lol Good one. Although I actually knew the answer.

Or is that completely unfathomable?

Not surprised one of the clique are using the "anyone else who answers right must be cheating" line again. Always a common feature of the football trivia threads.

If I'm honest, I don't even remember Lee Briscoe and you're about five years younger than me so I did wonder if you Googled it lol

Not a clique thing, just me judging people by my own idiocy :D

I think you should all remember not to underestimate my capacity for knowing ridiculously useless football results and information.

Lesson learned eh?

Nah I'm kidding, I "bing"ed it.

I run alone, I'm not part of any clique on here. MTFU or GTFO.

The Dorus Fan Club is pretty cliquey I'd say.

Odd goal at Man United! lol

It's a weird one. The linesman flagged, and then it was gave. I think everyone has a different opinion on it lol.

Be interesting to hear what they say on MOTD later on. haha

What I think on the goal:

Nani clearly handballed it. Gomes assumed it was a free-kick, and therefore dropped the ball (when it wasn't given as a freekick- either not given or advantage being played)

Once Gomes dropped it, the ball is STILL IN PLAY. So Nani taps it in.

Gomes made the wrong decision by not playing to the whistle, BUT the REFEREE WAS WRONG too, as if he was playing advantage for the handball, he should've brought play back for the freekick when Gomes dropped it at Nani's feet, as NO ADVANTAGE WAS GAINED. But if wasn't playing advantage and didn't give the handball, then he's wrong cause he never gave the freekick as it was clearly handball, and even if he missed it, i'm sure the linesman told him when they spoke.

PS: Why is Clattenburg involved in every controversial decision!

Good post. Nani did handball in, and i would of thought Gomes had the brains and experience, not to throw it when Nani was there. He even looked at Nani several times.

Nani handled the ball, therefore the ball should have been out of play for a free kick. Not a goal at all.

Why the fook was Rio Ferdinand the 3rd party in that conversation?

Posted

Why doesn't the linesman force the point more that it was handball and the goal shouldn't have stood due to deliberate handball?

Posted

Gomes shouldn't have tried to officiate the game himself, whether the decision was right or wrong.

What?!

What about Rio Ferdinand putting his oar in and influencing (?) the referee while he spoke to the linesman? Gomes just tried to tell the linesman that Nani blatantly handled the ball and the goal shouldn't have stood.

I'm saying he effectively gave himself a freekick when the ref had given nothing, he should've played to the whistle.

What Ferdinand was doing I don't know, everyone else was shooed away.

How Stearman thought that wasn't a penalty is beyond me.
