Hagrid LCFC Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Richie Wellens. Lazy, never tackles. Sometimes looks good when the rest of the team have taken control of a match. If not the worst is definitely the most overrated. You are quite simply clueless about football. Oh and Fryatt's had a shit year for us too, should sell him.

MikeyT Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 twit! I hope this is a joke? It wouldn't be a particularly funny one but it would stop me from fearing that you are "a little special". X I truly hope so.
RumbleFox Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 For no other reason than to provoke a "get in there you beauty!!" response: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbwH0C5VtFg Better than his more famous goal against them methinks!!! Come on you Foxes, give us something to cheer about next season! X
artursteppe Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 I do actually think that to replace Wellens would be the best thing Sven could do to improve our balance. He can at times be quite good, but as most people seem to know, we do need to improve our defensive capability. This, I think should be done by not only having a good strong reliable and efficient back four, but by also including a midfield player with strong defensive capabilities. That, I believe should not be Yuki Abe or Matt Oakley, they are not as good in that role as we need ( and Wellens would be out of the question in that role ). On top of that I believe Yuki Abe to be a better player, certainly as time goes on, to keep in the team, with King and Gallagher retained. Everyone who was at the game against Watford will have seen what I mean with a midfield of Bruma ( defensive midfield ), Yuki Abe ( in Wellens role ), and King and Gallagher in their normal roles. I apologise for seeming a bit 'cocky', but at half time in that game I told people around me my views ( which have been the same all season ), many of those people are big Wellens fans, and you all know what happened. It was arguably the best midfield performance during that second half that we have seen all season. Those Wellens fans now agree with me. It is not that Wellens is not a good player - I am sure he would be great at Birmingham City - but our shape would be better without him. Yuki Abe in a 'holding' role, with Wellens, King, Gallagher and two strikers have had as much to do with our 'goals conceded ratio' as the back four. It may have brought us the highest number of goals scored at home by any team in the top two divisions, but it has not brought us the points, or results consistency that we must have. Now is not the time to get sentimental or emotional. We need to have the best chance possible for promotion next year, and I believe that would be without Wellens. Let me take this opportunity to thank all those who voted to make Richie Wellens 'player of the season'. It has added at least half a million pounds to his value. Whatever happens we do need a proper defensive midfield player. Wellens could still be in the squad.
MPH Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 No way mate Frank was garbage for us, may have been good a chelsea but not for City he almost single-handedly got us relegated, and don't forget that he led our boys a-stray in la malaga, the words 'ring leader' where mentioned led our boys astray? get real. people like Dikov are mature enough to know what they are doing...
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 My 'has beens and never will be's' 11: Pressman Tony Spearing Lawrie Madden Tony James Robbie Neilsen - to me just plain poo Andy Johnson Junior Lewis Josh Low Ricky Hill Elvis Hammond Phil Gee (him plus sticks + 800k for Kitson = worse deal ever) surely not Phil Gee!! seeing that fookin mullet was worth the entrance fee alone!

artursteppe Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 whatever your thoughts on Wellens why are you bringing the 'player of the season' up in this thread!?? What??????? I said 'let me take this opportunity' thereby excusing myself. It is entirely consistent to do this on the basis that I was explaining myself for a previous post where I said, little tongue in cheek', that Wellens has been our worst player, and certainly overrated ( due to his award ). However, because of his 'best player award' his value will have risen, if we should sell him. OK?
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 What??????? ?? this is the 'worst player' thread.... have you read the title?
Guy Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Three players from the mostly shite Peter Taylor era, hands down! - Ade Akinbiyi, Junior Lewis and Lee Marshall.....in no particular order, even though unintentionally alphabetical order there! The funny thing is that they're all probably still playing somewhere!
artursteppe Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 ?? this is the 'worst player' thread.... have you read the title? Check my edit. If you can't understand then, I will give up! Why are you being so pedantic???
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Check my edit. If you can't understand then, I will give up! Why are you being so pedantic??? I have read your edit... and I maintain that bringing up Richie in this thread makes no sense - you seem to have something against Wellens??. I agree that we need a defensive midfielder 'hard nut' a point I've been making for some weeks. But Wellens (as I've also said) has been consistently our best player this season - as indicated by his player of the season award. Just don't agree with you - this is the wrong thread for bringing Wellens up and he still has something to offer our club. His experience will be invaluable in helping to create a settled team.

evs_the_fox Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Three players from the mostly shite Peter Taylor era, hands down! - Ade Akinbiyi, Junior Lewis and Lee Marshall.....in no particular order, even though unintentionally alphabetical order there! The funny thing is that they're all probably still playing somewhere! According to Wiki Marshall retired in 2005 from a bad leg break... Lee Marshall was crap but I could never get on his back in the same way a lot of the crowd did. His effort was there and you could see he wanted to be better... he just didn't have it in him! We profited on him too - something we failed to do with a lot of the shite that's played for us. Also, after Googling him I see he had to retire in 2005 at 26 years old due to a broken tibia and fibula so I still can't bring myself to slate him too much. There's been players that I've almost hated playing for us but he wasn't one of them.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Dennis Wise, cos he didn't give a rat ass on the pitch, he was just here for his retirement fee.
Martin Hendo for god. Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Lammie Robertson ( brought in by Frank McClintock) by a country mile.
