From the Merc

Leicester City striker Dany N'Guessan has been ruled out of action for at least two weeks.

The 23-year-old damaged ankle ligaments during Saturday's prestigious friendly against Thailand in Bangkok.

N'Guessan was stretchered off and taken to hospital for X-rays after a challenge, and City also have other injury concerns after returning from the six-day trip.

Michael Morrison, Miguel Vitor and Lloyd Dyer were all nursing minor knocks in Thailand, but all three should be available for this Saturday's Championship clash with Hull City at the Walkers Stadium.

Despite N'Guessan's injury, new City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said the trip to Thailand had been valuable in enabling him to get to know his players.

"The spirit is very good," said Eriksson.

"They have tried very hard in everything we have asked of them. It has been a good week and we all know each other better and the owners better.

"I have been working with them now for three training sessions and I know much more about them now than I did one week ago.

"I like what I have seen and the approach to the game on Saturday was very professional, which is very important.

"We were there to do a good job for Leicester City, and I think it is important for the players and the new owners. I am very pleased with what I saw. There are more important games next weekend and the following Tuesday, when we have Hull at home and Leeds away.

"Saturday's game is a very big game. Every game in the Championship is very competitive and all your opponents are well prepared. They know all about you and you know all about them.

"It will be a fight and we've still got a marathon to do with 36 games.

"I think for the players and the spirit it was good they won last week, won on Saturday and I have seen a lot of good things.

"The players' confidence is good and I hope we can go on from this."

Fantastic! Fair play to the boy, I wouldn't wish him badly, but would quite happily see him move on somewhere - presumably lower down the league pyramid!

Moussa's able to step in, no big loss really.

Yeah, step in to the subs bench. Dyer and Gallagher to start? Please?

Thought it could have been worse for him based on Stringer's reaction at the time.

I'll be amazed if anyone posts on this thread lamenting his absence.

His performance at Blackpool last season was brilliant, but hasn't really started since then.

He has a good spell lasting about 40 secs.

And then nothing for months....Actually thats what my Mrs says(not about him but me....i think!!!!)

Get gally in the centre, moussa on the right. The amount of clear cut chances dany has wasted this season is criminal. Fingers crossed someone will step up to the plate to avoid his re-inclusion. Correct me if I am wrong but the same sort of thing happened last year, with him spending a long time out of the first team

Anything Stringer says I always take with a fist full of salt, he is the biggest over reactor I have ever heard commentating on a football match , the amout of times he shouts surly he will score and then when you see it on highlights its no where near as good a chance as he makes out

N'Guessan has the ability but blows hot and cold.

He was untouchable on form last season but when out of form, it wasn't even worth having him on the pitch.

No massive loss but he does still have something to offer.

Nah he doesn't, he's balls.

WTF. Am I the only one who actually rates N'Guessan?

I think he's got a great header in his game and good pace, but he's erratic, doesn't always use his pace and is often too slow in his decision-making.

Defiantly agree with this. Prime example was the Cov game - Howard was square and an had an open goal in front of him, so N'Guessan shoots. I know he had just come on, but surely he could of seen him.

Certainly in the minority. He's just got worse and worse at the club from what I've personally seen of the guy. Started so promising with that match-turning display against Swansea in the first game of last season.
