Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 First things first, I don't particularly believe in luck as any kind of actually ethereal force, and I know you're supposed to make your own, but whatever or however you want to call it, we haven't been getting any. It's all too easy to become paranoid supporting LCFC that the FA has somekind of secret referees, directive that dictates we should be given nothing unless it is blindly obvious, and even then, slip in one or two of them every fortnight. So far we have this season: King's 2 - yes 2 - perfectly good goals disallowed Steve Howard getting a bloody nose to no effect in the penalty area yesterday (and then getting sent off the pitch for his troubles) The "back pass" Cardiff's goal... we never score flukes like that! And as I remember that night the ref was constantly giving us nothing and would stand around like a bewildered gazelle foal in a field of lions. Remind me if you can think of more. For the want of a little "luck" we could have 4 or 5 more points and who is to say that, with the confidence that a bit of luck would give, we wouldn't have gone on to get more? It's frustrating, but it has to change. The law of averages say so (unless there actually is a secret referees' directive ). C'mon Leicester!
Matt Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Luck? 61 shots in 3 games, 3 goals, Nothing to do with luck mate, It tells it own story. Luck is one thing, making the most of 61 shots and chances in 3 games is another. (Fair enough althought the stats say we had alot of shot yesterday I will admit not many we're great chances but against Cov and Cardiff we had many brilliant chances). And if we're looking at the ref (Correct decision's or not) we're clutching at straws and desperate.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 A blatant penalty for handball not given at Cov.
Edmund Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Hit the woodwork 11 times this season. That's not down to luck that's just poor finishing.
Matt Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 That's not down to luck that's just poor finishing. No, don't be silly, the whole world is conspiring on us. ...including the goalposts.
easilee Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 No, don't be silly, the whole world is conspiring on us. ...including the goalposts. Not all of em'. Only the ones that we're attacking.<_<
Karljohn Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Luck evens itself out, we were somewhat fortunate to meet a Cardiff side minus Bellamy, Chopra and Bothroyd. We got everything we deserved at Burnley, start the 2nd half at Palace 3-0 down and haven't scored first all season, its not luck, its just not good enough!

It doesnt even it self out, you might get a bit, but it never evens it self out, not for every single team in the lague anyway.
rabbid Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 The loser's guide to getting luckyBy Professor Richard Wiseman University of Hertfordshire Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve? A psychologist says he has discovered the answer. Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me. Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and, over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had them take part in experiments. Here are Professor Wiseman's four top tips for becoming lucky: Listen to your gut instincts - they are normally right Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well Visualise yourself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone call. Luck is very often a self-fulfilling prophecy My gut instinct is that sousa doesn't know shit and we should sack him now
Dylan Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 65 odd corners? And only time I can remember us coming close is King hitting the bar.
Matt Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 65 odd corners? And only time I can remember us coming close is King hitting the bar. Waggy nearly scored directly from one, hit the far post, well that's how it looked from where I was sitting.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 September 2010 Author Posted 19 September 2010 if you don't believe in luck how can you say we haven't been getting any ? As an ethereal force, get it right. I expect better of you Zin And I'm not making excuses, was a light-hearted thread to try and make us feel better, but I guess I should have known better. Though clearly anyone calling for Sousa's head is a person with little patience for new ideas.

Corky Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 We've been unfortunate to be on the wrong end of some officiating, but we've had the chances to score. Plenty of them, and we haven't taken them. That's the main reason why we are struggling, and conceding soft goals doesn't help too.
DB11 Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 We had so many decisions go our way in League One. We were very 'lucky' (if you mean 50-50 decisions favouring us or a bad decision going against the other team to favour us) that season. Why does no one remember that?

DB11 Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Oh, and we got a free kick yesterday when they probably could have scored (no, not the disallowed goal) when Ikeme spilt the ball... was never a foul but we (well Ikeme) got lucky
wurmer Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Luck? Load of old bollocks. We are losing games because we are not scoring from our chances, and are leaking stupid goals. It's a simple as that.
