Corky Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Just saw this as someone's avatar on a cov forum, how ironic.
Edmund Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 anyone know anything about crncic's style of play? Benchwarming.
Corky Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Thought it was lovely to see our esteemed great Dennis Wise today. Brought a warm glow to my heart that did.
DanTheFox07 Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Was just as disappointed with result today considering general feelings from most Fan`s is we deserved more than a point, that aside I really think people need to start thinking about knee jerk comments about getting rid of sousa now, We dominated the game today in pretty much every aspect and if we had a killer instinct in front of goal would have won comfortably in my opinion. The tide is bound to turn sooner rather than later, we have some good games coming up, I see Portsmouth on the 24th as a winnable fixture and hopefully by then we will already have our first win under our belt, so we will be up and running! Can only be positive from here on in. We also have Abe and zayatte in the squad very shortly so our defensive option`s will be considerable with tunchev starting full training at end of the month. Keep the faith people our luck will change!
DanTheFox07 Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Still stick by my don't worry til Christmas vibe but Matty is seriously testing my loyalty. It's looking more and more like he's a league 1/Championship player at very best. Not been counting but it feels like 2 out of every 10 one on ones he converts, and has done since he came here. Shlt for a striker. His offside offences seem a bit better but not much. Too many niggling little points to mention that i feel have not changed within our team. Do we even practice set pieces of any sort? Still, we didn't lose and it seems that once everyone gets used to each other we will have a formidable team, but for fook's sake Matty sort it out or i will be calling for your dismisall with the rest of the kids. Hasn`t even had a decent run in the side yet and strikers thrive on confidence and he was dropped, what do you expect from the guy and had a nasty injury last year, if someone broke ur jaw, im sure ud be a bit reluctant in the tackle! Fryatt isn`t the only striker in this team, howard doesn`t score many, nguessan doesn`t get us many goals! so should we just get rid of them??? it`s always people getting on his back in here, our problems are not all down to him jeez!
Guest ttfn Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Why can't people see Sousa's taking us backwards? We didn't go 5 games without a win at any stage last season and we've done it in the first 5 games this season. Sousa needs to go NOW. Every game he's not sacked is another game we're wasting time and points. It's not nice football if we don't win. People need to take their heads out of the sand.

Guest ttfn Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 take it this is a joke right?? If somebody can explain to me the good signs I'm supposed to be seeing under Sousa, I won't post here again.

Guest ttfn Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Ur ryt m8 lets get O neal in. I'm just trying to offer a reasoned opinion, Sousa's record in the Championship is pretty mediocre. There's all kinds of discontent going down and we can't buy a win. Seems pretty clear cut to me. I am offering reason. Others are offering hunches that it will get better, Logic suggests it won't.

Yeah, finishing 7th after being in the playoffs for the vast majority of the season is exceptionally mediocre.

ian_marshall Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Went to the game earlier and wanted to share my views: Positives: -Played some good passing football today and tore Coventry apart in spells. -Retained possession very well and didn't really give the ball an awful lot. -Great performance from King today, and took his goal very well indeed. -What has Sousa done to Neilson??? Yet another fantastic performance defensively with more consideration given towards making intelligent forward runs. Can't believe I'm actually starting to like the guy. -Nice to see Waggy back in a city shirt, good spirited performance. -Great following today. Negatives: -All style no substance-Absolutely clueless in the final third, and up until King scored never really looked like scoring. -Oakley was non-existent yet again today and when he did get possession seemed to get bossed by Carsley. -Wellen's distribution was woeful. The number of times he tried to play an over elaborate pass when a simple one would have been more effective was ridiculous. -Given the size of them both Hobbs and Morrison struggled with the big man Platt on the few occasions Coventry did manage to break forward. -Didn't stretch Coventry at all on the counter and tended to check back allowing them to regather and get men behind the ball. On reflection, despite some frustrating moments the overall play is showing improvement and with more clinical finishing the team is definitely capable of beating the vast majority of sides in this division. A point away in a local derby against a side who've started ok, isn't the worse result.

Coventry 2-2 Reading 1-2 Derby 0-1 Cardiff 1-2 WBA 0-3 If I'm right, that is 5 games without a win.
Guest ttfn Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Yeah, finishing 7th after being in the playoffs for the vast majority of the season is exceptionally mediocre. I'd suggest an overall record of 27 wins in 82 matches in England is exceptionally mediocre. Yes we did. Coventry 2-2 Reading 1-2 Derby 0-1 Cardiff 1-2 WBA 0-3 If I'm right, that is 5 games without a win. You are right, apologies. We were in the play-offs at that stage, mind, so i think Pearson had earned some faith.

DanTheFox07 Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Sousa style of football will take us forward, it`s difficult because we need better technical players at the club and the one`s we have need to get used to the playing style! all good and well people coming out saying get rid of sousa, but give us the alternative and don`t talk about Oneil, the guy was a legend at this club in the past! Do people honestly think he would comeback?

I don't see how Sousa is to blame for us not winning today. He did all he could of done, team selection was good, tactics the same, the players just need to find the net. I was actually getting worried after the defeat to Reading but todays performance has changed my mind, i think were on our way up and if we'd taken our chances we probably could of won all our games, Sousa is the man to take us forward. Our luck will change, we have to many good players in the side for it not to.

Are you trying to tell me that Sousa's not to blame for this when he's the main change from last year? How people aren't seeing this is totally beyond me. It''s the middle of September and we still haven't won a league game. You say "Sousa is the man to take us forward" - what is this based on exactly?

You say "Sousa is the man to take us forward" - what is this based on exactly? 30 shots on target in 5 league games yet we've scored 4 goals? How the hell is that Sousa's fault? That's not even accounting for the amount of shots we've had off target and apparently we've had over 50 corners in 5 league games as well. Certainly more than enough chances to score plenty of goals and win games. Sure, it's easy and narrow-minded to blame the manager for our shortcomings, but all he can do is set the players up and send them out. Once they cross the white lines, he cannot do much and if we're not clinical enough when we do get chances, that is the fault of the players, not the manager.
Unit Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 A relative of mine managed to blag a box through work, it was nice to have a pint or 12 during the game but horrible getting abuse from leicester fans!! I've just got home now and I thought we battered them, we could've finished them off within 20 mins! Bit of a disturbance when the cov steward tried to chuck us out for celebrating our goal, cock. Never again in a box for me, back to the stands!

But last season these same players were 5th in the league, now they're 23rd. The only change is the guy managing them. The only important statistic is that we have 2 points from 5 games.
shiv Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Didn't go to the game, but by the sounds of things we played well apart from not scoring more goals. And just stayed up to watch our "highlights" only to be disappointed by less than 30 seconds coverage. So fooking annoying! Happens everytime!
