Jesus Christ. Martin O'Neill is the new Robbie Fowler.

Derby and Forest have Brian Clough, Liverpool have Shankley, Utd have Sir Matt and Sir Alex, Leeds have Don Revie Spurs have Bill Nichollson the list goes on. I don't remember us winning much with any other manager.

LCFC has Martin O'Neil.

I find it strange people like yourself don't regard him so highley Even if doesnt come back to LCFC he has legend status for me and you can't change that.

I think every LCFC fan rates him highly.

'Some, like me, just want him to keep his legend status because there's no guarantee that he can turn it around is there?

Agree 100%. Why certain posters think they know he would say no if he was offered the job is beyond me. Do these people know him personally? It also amuses me that more established posters seem to think they are in some way superior perhaps more intellectual when in fact apart from Bert & Babylon they know shit all, just like everybody else.

What are you afraid of? MON has a great record at every club hes been at whats there to say he can do even better next time around. If it doesnt go right so be it nothing will change in my mind.

If you ask Derby fans after Brian Clough left there were riots and protest marches in Derby. They would of done anything to have him and his team back. Derby have done nothing since then Im afraid the same thing will happen to us.

I don't understand why people on this website dont even want to try and get him back. What can he say ' no' big deal. What are people afraid of him not doing anything this time around? His achievements in the 90's will not suddenly dissapear from the history books. If you dont ask you dont get. The fact is he is available weather he wants to come is another matter.

Thanks mate, I agree with you I've always said this forum is so clicky. If you havent posted 57893 times or its made up of your school buddies you know fook all and your talking bollox. The fact is like yourself I've watching City since the 80's with that comes a lot of life experience and a knowlege of LCFC. But to others if your views to don't agree with theirs well lets just take the piss and make my mates laugh instead.

Here ye. Itdoes get a bit annoying when you get people who have never posted before coming on and starting a topic like we are signing Defoe or someone from their 'Source'.

The MON Rumours are getting quite annoying now. Nobody really knows anything and are just stimulating it further. :dunno:

Completely agree. Can't understand anyone who wouldn't want him back.

(I seriously don't think he will but I'd be fucking over the moon if he did)

And it amuses me that people seem to still not have spotted a pattern in O'Neill's career. He is not a city fan, has no great love for us and would be taking a huge step backwards to come here. He's a career manager; everywhere he's gone has been a forward step and he left Villa because Lerner's wallet didn't match his ambitions. I would love him back here - it just isn't happening.

So all reports suggest he is desperate to get back into management and we may have a significant financial backing through the as yet unknown 3rd backer, yet you know for a fact he would not come back due to a career pattern? Gosh you are right, what morons we all are. Just glad we amuse you so.

I would love to believe that they are meeting with Mcdonald becuase O'Neill wants him as back room staff. Truth is that they might be considering him as a replacement, he had a really good run at AV as caretaker and used to play for the club. If it is the case i'm worried, yet another inexpereinced first team manager at the helm!

Or more than likely it's the Burnley player... or it's all horse shit.

Of course I don't know for sure, hence why we're discussing it (or at least, I'm discussing it and you're getting uptight and defensive.) Yes, we're getting investment and by all accounts it may be more than Mandaric. But we still aren't going to be spending the sort of money that gets you into Europe. As I said (and you ignored) O'Neill is currently out of work because Villa lacked the warchest to get him the assets to make the CL. Do you really believe we have that clout? lol
