FrankieADZ Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 King saves the day again. 1-1 Disappointed we really should have won but it's the same old problem at Leicester we cannot score in a brothel, well we need a good few chances before we score 1 i'd like to see the shots to goals ratio. maybe if we send the squad on a fact finding mission to one the might be able to score on the pitch, seem to work well for Rooney last season
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Ok then Mr.Positive I'd be more concerned if we waste creating the chances to at Least have the chance to score from b....b....b....but we are:o I have never had a run in before with you so will give you a fair opportunity to stay out of my mental list of complete twats on this forum. What does the last bit mean? I have every right to be a realist. Take a look at the table.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Cov sounded pathetic, it's little wonder their attendances are so poor. If Stringer and Birch were accurate in their appraisal, I'd stop going to games if Leicester set-up like Cov did for a home fixture.

Matt Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Oh and fair play to the fans that actually went, It still wasn't the best of atmopsheres by far, but better much better than has been in our past trips there, and Cov actually had a few more fans there I think, must have been giving free tickets out in the local schools or something.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Slightly un-related but SSN have just said that Bellamy is out injured today. Lets hope he is crocked for Tuesday. Perhaps things are looking up!!

Babylon Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Report from someone on TB who went. "An extraordinary game where we played some outstanding approach play - as good as I've seen for some time We were, however, pitiful up front. Waggy nowhere near match fitness, but that will come.He was still five squillion per cent better than Fryatt, who was complete dogshit and should have been pulled off at half time (not like that, alex) Hard to tell if this is a brave new world because they were awful in every way. But the passing and movement (shithouse Fryatt excepted) was a true pleasure to watch "
leftsideoverhere Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 On M69 on the way home. Feels like a defeat after hammering on their penalty area all game and only coming away with a point. The Ricoh really is a dive. Half-full at best, with only a tiny number of home fans making any noise, and most of that was directed at us, not at the game. Although it did sound in the second half as though they were singing "we took one shot, and that's enough". Waiting to meet up with our family to come home we met a cov fan who took three goes before we understood he was saying 'have a good trip back' and watch four drunk cov fans try to pull a leicester fan out of a taxi while it was moving. Nice! The football was mostly depressing, I thought. We bossed it completely but lacked confidence. So there wasn't enough pace in our passing, and too many of our shots on target were weak. But we should have had at least one penalty, and their goal came from their only shot on target which was directly the result of the referee confusing football with sumo wrestling and allowing cov to strip the ball away from a leicester attack without any regard for the rules of the game. Sometimes snatching an equaliser feels like a win, but right now I'm pissed off that they're even allowed to have a football team in that awful stadium never mind that we let them take the lead and take a point. I don't want to be in the 'win at all costs' camp. I do appreciate that we're passing the ball more, and I like what Sousa is trying to do. But I seriously want to see us put some of the crap sides around us in the championship to the sword, and given they way cov played today it would have been a mercy killing to put six or seven past them. As for the team, that line up today worked well. Neilson looks five yards faster tracking back, Bruno was closer to his usual standard, Hobbs and Morro looked solid except for the solitary Cov chance, and the midfield worked well as a unit, with Lloyd, Wellens and King all adding to the strike force. I wish we could play the passes into the spaces for colleagues to run into, but at least today most passes went to feet, and not to the three yards behind the intended target. Gallagher looked good when he came on, Howard and N'Guessan less so, but they were up against a team who knew they were lucky to be level and were determined to keep 11 behind the ball. It's coming, and when it does, someone is going to get hammered.
Karljohn Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Playing route one football with 1 up top its no wonder they can't fill a bloody stand, attendance 20,060! Happy to take a draw away from home as they are jammy bastards and always have been, shame we cannot turn these chances into goals but hope this will come soon, very pleased that we could have played without a keeper and still manage a point! and they slated Coleman for being negative! Cov sounded as dull as the city they play in, missed the first 15 minutes of commentary as stuck on the M6 at Keele on the way back from me hollybobs with a poor RL signal but sounded like we slaughtered them and the match stats prove it. Hope Sousa recognizes that Waggy needs to be employed as a striker and not played out of position. Just offered a Cov fan £100 to say we will finish above them, and he said he's not taking up the bet as he'll be £100 lighter come May. Bring on Bellamy, Bothroyd and Chopra :scarf:
Lillehamring Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 To be fair 2 points from 5 games is not what you would call impressive. 10 points + to make up on the leaders already. Hardly inspiring. We did this playing teams off the park a couple of seasons ago ie Bristol City and didn't win. What happened at the end of that season. Of course we were too good to go down then as well...... a couple of seasons ago it was taking us 85 minutes to register a shot on target, we had a team full of players with no interest and hadn't had a decent manager come near us in years. we are playing some decent footy and have a few players on the cusp of coming through that might make a difference, plus the money to make adjustments at christmas if needed. i wouldn't say the situations are even complarable
Thracian Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 All City need is a win - even a lucky one - and they could go on a run because apart from failing to win, we played Coventry to a standstill and they weren't too quick to start with. Twice I counted moves of over 20 passes - although one of em cost us a goal when Wellens got careless and lost possession. But generally I left the Ricoh full of heart apart from wondering if referees are deliberately trying to get us relegated. Quite apart from Kingy having two decent goals chalked off already this season how today's referee failed to see a blatant and controlling handball in the penalty area I've no idea. The bloke was almost giving a basketball demonstration. Some would say we should have had another penalty for a foul on Howard but I don't know about that - we simply seem to be getting one kind of break off referees and that's the type that ruin your season and leave you shaking your head. City's passing was a joy to behold at times and we must have had at least 70% of the possession. Coventry scored with the only attack of any threat I can remember and our keeper had the easiest day's work he'll ever get. But how we need someone to give us a killer finish. Someone fast, good in the air and intelligent enough to get in the six-yard box because there were so many balls in there that were wasted without a challenge. Our last pass decision making was naff as well. Twice Kingy and others took up posiitons for a cut back and glaring chance for a goal but first Waghorn then Fryatt failed to deliver but chose the selfish route with hopeful shots from an angle. On other occasions there were deft through balls but Fryatt just looked short of the pace or desire to get onto them. I've long thought N'Guessan could be a threat at centre-forward - particularly with his heading - and on today's showing by Fryatt I'd happily give Danny his chance. For anyone wondering, the body language of the players didn't look like we were a club in crisis. The workrate, passing, moving and closing down were okay - although our lack of pace when recovering sure told with their goal which came from a lamely contested header. Altogether though 6/10 for achievement and 8/10 for artistic impression. But we must be more ruthless and make better final ball decisions.

Ever ventured into the city centre leftside? it's like a trip back to the 1950s, the bombing in the war was tragic but some of the buildings look like the contractor ran out of money whilst building them back up, awful city, awful fans, awful stadium, I have longed for them to fall so low that their biggest derby game is Nuneaton Borough. Thank you Andy King for saving me from a weekend of celebratory texts from Coventry ******.

I don't give a fook about the pretty football bullshit, I want my team to win, if we win and play pretty great i'm very happy but first and foremost I want too see win's, Win's are my priority get us winning then start looking to play pretty football. We need goals! 1-0 down though considering we struggle to score i'd have snapped your hand off for 1-1 at H/tT, If only we could make the most of our corners, chances, and shots. Sousa lives another day I said after the Reading game for me i'd give him another 2 games if nothing changed and i'd be very disappointed, He then has another 5 games before I start wanting him out if things still havn't changed, That's fair and quite abit of patiences I reckon, This still stands and i'm still undecided on Sousa. this is a bit of a strange thing to say - can you say with conviction that should we go back to ugly route 1 football, we'd suddenly start winning? surely it is better to persevere playing the type of footy that the manager sees as being a long term plan. ok, maybe it'll be a struggle but if you're getting 11 shots on target in most games, things will happen eventually. if sousa can crack it with this style of play it will serve us better should we end up in the prem, rather than bullying our way up playing hoof ball
davieG Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 a couple of seasons ago it was taking us 85 minutes to register a shot on target, we had a team full of players with no interest and hadn't had a decent manager come near us in years. we are playing some decent footy and have a few players on the cusp of coming through that might make a difference, plus the money to make adjustments at christmas if needed. i wouldn't say the situations are even complarable 37 minutes before we had the game's first attempt on target the 2nd was Cov's and they scored. Having said that we totally dominated the whole game but our final ball / decision making was our downfall. Fryatt looks like he's put his weight back on and is obviously not fit, Waghorn didn't look that fit and was trying too hard to be £3mill player. Dyer deserved a goal with at least 2 excellent attempts. King was easily our best chance for a goal with many timely runs into the box unfortunately ignored by both Waghorn and Fryatt. Oakley ran the midfield with Wellens but Wellen's still too slow on the ball and prone to losing / giving it away. Back 4 and the goalie had hardly anything to do although I'd be worried about them against a more potent attack as they didn't look that confident, especially Morrison. If I was Logan I'd take a hint a move on, Paulo does not rate/like him if he's prepared to play a loanee before him.
Thracian Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 this is a bit of a strange thing to say - can you say with conviction that should we go back to ugly route 1 football, we'd suddenly start winning? surely it is better to persevere playing the type of footy that the manager sees as being a long term plan. ok, maybe it'll be a struggle but if you're getting 11 shots on target in most games, things will happen eventually. if sousa can crack it with this style of play it will serve us better should we end up in the prem, rather than bullying our way up playing hoof ball DavieG pointed out that it was virtually the same side as played at Coventry last season in a game that was always a lottery and finished in a draw that both sides merited for their cautious approach to a stalemate outcome. Today those same players destroyed Coventry in every way apart from the result. It was like Coventry were the away team desperately hoping for a lucky break. I sure know which I preferred watching.
Kilworthfox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 fooking Jammy Cov strike again. It is inevitable that very soon someone is going to be gettinng a pasting from us. It should have been Cov today. They are utterly hopeless, their play lacks creativity, they were 2nd to everything & quite how they got away with some very robust late challenges especially by their left back I really can't explain. I will just say that I thought the referee was very poor, no more than that. We had ample oppertunities...17 shots & 11 on target, but some glaring more than others, Fryatt & N'Guessain not squaring the ball with a man in the middle to tap in, is greedy beyond logic. Our build up play & ability to keep possesion is abosolutely fantastic, however we do seem a little obsessed at times to continue with possesion, which removes the quick attacking breaks or sudden pace injected to suprise the opposition defense, but it just is not there for some reason. The nearest we get to counter attacking is when a ball is sprayed across field to the winger who then runs and has space only to pass back or take another touch & the urgency breaks down, it's very frustrating to watch. Maybe the players did not feel confident enough to deliver the first time ball to Fryatt, Waghorn or Dyer in the air against the larger defenders, but if the quality of the delivery is right, a goal scoring oppertunity is there. Berner was guility of not delivering everytime today, also Neilson tried to back up Waghorn but has no effect, he just can't do it. Very disapointed with today, Cov are an all round poor club, and today on the feild they were disapointing even for them, It feels like we have been robbed, but it's our fault that we did not test Westwood more often with quality shots.

jamesmilner Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 we have 2 points out of 15 , we cant win a game we dominated , we are in relegation form and people are happy ? ok. if i had known that this season was a transition year and not a real push for promotion after reaching the play-offs and being unlucky , i wouldn't have bought my season ticket. i just expected a real go for promotion not talking about 2points out of 15 and being happy . sorry lads and lasses thats just how it is for me . please dont insult me by saying we could still go up as we all know that isn't going to happen as sousa has already admitted this .
StanSP Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 We could still go up though. Crystal Palace were in relegation zone a few seasons ago and ended up in play-offs I believe. Why give up hope now when we're only 5 games in to the season and still settling in to a whole load of changes at the club?
jamesmilner Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 why give up hope ? because sousa already has ,thats why !!! first bark rubber has spoken
Lillehamring Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 at least we're not boro - 2 goals in 5 games and being stuffed 3-0 today
Matt Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 at least we're not boro - 2 goals in 5 games and being stuffed 3-0 today With a win under there belt and 2 points more than us....Hilarious.
