davieG Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Agents fees are transparent (Figures published in the last few days) it's not hard to find out the wages of a player as it always seems to become common knowledge. Look its the new owners of the club that have put pressure on themselves by quoting £10.000,0000, no one, I presume twisted there arm to say that, but a quote is a quote. Wages - pure speculative guess work in 99% of cases. A quote is in fact often not a quote and even when it is it's often misrepresented So much of what is in the media is complete utter made up bullshit it amazes me how gullible people are believing every word considering how often it comes to nought. But you carry on believing if it makes you feel good as for me I'll bide my time and enjoy those moments that actually come to fruition.
ibbosuk Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Yes your right, I don't even believe there was a press conference, let alone a quote! and as for buying Leicester.. Anybody can hold up a city shirt ...Bet its his m8 taking those bloody pic's.....Takes the piss really. Anyway the Thai's are not happy King Power has clearly upped prices at its Duty Free stores to help with this Leicester CIty venture. Yesterday at Suvarnabhumi a bottle of premium vodka (Belvedere, Grey Goose etc.) cost 1,750 Baht. That's almost US$55. It used to be 100 Baht less - and the Euro has been falling for some months now. So it's now US$10 more than Singapore and Hong Kong airport Duty Free Shops. I'll drink to that...
Lord Fox Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Slightly off topic, but how much do you think it would cost to lure Emile back here as I keep being told by different people he is on our hit list again? I know a lot of people don't rate him, whilst others do. I also am of the view, ok he is older than he was, but played in his proper position of CF/Winger, he is a quality player on his day. Would love to see him back, so yeah. Bring Back Emile Paulo! Sorry only my 2nd post, and I don't want to rock the boat, but Emile coming back, No not for me. I loved to watch when he was a youngster and that first game with 'Stan the Man' was a blinder ,but I think we need to ask what would he bring to the team now? OK he's great at holding up the ball - and the ball seems to stick to his chest like Velcro, also when he stayed on his feet he was able to punch holes in defences, but with Paulo's new passing style I can't see where his strengths fit in. Right come on all and rip my comments to shreds Ha,Ha

Lord Fox Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Howard has managed to find his way into the team and Heskey has all of Steves attributes, plus more. Agreed, they are similar, and against Middlesbrough on Saturday I thought Steve was very good, he'd seem to have lost a pound or two and his movement was the best I'd seen in ages, he was even chasing balls down! ( Joke ) the only plus more I can think of is Emile would give you an extra yard of pace My point is I would like to see the money spent on a younger 15 to 20+ a season goal scorer, and I hate to admit it but Emile just isn't one . He's a great guy, but for the money he would cost (and his wages demands would possible break the current structure, and IMO that's something we need to avoid) we could get better – and as you said it, we already have Steve in the role.

Think its been mentioned before but in order for us to progress onto the next level and attain the 15-20 goal player you are after the wage structure needs to be broken. This is why other teams in this division are getting higher profile names, because they pay them more than our structure would allow. Im not saying lets do a portsmouth but i think the bar needs raising as far as the calibre of players we should be bringing in goes. I really dont understand why anyone wouldnt want heskey here. Its madness to say his attributes wouldnt improve the clubs position in this league, and raise the profile of the club and the confidence of the rest of the squad. Whats not to like!

Stadt Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Replacing Howard for Emile is like for like and then the only things we'd be gaining is another year(s) from Heskey and 1/2 a yard.
Edmund Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Replacing Howard for Emile is like for like and then the only things we'd be gaining is another year(s) from Heskey and 1/2 a yard. Heskey is twice the player. Why was Howard not playing for England a few years back if he was of the same ability?
The Doctor Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Heskey is twice the player. Why was Howard not playing for England a few years back if he was of the same ability? because he's represented scotland?
Edmund Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 because he's represented scotland? Opps. Then it begs the question why he hasn't ever been called up for Scotland first team. Heskey would be the Scottish Shearer.
cambridgefox Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 On todays performance,i think we should blow the whole 10 million on monday morning!!

ibbosuk Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 On todays performance,i think we should blow the whole 10 million on monday morning!! Listening to Sousa's after match interview I am already beginning to doubt him, because his judgment and accesssment todays game was tottally at odd's with everybody else. This to me is more worrying than the actual result it self. If Sousa truely believes we controlled the 1st half and were the better team, well we already have very serious problems.

It was probably more of an attempt to protect the morale of the players... he has obviously been on the fm2010 forums. Classic football manager trick for away games....
