, maybe for some reason he's requested number 32??
Walshy5 Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Wasn't DJ 23? why not just give him that number again? you never know, maybe for some reason he's requested number 32?? Its probablly his overall goals target for the season
andy_croydz Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 DJ scored 32 and 33 goals respectively for Yeading in 03-04 and 04-05, could be a reason for 32? Then again.. Maybe that has sod all to be do with it
STUHILL Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 That list just shows how much more work needs to be done in the transfer window. We are looking weaker than last seasons squad. I hope to see 3-4 players come in soon, especially if DJ does go.
Bert Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Morrison, King or Berner will cost a lot to have on your shirt.....
mmarkie Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Morrison, King or Berner will cost a lot to have on your shirt..... DJ's not going is he Bert? have you heard anything? I understand if you don't want to share it with me.
Fox You Forest Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Stop ruining my fun Apologies, I eagerly await the theory Walshy5 comes up with using the numbers that haven't been used.
Bert Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 He's still our player at the minute. But that could change in the next few days. He could be here at the start of the season, he might not. The odds are more in favour of him going to be honest. Just to add, maybe Dj's trying to copy becks.... Becks wore 23, and then 32. .

Tilley Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 DJ should have been given number 10, the captains armband and a new three year deal.
Ric Flair Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Fully agree with you there DMT. Berty, you get my message pal?
sdb Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 1st no i looked for was DJ. for me, 32 says, he's almost certainly going.
Bert Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Working away mate, so I can only get on here on my phone and it doesn't show that i've got messages unless I go in and check. Will have a butchers now mate.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Clutching at straws but a high shirt number doesn't necessarily mean Sousa won't give him much game time. Shefki Kuqi for example wore number 42 last season and was pretty much an ever present in the Swansea side. As I say though, just straw clutching.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 July 2010 Author Posted 28 July 2010 Maybe his number matches to how many goals he plans on scoring?
