Massive concerns

We've had 1 good season in this league since we were relegated in 2004, our teams have mostly been made up of British players unable to pass a football.

It is also cheaper to get more quality in from abroad for reasonable prices, even free transfers as Sousa has done so far. I personally like the look of both Lamey and Moussa, both foreign, free, and look an improvement on Neilson and Oakley. Moreno I'm not sure of yet but its not like we've spent millions on him. If we're looking for British players in those positions I've no doubt it would cost more in both tranfer fee and wages, and personally I'm sick of seeing the usual uninspiring english players move around clubs every year that we would have purchased 3-4 years ago, without doubt.

:appl:

In MM's first full season we signed: -

Anwick, Clapham, Kenton, Chambers, Oakley, Howard, Clemence, DJ, Bell, Sappleton, Hendrie, Cort, Howard, Worley and what happened??

We got relegated.

I have no fooking clue what the hang up is about signing British players. We do have Weale, Logan, Nielson, Hobbs, Morrison, Kennedy, Oakley, Wellens, Dyer, Fryatt, DJ and Howard so what's the problem??

I know mate, I have tried to keep my trap shut all summer but I was massively wary of Sousa being appointed and although it's then easy for me to kick off when things go sour, I just honestly can't see this working. We are back on the way to League One unless he is disposed of asap.

As for the rumour about Fryatt, that is criminal.

To early keep your gob shut !

I just can't see where your concerns are coming from. We haven't spent much money at all and all the players he has brought in seem to be pretty good and a step-up from what we have :dunno:

Coming from the man who called for Rob Kellys head after one game (he didn't even go to) that's funny.

I've never regretted one word I wrote about Kelly ... in fact he could have resigned at half-time during that Cup game against Stoke as far as I was concerned cos I'd seen enough

And had he done so it would have saved me watching some of the most soulless football I've ever seen from a City team.

As for your own all but unwavering support of whoever has the managerial title and whatever shit he's serving up for football, that's your choice. But don't expect me to sit and say nothing.

after 10 games we will know how we are going to do this season i'll wait till then to judge sousa

After 10 games we can judge him, and after that he has a handful of games to change things if we are still in the bottom quarter! After that, I will be calling for his head! That's my opinion anyway.

And something else!

Sousa keeps waffling on about he's going to bring in players who are different from what we already have, but all he's bought in is defenders and defensive midfielders, something we already had.

We lack wide players and pace upfront, BIG TIME.

Spot on.

But it is probably easier to get hold of the players he's currently brought in than the ones you identified.

Not sure I agree completely. To say we already have defenders and defensive midfielders is correct in a way but a little simplistic. We have midfielders who play in the defensive midfield position, but I wouldn't go as far to say that they are particularly good there or whether they are not better served elsewhere. Andy King for example can do a lot of work in the defensive sitting role, but he's much better pushing on up field. In addition, Richie Wellens is better pulling the strings further forward so the signing of Moreno and hopefully Abe are welcome additions to the squad.

As for defensive cover, I think we can all accept that it's only a matter of time before Robbie Nielson starts to fall out of favour with the fans again. All it will take is a misplaced pass or a bad throw and he'll be done for the season so the signing of Lamey again makes sense. In addition to this, the fact that Tunchev cannot be counted due to his injury problems, we desperately need cover at centre half and to be fair, Bruno Berner hasn't had the best start so trialling that other left back is perhaps not so mindless.

Agreed, Dyer has looked good so far this season but N'Guessan is very hit-and-miss, we definitely need another winger or two.

I have some massive concerns now, DJ on his way to Blackpool today, Fryatt and apparently two other players handing in transfer requests, could potentially leave us with just Steve Howard up front on Saturday, maybe Gallagher will get more of a chance in his first choice position as striker now, sounded good in that role on Tuesday night against Leeds

news to me, might aswell rip up my season ticket now <_<

I'm more concerned we still have Dyer, Fryatt, Howard, N'Guessan, Morrison , Oakley and Neilson in with a chance of starting in the same game.

haha wouldn't go that far, but I hope Mr. Sousa knows what he's doing, maybe the sale of DJ is to fund the signing of Yuki Abe because of the delay in the takeover

It's in the "Matty Fryatt" thread, says Matty Fryatt plus two other players have handed in transfer requests, somebody else quotes the two players being Richie Wellens and Steve Howard, no sources though

well until we get a source, or something of the sort, it is Leicester City and Fun Season atm

I'll take it with a shovel of salt.

Yea I realise this, I've put a reply in that thread stating I don't think it would be Steve Howard as he is currently negotiating a new contract, however, Richie Wellens probably sees Yuki Abe as his replacement and also Moreno can play there, so maybe wants out? Who knows!

fook me, what do you lot do for your dose of misery during the off-season? I know that this year you had England's woeful world cup to keep yourselves topped up with despair, but in a normal summer when the sun shines and there isn't any football-related disaster to mope about, how do you keep from accidentally smiling?

Every other thread on here is either a doom-laden tale of all the players who are leaving, or a doom-laden tale about how they're not leaving because they're crap, or a doom-laden tale about all the useless foreigners we're signing, or a doom-laden... I really can't be arsed to go on.

Seriously, have a word with yourselves. No-one died.

My post was hardly "doom laden" I was simply pointing out the fact that our so called two best strikers look set to walk out the door, I also pointed out a positive in the fact that maybe Gallagher will have his chance to shine as a striker

:appl: Well fooking said .Every thread at the moment just seems so depressing. Positives people c'mon good result against them Leeds scumbags the other nite. The seasons only just started. We are yet to see what Leon Crnic can do.The trees are in the same sort of position plus Sheff Utd and a few others but thats due to lack of points, just look where a win or two could take us. I think people are just expecting Leicester City FC to be top of the Champ with maximum points and 40 odd goals. WE ARE NOT CHELSEA.
