milan_foxes Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Leeds are definitely in the market for a midfielder. I've heard Lansbury's named linked although there is a lot of interest in him, notably from Swansea. Other potential signings could be Gavin Rae from Cardiff or Leicester's Richie Wellens. I can't see it happening myself
Babylon Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 I can't see it happening myself Where has this come from?
FrankieADZ Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 I heard the Gavin Rae rumours a week or so ago, but if we got Lansbury and we lost Wellens.....would that be a good or bad move? My view might be a good one.
sg6 Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 The leicester mercury seem to think that wellens may be one of the players that handed in a transfer request
Toby or not Toby Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 At the bottom of an article in the mercury it says that unconfirmed reports are that Wellens is one to have handed in a transfer request along with Fryatt. EDIT: SG6 beat me to it

My view might be a good one. Yes it would be, i'd rather have Lansbury than Wellens. Won't hold my breath then.
FrankieADZ Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 or we could go and test Arsenal and see if they'll loan use Wilshire on Loan. they know who are the bigger club
FrankieADZ Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 well this is what Stringer just tweeted regards transfers: Who COULD be leaving LCFC: DJ-Blackpool, not agreed yet, prob will be. Gally+Wellens (Shef Utd) sought after.MF, I'm unsure.GUT says he stays Just hope fryatt stays
Spencer Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Hate to keep repeating myself, but he is one of the guys that has handed in a transfer request.
davieG Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Hate to keep repeating myself, but he is one of the guys that has handed in a transfer request. And was still picked instead of King
dpjfox Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 if we let Wellens amd Fryatt go (in addition to DJ ) hope weve got replacements lined up
Thracian Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 I still don't see why Wellens is so highly rated. Yes he's combative and has a bit of skill but his effect on games is minimal. Too often he takes one or two touches too many thus slowing the momentum of a move and his habit of running with the ball makes him vulnerable as the defensive fulcrum whenever he's caught in possession which is not infrequently. As an attacker yes, he can shoot, though not very well and it doesn't matter anyway because he doesn't. He usually passes the buck. No, I don't say that Wellens is a bad player - just a bloke who could be much improved and is certainly nothing special at the moment. King, on the other hand, may be quieter but he's safer too, scores an abundance of goals for a midfielder and makes any number of vital clearances as a defender. In defensive situations he invariably uses one or two touches to pass the ball and is rarely caught in possession. For me effect is everything in a footballer and King so often makes things happen. Even this season he should have two more perfectly legitimate goals on his record. And a goalline clearance saved the cuptie for us at Leeds.
Spencer Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 And was still picked instead of King Just shows Sousa actually values him then..

Agreed, Wellens appears to do alot but if you think about it carefully when you look back at a game, it's hard to pick out anything of note. Not bothered if he goes, especially if he has handed in a transfer request.
leftsideoverhere Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 The leicester mercury seem to think that wellens may be one of the players that handed in a transfer request .. "unconfirmed" meaning they read it on Foxes Talk. Talk about circular arguments.
lestajigs Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 No I would say wellens is one of our best players, he got a good football brain he can pick a pass from nothing, and he does get stuck in, wouldn't wanna see him!! Think he so underated last season!!
Callabinho Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Not so fussed about wellens to be fair, he can be replaced, but i would not want Gally to go! didn't he say on the OS that he had found a home in Leicester?
bigneville Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Wellens is the best footballer in the squad. Would be terrible to lose such a talented footballer.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Wellens is the best footballer in the squad. Would be terrible to lose such a talented footballer. Bollocks. The bloke knows how to talk himself up and is flashy. This is fine if you have an end product. That is where he falls down. Would not be a terrible loss.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Cant afford to lose Wellens. Doubt he'll go anyway though.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Remember that night in Cardiff? When he was running about on one leg, tear filled eyes at the end? Say what you want about the man but I want players like that playing for my club.
HonradaRaposa Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Wellens is the best footballer in the squad. Would be terrible to lose such a talented footballer. Andy King is FACT-A-fooking-MUNDO.
