Many are comparing SOUSA`s start to O`NEILLS

Here is the math

O`NEILLS first games

23.12.1995 Grimsby Town away D2-2 3 37

01.01.1996 Millwall away D1-1 3 38

13.01.1996 Stoke City away L0-1 5 38

21.01.1996 Sunderland home D0-0 5 39

03.02.1996 Luton Town home D1-1 7 40

10.02.1996 Portsmouth away L1-2 10 40

17.02.1996 Port Vale home D1-1 8 41

21.02.1996 Wolves away W3-2 6 44

24.02.1996 Reading away D1-1 6 45

THATS 8 POINTS FROM 9 GAMES TAKING US FROM 3RD TO 8TH IN THE TABLE

SOUSA`S FIRST 9 GAMES

07.08.2010 Crystal Palace away L2-3 14 0

14.08.2010 Middlesbrough home D0-0 16 1

21.08.2010 Burnley away L0-3 24 1

28.08.2010 Reading home L1-2 23 1

11.09.2010 Coventry City away D1-1 23 2

14.09.2010 Cardiff City home W2-1 20 5

18.09.2010 Qpr home L0-2 22 5

24.09.2010 Portsmouth away L1-6 23 5

28.09.2010 Norwich City away L3-4 24 5

THATS 5 POINTS FROM 9 GAMES TAKING US TO 24TH IN THE TABLE

The teams they inherited were both very good but SOUSA is still behind in the points table and 16 places worse off.

I`m all for giving the man a chance but now look at his last 10 results for Swansea

13.03.2010 Sheffield Wednesday home D0-0 4 60

16.03.2010 West Bromwich Albion home L0-2 5 60

20.03.2010 Queens Park Rangers away D1-1 4 61

23.03.2010 Blackpool away L1-5 5 61

27.03.2010 Ipswich Town home D0-0 5 62

03.04.2010 Cardiff City away L1-2 5 62

05.04.2010 S****horpe United home W3-0 5 65

10.04.2010 Bristol City away L0-1 6 65

17.04.2010 Barnsley home W3-1 6 68

24.04.2010 Sheffield United away L0-2 7 68

02.05.2010 Doncaster Rovers home D0-0 7 69

So in the last 19 league games as a manager he has taken 14 points lost 11 and kept 5 clean sheets!!

SORRY GUYS BUT I`M STARTING TO PANIC!!!!

its pretty scarey to see it there in black and white. i think in damage limitation terms he has to go- its no good having a 2 year plan if we get relegated in the first year!! i dont think it's going to work if that happens even if we do stick with him in order to give him time to fully implement a complete style change in the club. plus, i wouldnt want to see some of our less 'flowery style' footballers be sold to try to mould people into a different style. I liked how we played last season and it worked to an extent didnt it- considering we just got promoted too.

I've already banged on about the futility of this comparison enough (not all comparisons, just this particular one). However the statistics do highlight just how shocking Sousa's record is, I must admit I didn't realise how bad an end to last season he had.

One more thread comparing Sousa to O'Neill, ONE more and I will go out and kick every cat I come across within a one mile radius. I shall go into a furious, uncontrollable rage.

I'm expecting the RSPCA any minute, a new laptop will need to be ordered and MrsG has gone into hibernation early.

:D

There will be blood spilt if I see another. My housemates have been advised to hide all blunt instruments.

I still don't get these comparisons. Yes, O'Neill started slowly but we had something to fall back on, a couple of wins and we were back in real contention for the play-offs.

Now we have nothing to fall back on, and a couple of wins won't move us too far up the table.

Sousa is not fit to comb O'Neill's pubes.

There can be no comparison.

I think at the end of the day any LCFC fan with a brain would want Sousa to stay IF they could see he was taking the team somewhere and patience would lead to better results.

But with Sousa we are only going one way... backwards.

I posted this to show there no comparison to the starts. Let's hope those who use the comparason will stop or if not please feel free to quote these stats but you may be called "Motty" for a few weeks!!!!

O'neill took over a team which would not have gone up if Maghee had stayed . Maghee started fantastic but then teams got wise to his nice passing football game and stifled it . I remember being 3-0 up at west brom and only just hanging on to win 3-2 , and the next game against Bolton in the cup we kept taking the lead but still went out . Ok these games were down to the fact that Kalac was shit but it was the start of a downward spiral . O'neill came in and had to toughen up the team and get them working much harder . Sousa took over a team which worked hard and was good enough to come within touching distance of the premiership , no players have left so he still has that hard working team to work with . What Sousa has done is turn our team into a group of players who dont seem to be mentally tough enough to win games . Ok at times our football looks good on the eye but there is no end product , our defence which was such a rock last season has completely fallen apart .

Both O'neil and Sousa inherited good teams one was on a downward slope the other was on the up . Oneill turned it round basically with good motivational and management skills , Sousa has ballsed it up .

I hope he proves me wrong and i will be the first to admit i was wrong but i cannot see this happening

Well said. What we have to realise first and foremost is that with Sousa's so called "two year plan" to get us into the Premier League (more likely League One at this rate, despite the "early days" cliche), that his strategy for now is not in the long term interests of the club basically! If we are relegated playing this slick passing game (that's so far failed miserably and looks set to continue to do so in this "cut and thrust" league.......which isn't Serie A or La Liga!), then he is hardly going to be kept on after that is he?! It is highly unlikely that whoever comes in to pick up the pieces is going to play Sousa's way with immediate effect, just because it is what the existing players were brainwashed into doing! If we fail to win iether of the next two games then Sousa out - no more messing \nd honouring contracts, we can't afford to!!! Only Forest and Derby fans must be hoping he stays with us now!!
