I'm afraid he's just another player from last season who has lost the confidence and form - along with Hobbs Morrison et al. It seems SGE is just as nervous with wobbly or he wouldn't be actively searching for another first team keeper.

LcfcLuke Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Chris Weale is our best keeper since Ian Walker! you don't get lucky for a whole season, and he was brilliant last season. goalkeeping is all about confidence and he will be back to his best soon enough.

hackneyfox Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Bit of a blow that, we're now stuck with Weale until January. And Weale had a number of dodgy games as the season wore on last year. And he's been generally below average this season.

I don't think Rensing would turn us down considering he has been without a club since the end of last season. His agent would have negotiated something, even if it was just short term, if we were remotely interested.

Ever stopped to think we might just actually be in the position to say 'no' to players nowadays? We haven't got to offer contracts to every Tom, Dick & Barry Hayles that come through the door now, we can actually afford to shop around.

Even though he was never our player, it would hardly be professional to say to the press that he wasn't good enough, I don't think so anyway. And as Tilley pointed out his agent is hardly going to say they rejected him. As a middle ground between the two sides, maybe he was better than Weale but not good enough for the prem and so maybe sven thought he'd hold out for someone better?? It wouldn't surprise me either if it was down to wages. I know we have money, but I imagine his wages at Bayern would have been significantly more than most here, and maybe Sven/the Thais were sensible enough to say no we're not offering you that and then he fooked off. As I said, you could this spin this any which way, but I'm not so sure he would have come on trial knowing that we were where we were in the table and that he didn't want to join. A youngish keeper who has played for Bayer should not need to publicis himself.
